  1. I wake up in the morning and the first thing I have to do is check ceefax page 338, then page 302. Then drive to work with talksport on just in case theres an announcement. Then get to work and check out Newsnow, VT and BBC Villa homepage

Not saying I am keen for new signings or anything though.

    :lol::D

You think that's bad?! I check newsnow, VT, SSN and BBC Sport pages about 100 times a bloody day. It really is a bad addiction because I never get any work done in the transfer windows!

  2. We really need to stop fannying about trying to sign overpriced English players playing for relegation looming teams, and try and bring in some foreign quality. It may take time for some of them to settle, but if we brought 4/5 top quality foreign players and only 2/3 settled quickly, then we'd probably have a much stronger team than we do now. I can't see the Tevez/Mascherano/Kia effect happening at Villa.

  3. Reports suggest that Martin Jol and striker Mido have had a falling out which looks set to see the Egyptian frontman move away from White Hart Lane in January.

The Mirror suggests that Jol is not happy with Mido and they have had several arguments in the past weeks, mostly regarding the striker not turning up for training.

The newspaper also suggests that the falling out was the reason behind Spurs chasing Darren Bent during the transfer window.

Worth a bid? He's still a good age, but he's never been prolific. Baros Mk2 probably

  4. Aston Villa want Chelsea’s Kalou

    14:10 January, 10, 2007

Chelsea Football Club have been told they can have Milan Baros for the rest of the season – if they allow Salomon Kalou to move in the opposite direction.

The champions are believed to be keen on the Aston Villa striker as they look to relieve some of the goalscoring burden from Ivory Coast international Didier Drogba, who has been in great form this season.

However, Baros’ agent has told sport.cz that Martin O’Neill will only consider letting the Czech Republic striker leave Villa Park if a replacement is found.

"At present, we are waiting until Aston Villa find an adequate replacement for Milan,†said Pavel Paska. "It is very likely that if this does not happen, there will be no progress in negotiations."

And rumours in the Midlands suggest O’Neill has set his sights on a cheeky loan bid for Kalou, who has made seven Premiership starts since his summer move from Feyenoord.

However, manager Jose Mourinho is unlikely to part company with the youngster as he sees him playing a big role for the club in the second half of the season.

    From Fans FC

About as reliable as the Sun, but at least its another player we're linked with. It sounds a journalist has put 2 and 2 together.

I'd be interested in Kalou coming on loan with an option to buy, but to be honest he's missed so many sitters, I would hope MON wouldn't play him up front. As a right winger or attacking mid then he's much better.

  5. Sulley Muntari would welcome a move to England, his agent has confirmed.

The Udinese midfielder is a long-term target of Portsmouth, while Middlesbrough have also been credited with an interest.

Thus far Udinese look to have priced the 22-year-old out of a move, but earlier this month the club's president Giampaolo Pozzo admitted Muntari might leave.

Now Stefano Antonelli admits a Premiership switch is high on Muntari's agenda.

"For the player, to go to England does appeal, but at this moment there is nothing there," Antonelli told AGR.

"It is possible an agreement for the sale in January could be found, but the sale of the player is for Udinese to decide, and in general teams like midfielders and so it will cost."

GO ON MARTIN SIGN HIM UP!!!

Seriously, this guy would be our Viera, our Makalele, our Alonso... and at what cost? Probably no more than £6M.

  6. My mate saw Neil Lennon in a restaurant with Martin O'Neill last night, looks like he could be signing for Villa pretty soon.

    Jim Brozier - Horsham

Goodness me, we do have a lot of people who are completely unable to smell BS when it arrives.

I don't doubt that Mr Brozier is talking bullshit. But there is certainly a link between Lennon & MON that with or without these rumours on Sky Sports, might actually materialise. Lennon's not a bad player in my opinion, but like many I don't think it would be a step in the right direction either.

  7. We should go for Ben Haim. Highly rated imo

Skysports says Curbs has enquired about Ben Haim.

Now I don't think we need him especially, but if West Ham are approaching clubs left right and centre, and its being reported in the press, then why aren't our approaches. This concerns me slightly, although I suppose we could be doing all our business under the radar.#

I'm quite hoping MON pulls something special out the bag and some of the VT members can stop whinging, because all this moaning is what we were used to under Ellis.

  8. One of our big problems is lack of creativity, and this has to be due to the midfield. We've got enough strikers to see us through to the end of the season. Getting another two in and only selling Baros would seem a bit wasteful at the moment when we've got Gabby, Angel, Moore to partner any new striker. I don't think we need 5 strikers. Far more the priority should be a couple of creative midfielders who can create plenty of chances each game.

  9. I think people are getting far too anxious. Since the transfer window opened we've had 2 games, and already people are furious we haven't signed 5 or more players. The truth probably is that all these clubs with decent players who might be available aren't going to sell to the first bidder. Behind the scenes there's probably chairman's on the phone every day trying to sort out deals or out-bid their rivals. Chances are a lot of clubs won't even make a decision on an offer until the last week of the window. The latter is probably the reason that not a lot has happened before the window opened - the selling clubs have probably said that they won't make any decisions till the end of January. Don't give up hope lads, I'm sure MON is working his magic and by the end of Jan it will all be roses. After all, what have Newcastle or West Ham got to offer that we don't?

  10. Udinese await Iaquinta offer

    Friday 5 January, 2007

Udinese are ready to sell Vincenzo Iaquinta to Milan if the Rossoneri make an adequate offer, confirmed director general Roberto Zanzi.

The World Cup winner has been heavily paired with a move to the San Siro, although the Bianconeri management had reiterated recently that he would not be released.

“There have been no offers, but if the Rossoneri were to present one then they would have no problems in buying him,†said Zanzi to the GRT news agency.

“We will consider all requests and this is definitely a deal where the offer would be very important,†added the official, whose club value the attacker at £8.5m.

“In any case, we will wait and see, we are in no hurry whatsoever.â€

Zanzi then moved on to speak about Sulley Ali Muntari, who he does not believe can become a target for other Italian clubs.

“He has great qualities, unfortunately this year he has got into trouble a few times from a disciplinary point of view.

“Sulley is an excellent person, but sometimes he lets foreign mermaids lure him. It is difficult for him to become a target on the Italian market.â€

Fabio Quagliarella of Sampdoria, who is co-owned by Udinese, has netted some spectacular goals so far and has been eyed by several sides, including Milan and Inter.

“It’s too early to talk about Quagliarella,†noted Zanzi.

“The market has just started and there are still six months ahead of us before the end of term. The player did well last year as well, but he has finally found the continuity he needed.â€

So Iaquinta is available... he's exactly what we need at a good price. And I'd take Muntari in a heartbeat to strengthen our midfield.

  11. Have it on good authority that Darren Bent will be heading to Spurs with Keane going to Villa.

    Stephen Fletcher - Basildon

Liverpool will look at Fernando Torres if they can offload Peter Crouch for £11m to Newcastle, Juventus or Aston Villa

    G Hiscock - Newport, Gwent

Rumour has it that despite PLG's departure Barry ferguson is still on his way out of Ibrox possibly to Villa in a £4.5M deal. David Murray has apparently told Ferguson that the new manager will need funds to restructure the team and because of this and Fergusons conduct recently he will be moved on.

    Bob Fairley - Larkhall

I have heard from excellent sources in Asia that Lee Chun Soo, who starred for South Korea at World Cup 2006, is on his way to Aston Villa in the January transfer window.

    Paul Meehan - Singapore
