  1. El Hierro. You heard Villa are allegedly in talks with Barcelona. Do you know regarding which player? Djemba Djemba is far too good for them.
  2. Ok. What if we sign NRC Sneijder Bellamy/Bent/Defoe Luke Young Mertesacker Koumas Would people still be miffed at buying Koumas? I think he'd be a decent buy, especially if we've lost McCann & Davis.
  3. According to a colleague at work, Talksport this morning claim we are in talks with Sneijder. May be B.S but here's hoping!!
  4. Interesting!! Have always liked Matty Taylor, he's versatile, sweet left foot and would complement Bouma and Barry well. Young and Maloney can also play left side so we have plenty of options. Added to that, we know MT can cut the mustard in the prem and he's most definately a step up from Jlloyd IMO.
  5. Love Robbie Fowler, pure class. Injuries taken their toll but would be a great player for the kids to learn from and could come in when injuries and suspensions hit us. Having said all that, if we bring in a striker I expect it to be Bent, Bellamy or Defoe.
  6. Konchesky is not all that but might be ok as cover for Freddie. Don't really want Barry to drop to left back next season as he's fast becoming our midfield general.
  7. nnock, your list reads like champ manager. No one is doubting that the players you list are or may be available but you can't just make a call to their agent and expect em to sign just like that. We will probably bring in 2-3 quality players and 2-3 squad players who are on a par or better level than the current squad players who will most likely leave. Owen to Villa? Not on your nelly!
  8. This is a transfer speculation thread. Not a 'where does Maloney play' thread.
  9. Let's face it, if a player is unsettled him and his agent can usually negotiate a move away. Contract or not, it's frustrating but a fact of modern day football. If Berbatov really wanted to move he would. (not that i'm saying he does!)
  10. Reo Coker could be worth a shot but wouldn't pay over £2million for him. He's got ability, not shown it much this season but he's clearly unhappy at the Hammers. The Premier League is full of talented players who for a number of reasons don't always show it week in, week out every season. Look at Petrov. IMO you can see he has qualities but he needs a season to adjust and is now showing signs of improvement. I know not all posters rate Petrov but he is just one example. On the flip side you can also point to a whole host of players who have 1 good season then fade away (Ricketts etc) but I'd still have Reo Coker as an option in the summer.
  11. Can't see a huge overhaul of the squad to be honest. The basis is there for a good team. 3-4 quality additions with the 'dead wood' going would be fine. See Joey Barton has had a pop again at the Man City boss and players, clearly not happy and would think a new challenge would be just the ticket for him. He's a bell end but a fine player. Would improve us no end and is the sort of player MON would relish working with.
  12. Luke Young, Glen Johnson, Steve Finnan for me from the prem. What about Lucas Neill if the hammers go down? Otherwise you are looking at someone from abroad. Who? Not sure!
  13. Sidwell - fine on a free, but as many have stated, not a signing to capture the imagination and I think players need to be judged on more than 1 season. Look at Michael Ricketts. Simao is class, Sneijder is the real deal and Quaresma would be ace, but, could we attract them without Europe? It would be tough, but you never know.
  14. Sam100, he's an option I suppose but still think we can do better. He's not the 20 goal a season man we crave, we will have to agree to disagree on this one. At the end of the day I wouldn't be too upset if he became a Villan. Nice Avatar by the way!
  15. Sam 100. Cisse is a good player, don't get me wrong, just not sure he's good enough to propel us up the league. He never set the Prem on fire when he was at Liverpool, playing with arguably better players. He has pace to burn but was never convincing. First touch wasn't much better than Baros' and whilst I agree that he is probably better than we have got he is not the answer imo. He also has a bit of laziness about him. Something that can't be levelled at Defoe/Bellamy who have both shown that when playing are more than capable of scoring goals in the Prem.
  16. Saviola on a free could be an option but where to play him. He's not the elusive 20 goal a season man we are allegedly after, he's not a target man and he's not a winger. Could play him up top with Carew but would he get any more goals than JPA, Moore or Gabby? Ashton? Risky after he's been out all season but could be worth a punt at the right price. No more than 5m for me. Cisse? Not good enough imo. Played out of position when at Liverpool which didn't help his cause but not seen enough from him to suggest he could score 20 a season and that, afterall is what we need.
  17. Ricky Villa was also dissapointing whilst at Spurs. Apart from his salvo at Wem-ber-lee of course. Success stories? Only Ardiles springs to mind. International Quality doesn't always translate to the Premier League and i'm not convinced Saviola would be any different to the numerous failures that the Argies have sent to our shores.
  18. Could work in our favour then. IIRC he almost signed when DOL was here but Ellis wouldnSuppose a lot would depend on where Owen Hargreaves ends up. If he stays at Bayern then Van Bommel may be looking for a way out? just speculating here, probably never happen. Sneijder would be awesome too, always thought he'd be a hit in the Premier League.
  19. Could work in our favour then. IIRC he almost signed when DOL was here but Ellis wouldn't sanction the move. Van Bommel would do a job for us and although no spring chicken he would certainly be a step up in quality from McCann.
  20. Parker would be tops but is captain of Newcastle. I'm suprised he's not got in the England Squad. Not sure I can see McCann and Parker in the middle though. Parker covers a lot of ground and drives forward, he likes a tackle and is a good passer of the ball. I think he'd compliment Petrov well. Nolan is a viable alternative but thought he'd signed a new contract with Notlob? NRC would be a good addition provided we don't pay silly money for him. Yes to Foster (even if only on loan), not seen much of Boruc so can't comment.
  21. Yeah, i think the bloke is a dickhead but a very good player. Far more effective when played regularly and given the backing of the manager. Him and Carew would cause chaos. The one thing I like about CB is his workrate. He might be an idiot but he doesn't half work hard. I'd still prefer Bent or Defoe though!
  22. oops! forgot about Ashton (YES PLEASE!!) oh, and for what its worth, no to Reo-coker, good last season but has been pretty shambolic this year. he's yet to prove that he's anywhere near good enough for me.
  23. IMO a good summer would be as follows: a RB (Bardsley if available) a decent CB (preferably someone with experience of playing rather than the treatment room) and any 2 of the following: Barton Appiah SWP Bent Defoe Keane Bellamy
