  1. Benteke a clear MOTM I think, two goals and that backheel that was absolutely world class by anyone's definition.

Weimann, Baker, Clark and Guzan were all terrific as well. Apart from the first 15, everyone played brilliantly.

Absolutely excellent win away from home. 3 massive points and a crapload of confidence.

  2. It would have to at least pay my mortgage off so the first figure that comes to mind is Aus$300,000.

Probably a lot more than that.

But who knows? It's not something I can really answer without the money on the table in front of me.

It's easy to say "i'd never do it" but if someone put $1,000,000 on the table in front of you, things might be different.

  3. From what I've gathered:

    * rugby union: mostly middle class and up fan base (akin to the UK)

    * rugby league: middle class and down fan base, localized to NSW and Qld

    * aussie rules: middle class and down fan base, the rest

    * association football: young, urban, more immigrant fan base

Since the map doesn't show any regional variation, it wouldn't surprise me if the source is a national, as opposed to a per-state survey (indeed, only the US and Afghanistan, AFAICT, show regional-level variations), in which case the rugby league and aussie rules fans pretty much cancel each other out and cricket wins by default.

    Pretty close.

QLD and NSW are Rugby, with as you say, the upper class leaning toward Union and the lower class leaning toward League.

All the other states are Aussie Rules dominant. The AFL is comfortably the biggest and most successful sporting league in the country.

Football is slowly emerging with the A League now about 8 years old. The support levels are still absolutely dwarfed by the AFL and NRL though.

Cricket is the one sport we all agree on I guess. Living in South Australia I think of Aussie Rules as our national sport because it's the one sport that's uniquely ours, and the AFL is enormous over here.

  4. I thought he'd play quite well for 89 minutes but just do something really stupid to give up a cheap goal too often.

Hacking a guy down on the edge of the box, or being sent embarrassingly the wrong way by a winger and waltzed past.

  5. When Abramovich bought Chelsea, a mate of mine who had supported them all his life decided he didn't want to anymore because he felt they'd sold out and didn't represent what he wanted to support. He mulled over it and started to follow a few different clubs before coming back to Chelsea because ultimately, they were his club.

    I'd absolutely love it tbh.
