Not at all.....
I think we are in for another summer of pure speculation and nothing at the end of it...
Please prove me wrong MON
:|
The question isn't whether we'll sign anyone (we will) the question is how good they'll be.
I've gone for the end of this month, Tom Huddlestone.

I love my country, but the football team i find myself not caring most of the time. The team has players i don't even like, Ferdinand, Ashley Cole, Rooney, Beckham, Gerrard, Barry etc. and i find it hard to want them to do well. I have never cheered a Gerrard goal for England, he's a cock when he's playing for Liverpool so nothing changes when he pulls on an England top.
Sometimes i actually find myself wanting the other team to score, like against Kazakhstan at Wembley i actually laughed when they scored.
England are a distant second behind Villa and i'd much rather see Villa win anything than England anyday. Everyone i know says club>country, apart from a Walsall fan (you'd say the same if you had to watch them) and a Liverpool fan who never goes to games, says it all.

I quite liked the (nick nack paddywack) Petrov one earlier so I rejigged it!
P E T, R O V
Stan Petrov is the one for me
With Stan on the ball
You know we're gonna score
Then you'll hear the Villa roar
(repeat)
The other one was better
''With a knick knack paddy whack give the dog a bone
Why don't Barry **** off home''
''We all agree, Petrov is better than Barry''
-
''He said he wanted Champions League, Barry Barry
But then he left for Man City, Barry Barry
He lied to us the greedy tw@t
But he's too slow and he's too fat
Barry you can stick your letter up your arse''
-
Barca to beat Real in the Bernabeu next year.
-
Thats how football should be played, pass and move. They played like Spain did when they won the Euros last year, and they're just far superior technically.
Man Utd played like a typical English team, try and get stuck into 'em and got it forward as quick as they could. Only they couldn't get near them and couldn't get the ball back after hitting it forward.
-
Completely outclassed, and funny as f*ck to watch.
Xavi & Iniesta v Giggs and Carrick, haha!
I don't buy all this 'support the English team' rubbish, they're the same idiots who say they hate England and chant Argentina.

Need to be singing about Barry 2mro. We havent sung his name at Home since last Summer!
Have to give him some indication that wed love him to stay.
You having a laugh? I couldn't care less what he does anymore. The simple fact is if he doesn't want to be here then thats it, sell him. Why should we sing his praises and suck up to him hoping that he stays? He's not even that good.

Pace - Both have Tortoise pace.
Goals - Both only score 1 or 2 a season from open play.
Stamina - Both get knackered easily and don't have much energy.
Tackling - Petrov. Barry can't tackle for shit, he just bundles into the player and gives a free kick away.
Passing - Both have excellent passing.
Plus the big factor, Petrov actually wants to be here, Barry doesn't. Bye Gareth.

We should sing Luke Young to the Hey Jude tune a la Luke Moore.

Found this today whilst sorting out my home office, the wonders of a mobile with a camera saved me borrowing a scanner too.
Aged 16 at Batchley Social Club, Redditch. They could have told me it was going to be such a one-off I might have smiled!
I thought of a young Andy Gray when i first saw this.
And Dom-Wren IS Tom Scavo out of Desperate Housewives

Martin Laursen woooah
Martin Laursen woooah
We thought he was a star
The best since Paul McGrath

5 people said yes, wtf?
I would boo the **** everytime he touched the ball at Villa Park, Villa player or not, that would give the club the message if everyone booed and he wouldn't play again.
-
Forget his attitude and whatever, i don't even think he's any good. It's not like saying ''That Messi is a bit of a barsteward, he's beat a few people up and is generally hated, would you sign him?''.
-
No. I'd boo him, he's scum and should be in jail.
-
Ripping off Jesus Christ super star (like has been stated above that the mancs did for Berbatov) would be ideal for Stan.
Stil-yian, Pet-rov,
He came to the Villa from up above.
Stil-yian, Pet-rov,
He was shit to start now we can't get enough.
Followed by:
Aston Villa's Stilyian Petrov
Aston Villa's Stilyian Petrov
Aston Villa's Stilyian Petrov
Aston Villa's Stilyian Petrov
How does that actually go? Typing Jesus Christ Superstar into Youtube and it brings a right load of shit up.

right then bear with me on this one and make any changes as this is just off the top of my head for Mr Petrov
To the tune of My Way
And our, player of the year
For the claret and blue, he is Bulgarian
He’ll shoot, get that ball clear
Dominate midfield, that much were certain
And once from the halfway line
He put it in, it was unheard of
And more much more than this
Stiliyan peeeeeetrrooooov
That's a very good song, You'd have to speed the tune up slightly when you sing it though compared to the original imo.
Just a question for you Stretford, why don't you sing Berbatov's name? When you play you sing about every player virtually except him. Is it that you don't like him or what?
We have a couple of Berbasongs, but they seemed to dissapear half-way through the season. We started off just singing "Dimitar Berbatov" to the tune of some George Harrison song, and then later "Dim-i-tar Ber-ba-tov, one look at City and he said **** off" (Jesus Christ Superstar, sped up).
Not sure why people started singing them less and less all the time though. Probably because Berbatov doesn't bloody do anything!
It's hard to sing songs during a game about a player who spends the majority of the 90 minutes standing around moving about as often as a mannequin.
I just wondered thats all, like i say i watch your games on tv and you hear nearly everyone's name and as he's a striker you'd expect to hear his name aswell.
The team i play for my team mates call me 'Berba' because they say i play like him the way i run, my touch etc, and i prefer to say it's a languid style rather than lazy

You'll never beat the first man!
You'll never beat the first man!
For Petrov we should use the old Agbonlahor tune, the tune Spurs sang for Berbatov:
''Stil-i-yan Petrov, Stil-i-yan Petrov...
-
Any ideas for a chant for Petrov? He's our player of the season yet we never even sing his name.
-
''Southgate's goin down, he's goin down, he;s goin down, he's goin...''
''A bigger club? You're havin a laugh! A bigger club? You're havin a laugh!''
''Always look on the bright side of life der der....''
''We'll never play here again''
and the obligatory '' We'll meet again....''
-
General,
We finished 6th last season, say we finish 5th this season, what are the board's objectives for next season realistically? And what if MON doesn't meet Randy's expectations next year?

Theres only one way to find out.....
FIGHT!

I said no before and it's even more of a no after today. He doesn't look interested and he's too slow to get forward or get back. He rarely scores from open play and he offers no protection to the back four. I said we should have snapped Liverpool's hands off last summer.
It's easy saying that now though isn't it, following a poor performance from the team, not just Barry, the team.
Although I wasn't happy with his behaviour in the summer and his attempts to engineer a move to Liverpool, I think O'Neill did the right thing in reinstating him to the side, because he's one of, if not the, best player we've got. He may lack pace, but he makes up for it in another areas and if he does leave in the summer, we'll be a worse side for it and we'll struggle to replace him.
Read my post, i said i said it at the time and i said 'no' before today's game, i'm not just saying it after today.
If we replace him with a younger player with quality, who can actually run, scores a few goals and has the energy to get up and down we will be a better side. What does Barry actually do? He's a good passer of the ball thats about it.
Fair enough, you've been of the same opinion RE Barry since the summer and your post was not based on today, fair enough.
But for the vast majority of the season, he's been in very good form in my opinion.
Name someone better that will come to Villa Park and that we can afford?
Someone like Diego, Moutinho, Defour, they're not in the same role as Barry but i think we need someone different to him. Like i said we need someone with energy, pace, scores goals and has a bit of creativity about them. Obviously a player like that might be hard to get but i've no doubt there has to be someone out there who would come and is affordable, whether our scouts spot them or whether O'Neill goes for them is another matter.
