  1. Heskey ain't going lads... who would want him?

Would be quite please if we got rid of Sidwell though. Hopefully that would mean more opportunity for Delph, Albrighton and Reo-Coker.

If we had another £100k available for wages, how much would Keane take up? I reckon he'd want £50-60k, meaning £40-50k for a backup left back and possibly another young midfielder

  2. We had this conversation last summer, and we'll be having this conversation every summer until the Premier League implements some restrictions to keep the league competitive. If it keeps going like it is, the rich will just get richer, while the small clubs fall by the wayside or disappear completely. What's the point in having a sporting league where money is the primary factor in how a team performs?

  3. Does anyone think that selling Milner will make it much harder for us to bring in a suitable replacement due to inflated prices? If a good James Milner is all of a sudden worth £30 something million, how much does that shift the value of players like Parker, Ireland, Carrick etc? The Lescott transfer last year had the same effect - it makes the transfer market in England completely disproportionate to the rest of Europe. This is why MON needs to look abroad if Milner leaves to get the best deal - very unlikely given his past dealings.

  4. I didn't see the game - but Blackburn beat Arsenal last weekend so they came into this game in form and with nothing to lose. We might not have played well but to be honest the season's been pretty good overall. We've finished above Liverpool and managed to maintain a race for top 4 all season, whilst doing well in 2 cups. We've finished with a better points total than last year (best since the early 90s I think?)

Let's not get too depressed by one result and consider the fact that Villa under MON and Lerner is the best period of league campaigns we've had in years. Here's hoping Randy backs MON in the summer and we bring in some quality to replace the deadwood.

  5. It seemed to me that for all our possession in the second half we just didn't have much cutting edge. The wing play is quite predictable, and without a creative striker we just don't have someone who can create something out of nothing.

4th spot is going to be tight, but out of all the teams I think we're the least likely.
