  1. I read this speculation about Boruc this morning, but to be honest I doubt that MON will really be looking at a goalkeeper as a priority. Priorities have got to be a RB (i think we might sign Bardsley also but only as back up with Hughes definatly leaving), a Left Back as backup for Bouma, a centre back and centre midfielder, and it would appear that O'Neill definatly wants a new striker. Given that we 'only' have £20million to spend, no point to waste it on a GK when its not overly necessary
  2. Sorenson, Mellberg, Bouma, Laurson, Petrov, Angel, Baros - all 'decent' foreign players we have signed. Ok some came from British clubs, others didnt, they still brought there skills and experience to us. Yes only one of these was signed by the current manager but he hasnt had much time to do anything about that really. Rest assured that MON will be scouting abroad, if we sign anyone is a different matter but he'll defiantly be looking as it would be stupid not to, given the pool of players. IMO i cant see why theres any need to panic just yet. If you look at previous transfer windows then its obvious most clubs (with the exception on Utd) not just Villa, leave transfers to the last week or so, its part of the bargaining process. Thinking back to the August window i'm sure the likes of Cole, Gallas, Huth, Woodgate, Tevez and his mate, Malbranque, Graveson, Petrov, Anelka and Martins were all transferred in the last 10 odd days. If still nobody in by Feb 1st, then questions will need to be asked. But im sure MON and the board will get there man, and pay the big prices if need be.
  3. Interesting...I have also heard rumours about this guy, would certainly be good if we could get him, but apparently Inter and Arsenal have been looking at him. Still i'll be surprised (plesently surprised though) if these transfers came through tomorrow. All possible signings but possibly not at the same time. Who knows ?!
  4. Todays paper reckons Viduka will be allowed a move if Boro can get about £1 million for him. Honestly at that price it could well be worth a bid. He's the type of big target man MON likes, and can score a few goals as well. Not sure how old he is, but he could probably give us a couple of seasons. For me he's similar to Angel in the way he can win and hold the ball up, but his goalscoring ablity is better. If we got him, along with a younger striker like Defoe, Bent, Nugent etc or even Moore when he comes back, then we would have a very well balanced strike force
  5. Oh right  Still it was nice of Boro to take him back. Havent seen him play in a while, can he cross. The last thing i remember him doing was harrasing the linesman after Portugal lost in Euro 2000
  6. That Xavier story just posted makes it look like he will be leaving Boro. Given that he only has 10 days to go, I'm sure if they wanted to keep him they would have sorted something out earlier. Seems possible that Boro just kept him on their books during the ban for good publicity. Anyway, I would take him until the end of the season, although Bardsley would be my preferred choice out of all those names mentioned. Although I havent seen the lad from Leicester or Halford so I cant really judge!
