  1. 3 of the top four grounds? That means nothing, you could also change it to say he has scored 3 elsewhere in a whole season. Keep giving posters the sarcastic faces it really helps to prove your arguments have more holes than an old sock.

Erm yes it does mean something, he's proved he can score against the BEST TEAMS in the country, AND NUGENT HASN'T!!, anyone who understands the game would agree, and again you miss the FACT that he's been playing out wide so he's hardly gonna get loads of chances is he?, you told me on another thread to "chill out flower", well i suggest you take your own advise!!.

  2. Obvious to who exactly? In the long run Gabby may be able to run at a player with the ball and come out on the other side with it, he ain't doing that much at the minute.

Obvious with the FACT that Gabby has scored 6 goals in his first full season mainly playing out wide including scoring at three of the top fours grounds, Nugent is older than Gabby and has never played in the premiership, again it's not rocket science.

  3. Because the u21 managers have been nobs :D , and Walcott seem to be the speedy one they chose to play up front with Nugent being the more physical striker, but i think it's obvious that Gabby in the long run is the better player.

    WTF :?

Walcott can run with the ball.

    Gabby can run.

    There is a difference ;):D

And did i say Gabby was better than Walcott?, read my post next time

And also i think it's a bit silly to claim Gabby is just a "runner", the kid can finish as well as most strikers in the league imo.

  4. YOUNG, MOORE, gabby..

all poential players we ned proven palyers now and nugent is another potential player

Demitri top level proven players simply are not going to join a club not even in the UEFA cup. We may get the odd one with some previous baggage (ie Carrew) but not enough to rebuild an entire team straight away. Surely its best to buy these potential top players to compliment the slow influx of proven quality over the next few years.

After all why put all our eggs into one basket and hope the young players we have will make the step up (odds are they all wont) so surely its best to spread the risk and buy as many as we can.

Tottenham and especially Arsenal have been doing it for a while and it has not served them too badly!

And what has spurs won?, what have Arsenal won this season?, at the end of the day there's no way Nugent is better than Moore or Gsbby so for me it wouldn't make sense, especially when there's likely to be the likes of Tevez, Bent and Ashton just waiting to be snapped up in the Summer.

So why is Nugent in front of Gabby in the England U-21 setup? Even playing for a lower division side... just asking

Because the u21 managers have been nobs :D , and Walcott seem to be the speedy one they chose to play up front with Nugent being the more physical striker, but i think it's obvious that Gabby in the long run is the better player.

  6. Eidur was never really the poacher anyway, more likely the joker.

Darren Bent ladies and gentlemen, he is the obvious answer in my book.

I'd have to agree regarding us signing Bent, the only problem is figuring out how much Charlton are gonna demand?, if West Ham did bid 18m for him in January they are gonna want at least 12/13m for him.

  7. Tevez is proven at international level?? i would hardly say that, and anyway so is Milan Baros yet i dont think you would be calling for him back. From what i know Ya Ya Toure is desperate to play in the Premiership, for Arsenal, alongside his brother, now i know we are going places but it will take a while before we can compete with Arseanl. Just because a player wants to play in the Premier does not mean he wants to play for us, it looks increasingly likely we wont even have Uefa Cup footy next year!! Sidwell is the more realistic option and a player many people on here have been calling for since the start of the season.

It's extremely naive to suggest just because Yaya Toure said he'd like to play alongside his brother (of course he would) that it means we couldn't get him, Arsenal were meant to be certs to get him after the world cup while he was at Olympiacos but instead he ended up at Monaco where he's been brilliant, Arsenal simply have too much talent in the middle of the park like Silva, Diaby, Fabrigas ect so as i said before he is gettable, and just because you think Sidwell "is more realistic" (which i think is rubbish) that doesn't mean he's the best option, and if "so many fans here have been calling for Sidwell" where are they now?, i'm sure the majority would agree if there's a better player availible like Toure then the likes of Sidwell are not needed.

  8. So you must think that Petrov will be a big success at Villa because form is temporary and class is permanent. Heres one for you, a quality Argentinian playmaker who was seen as one of the world's best players and went to the best team in the country, Juan Sebastian Veron, he had more experience regarded just as highly but couldn't hack it and not many Argies have. If you can't settle in the league you are no good to us.

None of those four players was huge in build and neither are some of the best DMCs of today in Makelele and Fabregas. I agree the likes of Appiah are good players but you don't need to be a big name to be a good player or part of a good team.

My ambitions for Aston Villa are massive but you must expect it to take a bit of time to be able to compete for the players we want in terms of success and maybe even salary because we don't want to create divisions in the squad like Tevez' beloved Wet Spam.

Petrov is in his first season so i'd be inclined to at least wait until next season before judging him, Veron might not have set the world on fire in England but he did win the title with Manure if i remember right!!, he had his moments that can't be denied and i'd love a player of his quality at Villa, and you're wrong regarding the four players i mentioned, Toure is like Diop in build, Muntari is also 6 foot and strong, and as you've said Appiah is a power house, only Mokoan out of the four isn't that big but he's still better than Sidwell, your worries regarding Tevez "creating divisions" doesn't really hold weight imo, Carew is said to be on good money and at the end of the day if we want to compete with the best we have to pay the going rate, if anyone in the villa squad doesn't agree with that they can put in a transfer request for all i care.

  9. Absolute tosh mate! Most of the best central midfielders in this country over the past 40 years have been Bily Bremner, Johnny Giles, Graeme Souness and Roy Keane none of them are particularly big.

Tevez can be whatever he wants internationally but this is club football, 1200minutes and 1 goal from a set piece.

With regards Wigan last season there is a player I would have signed and his absence from the team is partly responsible for their fall from grace, that man is Jimmy Bullard, not the biggest name like Sidwell but big names don't necessarily win you anything you have to earn it.

You're talking complete rubbish, "big" doesn't exactly have to be in height it can be in strength and build, Sidwell looks not much bigger than Davis to me, and it just proves what your ambitions are for the club if you would have wanted to sign the likes of "Bullard" , and excuse me but did you see Henry and Bergkamp when they first arrived in the premiership?, i think they've proved that form isn't everything and class is perminant, for years we've been signing average players like Mccann and imo Sidwell falls into that bracket, it's time we sign some proven star names who has performed at a high level, we've got Carew and we can get more, don't be scared of change, if you really think Sidwell is better than the likes of Appiah, Toure, Mokoan and Muntari then i'd question if you've ever seen these players play.

  10. Dont you think what you said is a contradiction in terms. Sidwell has been a consitantly good perfomer for Reading a top 8 side all season and no one has said he is the next Viera, just a very very good player, amuch better alternative to Mccann. You then go on to say Tevez a man who has struggled this season and scored only one goal for a team destined to be relegated and you call him the next Zola! I have no doubt that Tevez is a good player and will become a class act, although im not sure if that will necessarily be in England.

As for suggestions for transfer targets i would love to see Ya Ya Toure, Eidur Gudjohnsen..etc but im not sure they can be considered realistic targets just yet!!

Erm i think the fact that Tevez is proven at international level and is a big name in the game has something to do with it  , it's not a "contradiction" at all, and if you wanna talk about "top 8 side" Wigan were in the top 8 for ages last season and got the League cup final so should we sign Lee Mccoulgh now?, if you knew anything about Yaya Toure you'd know he's desperate to play in the same league as his brother (the premiership) and his team Monaco haven't done very well this season, he's been their one bit of quality and i'd be confident we could get him,

Actually alot of people on here have been after Sidwell for the middle of the park from at least the start of this season, he looks a lot closer to Vieira than Tevez looks to Zola at the minute.

Yes but that doesn't mean they are right does it?, imo he's an average player who won't take us to another level, our team is short enough as is it and imo we need someone big and imposing in the middle of the park who can get up and down the pitch and can both defend and create chances, Sidwell isn't even on Boateng's level imo.

  11. I agree Blittle, Sidwell scores a few goals against us and suddenly "he's the next Vieira" or something, he wouldn't take us to the next level imo and is just living off a "good first season" ala Reo-cocker (even though he's clearly class), Davis, Ricketts ect, I think the likes of Yaya Toure, Appiah, Muntari and Mokaon are the way to go in the defensive midfield department, they are light years ahead of Barton, Sidwell and Nolan imo, as for strikers i hope Mon considers Tevez, the man is clearly a class act and at the right club i think he could be the next Zola.

  12. From The Sun

MARTIN O’NEILL is lining up a £6million bid to offer Diomansy Kamara the chance to join his Aston Villa revolution.

Villa boss O’Neill is ready to splash owner Randy Lerner’s cash again this summer and has made West Brom’s leading scorer his main target.

O’Neill has sent scouts to check on the flying Senegalese international in two of Albion’s recent home games.

But O’Neill has been warned by Albion boss Tony Mowbray that it will take a massive offer to persuade the Championship club to sell.

He said: “We don’t want to sell him. Obviously if another club comes in with a ridiculous offer then that will have to be seriously considered.â€

Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Roma have all been keeping tabs on the ex-Portsmouth star, who joined Albion for £1.6m.

You know it's funny, i remember a young French lad who came to the premiership and was written off as "not good enough", then he joined a championship side and scored 30 odd goals and was the main man in his teams title win, then he came back to the prem and set it on fire and earned a transfer to the team who is top of the league right now, what's his name?, oh yeah that's right it's LUISE SAHA :D,

Kamara imo would be a decent signing, he's improved greatly from his days at Pompy, i remember seeing him put on some brilliant displays in Seria-A before he moved to pompy and he was compared to Henry, even Milan was very interested in him, he had everything in his game but the only thing he didn't do was score loads of goals, but it's different now, his finishing has been superb this season and it's clear he's a class abouv Championship level, his goal at the riverside was just an example that he stills knows where the back of the net is on the premiership stage, he's only 25 and it clear Mon is watching the lad, if he continues like he is then i don't see why we shouldn't go for him, people shouldn't be so quick to judge players, i know we all want world class signings but that's not gonna happen right now, i'm sure the Seville fans thought "Freddy Kanoute? wtf?" but he's gone and scored something like 25 goals for them already.

  13. A deal with us and Albion and a deal with us and Wolves? or a deal between Albion and Wolves?

oooh ignore button off, a deal for a player from Wolves and a deal for a player from Albion, both to Aston Villa, a team who abide in Aston, in Birmingham.

Well obviously Davies would be the one from West Brom although the lad Kamara has been on fire this season, and i know we've been linked with Murrey from Wolves but the big midfielder Olifengania (sp) has been pulling up trees in the middle of the park for them from what i've seen and he's got big potential,

  14. I've heard through some mates in Leicester that Villa are making a bid for Leicester midfielder Levi Porter. I know next to nothing about him, but apparently he's a tiny 19-year-old with alot of potential. Should be interesting.

I saw the lad make his debut this season for Leicester and i thought he was definitely one for the future and it would be an excellent signing imo, he looks a bit like Joachim in build and he's as fast as anything, he's left footed with lots of skill and has been giving right backs a very hard time from what i've seen of him, he can also play up front too and has scored 3 goals for them, he reminds me of Lennon a little bit, obviously not as polished but can reach those standards with the right coaching (Mon) imo,

he scored the winner in this vid

  15. I said a few months ago that I thought we would try and exploit the untapped markets like Eastern Europe and Africa. On seeing some of these latest link, it seems I may have been right (depending on their authenticity of course).

Seems like a bloody good idea to me, gettable talent at rock bottom prices.

Completely agree, Arsenal have been taking the piss as far as getting all the talent from Africa is concerned and it's time we took the same path,

  16. I can't believe the Harewood bashing tonight, The man scored 18 goals for West Ham last year including 4 against us, 1 each against Manure and Chelski, And again he proved he could score against the big boys by scoring the winner against Arsenal this season and also set up Reo-cocker for the winner against Manure, I mean yes he's not the world class superstar we all hope will grace villa park but to write him off before he's even signed is harsh, I'm not sure if the deal will even happen but let's give Mon's signings a chance at least,

  17. On talksport this morning they had a reporter from the Scottish press on and he said we have been in contact with Rangers about Ferguson already, I must say i'd be ok with us signing him, He didn't do too badly at Blackburn after he got over the injury and i'd liken him to Petrov to be honest, The talent is obviously there he just needs time to settle, For me Ferguson is a step up in class from Mccann as he's very good going forward as well as tough in the tackle and he's a leader which we badly miss,

  18. I think Curtis Davies is on the list without doubt as i mentioned before, Bardsley too and we've also been strongly linked with Qpr's left winger Lee cook, And i wouldn't rule out Matt Murrey the way our goalkeepers have been going, I must say i'd be dissapointed if Nugent is the only striker brought in as i'm not sure he's any better than Luke, With the likes of klasnic and Carew on the market there's lots of choices but let's just see what happens,
