  1. When you read what Pingu is saying in the press you realise that that shit club are run by complete **** dick heads.

I got an email from Aston Villa, finally replying to all of our queries," confirmed Pannu.

"As expected, their legal department said 'now Alex McLeish is a free agent having resigned, we're free to speak to him'. This confirms all suspicions. This shows what has happened.

All this shows is that AV sent an email in response to another email

"The urgency of the whole thing, with this email from Aston Villa, shows they can't even wait 17 days when the compensation is lower. It shows what this is all about.

Why would any business pass up the oportunity to save £2.4m for the sake of 17 days. With all due respect I can't see AM being snatched from under our noses even if we were in for him

"I'll be reporting what's happened to the Premier League. This is like conspiracy to defraud.

"It's borderline criminal. That's how strong I'll put it."

This isn't like anything other than defamation of character and RL should sue the smelly clearing in the woods.

  2. There are a number of things about all this that have really wound me up and despite trying to keep my on counsel I have to put them out there.

As a footballing business I would expect my club to consider all options when it comes to the choice of manager, even if in the long run the chances of actually appointing them are slim. This is part of due diligence and shows that you are doing things in the right way.

As a footballing business I would expect my club not to be influenced by uninformed external influences. At the end of the day the Chairman, CEO and Board stand or fall by their own decisions and need to be free to make those decisions and also not to be rushed into a poor decision, as I think the comments from GK were trying to convey.

The only comment that has actually come out of VP was in relation to Martinez after Whelan spoke to the press to say we have made a formal and professional approach to Wigan to ask to speak to their current manager.

There have been no other comments coming out of VP but every ex-player/manager/journo with someone prepared to listen to them knows what the hell is going on in VP and unfortunately this is what is widing people up. Idle speculation and poor journalism from people who have no sources inside VP to give them the inside track.

As a footballing business I would expect my clubs legal advisors to seek the opinion of another club as to the position they feel is in existance in respect of a manager who has just resigned so if they did choose to speak to that person they would not end up in a ligitious position.

Pannu(Pingu) has stated that for all he knows RL has flown out to meet AM to discuss the vacant position at Villa. Likewise for all I know RL may have flown to Vegas to have a night with cheap hookers, drinking whiskey and blowing the family fortune on Red.

ALl this talk of protesting about a manager that the bookies think we will appoint will do nothing but to provide the idle press with more column inches and add to the growing furore that Villa is a club in crises and doesn't know what they are doing, which I actually believe they do.

Don't get me wrong, I think the appointment of AM would be wrong on so many levels but that is my personal choice. I also though Saunders moving to the scum was his biggest mistake ever at the time, but being somewhat older and wiser now I can see the political motive RS had behind the move in respect of shafting the Bendalls.

Lets give this time. If it turns out that AM is appointed protest in what ever way you want. Don't go to games if you want, but please, please, please don't listen to every bit of tripe being spouted by the great multitude of people in the know, because really they don't.

  3. Thank you for your patience gentlemen, and welcome to this afternoon's press conference. Apologies for the late start, but I'm sure you're aware that there have been some delicate negotiations going on, and these things take some time.

Before making any announcements I'd like to thank all the local caterers for their generosity with their time. As you can imagine, there were a number of candidates keen to apply for the very desirable post of my lunch. I am aware that there were several rumours circulating about whether I would go for some exotic foreign name, with the hint of glamour that inevitably accompanies it.

In the end, after much deliberation, I decided that now is not the time to be taking risks with my digestive system, and in the end had little hesitation in opting for a tried and tested candidate.

So, without further ado, I would like to announce that my choice of lunch was:

Cornish pasty, caramel shortbread and a cup of coffee.

I'm sure you will agree that they now need to be left alone to get on with their job. We will not be taking questions at this time.

    Thank you.

    Absolutely typical.

The reticence that preceded the announcement allowed space for such a hotbed of speculation (also fuelled by apparent ITKs such as Mr Plums) that some of us were conjuring up all sorts of menus from caviar and champagne to an exotic mix of italian cured meats washed down with a pint of Fuller's.

The lack of ambition shown in your eventual choice has now made all of us dreamers look rather daft; we can only surmise that you don't aspire to moving up to a seat at the top of the table and instead are satisfied with mid dining table mediocrity.

    Out with the (cheese) board.

With the new UEFA rules being brought in regarding spending within your means and the strict dietry regime instigated by the Chairman (AKA The Wife) I had to sign a Boots Shapers Prawn Mayo with Snack a Jacks and Diet Coke. May not be the marquee manager we were all looking for but I hope that it the long term it brings benefits to my waistline.
  4. I don't seem to meet any of the criteria on the website for getting a ticket. Been a difficult year this season for getting to games, but fancy this one. Do you think if I phone up I have a chance of getting one?

  5. General - You will know that in times of difficulty the troops need to see decisive leadership. As the clubs 'troops' we have been left wondering what has happened to our leaders. There seem to be none on the pitch and definitely no sign of a firm hand on the tiller in the Board Room.

If it is Randy's choice that Bob Bradley is the man he wants then he needs to stand up and say this. We may not agree with him but atleast it will be a postive decision a leadership decision.

At the moment we appear to have a man who so obviously doesn't really want to be in charge who I expect will be their until Tuesday so that the leaders of the club can point fingers else where for the troubles we are in.

Leadership is all we ask for.

  6. I can't understand the negative comments. It was our second competitive game of the season played by mainly a side that didn't participate significantly in the first. Most of the side I don't think had started more than one first team game.

They were playing away against a strong mid tier European side and despite some iffy moments game away with a scoring draw which puts us in a good position going into the second leg, where we will more than likely have two or three regular first teamers in the side and will hopefully progress into the group stages.

I though Hogg, Lichaj et el whilst not putting in outstanding performances that could be raved about, didn't do a lot wrong and although RV had a lot of pressure, how many times did they hit the target.

The one area of concern is re Guzan and the way he deals with the set piece ball knocked in towards his 6 yd area. He clearly has a weakness there which has been picked up on by other teams and if you look at the goals he has conceded they have in the main been from that type of situation. Something for the Coaching team to work on??

  7. I can understand the dilema. You sell a high earning player, maybe get someone earning as much in part exchange, but then want to add to the quad and increase the wage bill as a result. I think the club have made it clear to all and sundry what their aim is re wages to revenue and at some point have to make a stand on this issue. Obvioulsy one MoN was not prepared to accept.

  8. Given that alot of clubs spend so much time having to fight off approaches from other clubs and this can detract from their own rebuilding plans becasue of the uncertainty it creates, I believe FIFA/UEFA should introduce a rule that states a club can only make a bid for a player twice in a season. If they are rejected then they can not do so again for 12 months.

I can see us being in the same position we were with Liverplop and Barry with a summer of press generated bidding.

Saying that £30m and Adebyour and I'd say probably yes.

  9. So glad we've won these last 2 games and kept ourselves in the race for 4th. Why? Not just for the obvious reason but also because I'll be going to this game on Sunday and it's my first derby game and since I don't come from Birmingham this game wont mean as much to me as it will to many other fans (it'll still mean a lot to me though). Now that we've come up with these results this game isn't just about getting another one over on SHA but also about staying in the race for 4th.

    2-1 to Villa.

Prepare for a very different atmosphere to a normal game, there is an edge to them you can almost feel.

Oh I don't know. I always found them jolly, friendly affairs.........apart from the fact that we hate them and they hate us!!!!
  10. Whats the cheapest train for Saturday to Wembley from Brum?

Was gonna go on Premier this time, but I heard there's £10 trains. Is that true?

yes. London Midland are doing tickets, off peak for £10

How can I buy these £10 tickets?

I followed the link, typed in the destination, but it doesnt seem to mention the £10 fares when it comes to calculating my journeys cost.

I just selected london as my destination and birmingham stations as my starting point departing after 11.30 and returning after 8.

When you then get to the page where you get to select you outward and return journey you should have a £10 return option in the outward fares box, I selected the open return, leaving at 11.33.

    Hope this helps

  11. London Midland are doing a maximum 10 quid return anywhere on their network over 2 weeks in April.

    http://www.londonmidland.com/sale

If you have a railcard as well you can basically get to London for £6.70 return

Don't know if you saw it mate, if you did sorry.

do you know if you can come back on the saturday night using this ticket, as i have had a look before and cant work it out for myself (probably being a

    retard)

preferably i wanted to come back as late as possible (think 22:00 is the last train)

if not, i will give them a bell

I cant figure out what and which trains return from Euston to new St either according to the timetable Im looking at. The last train back that i can see shows 18:46? tried to call them but cant get through

The London Midland £10 open return train stops at Wembley Central en Rout to Euston any way just to let you know.

And the return instead of getting on at Euston get on at Wembley Central.

Departing at 20.08/20.46/20.52 ( this would be the same train departing Euston) I have rang London Midland and this is fine.

Just booked my £10 bargain. Heading off from NS at 11.33. 2.5hr journey but I am sure we will find things to do to kill the time. Oh and heading to the Green Man for a pre match libation
  12. Am I excited about going to see Villa play in the Semi Final in the FA at Wembley, then no, but I wouldn't be if it was at the Emirates or OT. It is the semi-final of the FA Cup which could take us to the final, so i am excited about the semi but its venue doesn't matter other than its a shite place to get to.

  13. Why the hell can't we score like that for the entire game and not just 10-15 minutes?

I don't think that matters. I'd rather rattle in 3/4 goals in a short space of time at anypoint in a game as long as we win.

Man U left it til the 90+ minute to score twice and win the European Cup.

Its about winning at the end of the day, and this side seems to have started to pick up the habit, they didnt have last Feb/March & April.

Just keep the winning habit however it comes.

  14. Right - I was well pissed off at half time. They were shite and deserved all the criticism heading their way.

However, this team have been beaten once since January, only lost 5 games in the league and have taken me to Wembley twice in a season.

I don't really care how they win as long as they do. I don't care if MoN has to breathe fire up their arses to get a performance out off them, the best managers have to be able to do that.

I am concerned about the fixture pile up we are heading for and whether we have the depth of squad to deal with it, but **** it. Whatever happens now its been a great **** season.
