  1. One thing that has really got my goat about the ref on Sunday and some may say it was good 'man management', but can it be right that he gives a team the chance to substitute a player before he has to send him off. Kovac was clearly given a last warning, rather than the ref doing his job, giving West Ham the chance to take him off. I know it may not add up to much but I found it frustrating and clearly favoured the offending team. Hey ho, moan over

  2. Ref had a shocker?

I know he got the handball wrong, it was Chimbonda that handballed, not Heskey.

But the Gabby one was never a penner, and he was right to yellow Gabby in my opinion, he dived. He'd dived before he'd made contact with Samba, no where near enough momentum to carry him over either.

what the hell has momentum got to do with it. Are you really saying that the fouled player has to be running fast enough for the trip to make him fall over?
  3. my observations: Im sorry but cuellar was f**king putrid tonight, turned it over every time he got the ball, blackburn look like giant cans of redbull, apparently you get booked for getting tripped in the box but not for elbowing redheads in the face. would have been nice to get a 2nd goal but will take a one goal lead!!!!

    Regards,

    (representing villa Adelaide style)

Agree. Cuellar's distribution was awful, like having Mellberg back at right-back.

Can't understand why Young was bench, unless it was injury. His form doesn't warrant being dropped.

Cuellar is shit at right-back, it should be centre half or bench for him after tonights disply!

I'd imagine he was there to challenge Blackburn's height more effectively from a defensive point of view.

He kept giving the ball away or just hammering it aimlessly up field.

Yes but he's not there for his distribution skills is he?

But whats the point of winning the ball if you're going to give it back all the time?

Luke Young would have been fine tonight.

**** me. We won and still people aren't happy!!!!! Jeeeezzzz
  4. I know I may have claret and blue tinted specs, and I need to see the disallowed goal again, but I don't get this Stoke deserved something that alot of fans are coming out with.

They certainly put a lot of energy into the game and created pressure to an extent, but any team that is more likely to hit the corner flag than the goal really doesn't deserve much.

Sorenson was the most worked keeper and but for a couple of blocks in front of goal we may have had more than the one goal.

Anyway its a Claret and Blue world at the moment.

  5. Just an opinion regarding the turn out at the match. I couldn't give a flying one how many we took. At the end of the day, we're 10 days way from Christmas, it's the second time we've played at the SOL in 2 months, we're still on the back end of a recession, it was a Tuesday night, it was a freezing, tickets were £27, and a lot of people had just paid £50ish to go to Man Ure 3 days ago.

Looking at the some Sunderland sites, they're panning us for our turn out, but I can 100% confirm the 700 odd of us that were there could not have been more passionate and vocal. So to reiterate I couldn't give a shit if we take 50 or 5000 to an away game. We still all get behind the lads and make a good time of it no matter what.

You are right, add into the fact we are going to Emirates next week, and then 3 cup ties in 14 days - people don't realise how much it is costing at the moment. I'm a season ticket holder, go to the odd away game , by no wherer near most, and I've gotta fork out over 200 quid extra for me and the kids in the next two weeks.

Sunderland fans have to reailse, they are one of the least attractive games, probably only 2nd to Pompey due to the distance. I had a choice go to Sunderland , or Emirates AND the Cup Semi Final - guess which ones I chose !

In fact I commented last night to a guy at work - there is something to be said for being crap - at least it's cheaper !.

Well done for those who went up.

The sunderland fans can't exactly say they turned up in numbers. There was only 34k there. Doesn't their ground hold about 46k???Agree with what you say, lots of games in a short space of time + christmas + new year = less fans going to away games.

at least 3000 of their fans decided that two games in a week was too much to fork out for.
  6. I also think that the defensive strength we have now is the basis on which we can achieve the results we are getting. To lose a main member of the defense and bring on a sub and change the structure and add to the defensive capabilities n the pitch is brilliant. Fergie must be creaming over the quality of the Villa defense.
