  1. Something about the performance, the tactics, the result, along with other events and results, seems to sum up a growing feeling I have that we are back to where we were when O'Dreary left, in many more ways than one.

There really was little between the sides, that 5-1 seems like it was from another World.

  2. Appalling. Anyone still think Macdonald would be a good idea ? Remember Randy widely touting him along with many others a couple of weeks ago, now we've ballsed up our easiest opening set of fixtures for years.

No spirit, no fire, no tactics, no heart. Like going back 4 years.

  3. Its gonna be a hard season no matter who came in this season.

Lots will change next summer i just hope we dont fall too far back.

anything in the top 12 will be good this season.

below that and we are in trouble.

Why are so many saying this.??. We only lost 1 player ??? 6th should be the minimum requirement from all fans else the Club have gone backwards and someone should say why.

  4. does no-one else see any irony in this statement:

...it just will always piss me off the crap he got from the know it alls on here.

    being followed with this one:

But, ok, moving on- at least this is Mcdonalds last game !

What irony - I have always said I don't want Mcdonald, and always said MON was a terrific manager ? No conflict in what I said here

didnt say it was a conflict - its ironic, you calling people who criticsed mon as "know-alls" but then saying you are glad its kevin (fifteen years of reserve team management at villa) macdonalds last game! you arent a "know-all" though...

Those criticising MOn were criticising a manager who brought us consecutive top 6 fineshes, yet they thought he wasn't good enough.

I am saying I will be glad to see the back of a guy who has acheived nothing at all in the Premier League. Not his fault, but it will be a good thing when he goes. Again, so I see no irony whatsoever.

  6. MON definately wasnt clueless but hes gone so who cares (and i was one of his biggest fans)

Fair enough - it just will always piss me off the crap he got from the know it alls on here.

But, ok, moving on- at least this is Mcdonalds last game ! We still have some good players, we should improve , lets just hope we scrape this one for now. We will need a bit of luck tho'.

  7. We have a very weak midfield, skillful but no bite. I dread to think what the likes of Essien, Lampard, Malouda and Mikel will do to us in a few weeks, they will absolutely hammer us if we have no protection.

It's only 1 player different to last year.

Maybe the Manager makes a difference ?

  8. I hope the Luke Young fan club are keeping count of how many goals we have conceeded this year from his side of the pitch.

Mcdonald should realise MON knew what he was doing when our defence was up there with the best in the country last year and put Cuellar back in.

  9. The appointment is ok. Who cares whether he's here for some games ?

What puzzles me is why we areall accepting this season as one of transition. We were almost there last year, and have only lost 1 player. Add to that how crap some thought MON was presumably these people think we should get top 4 this year? So why the sudden outbreak of cries for patience ? And suddenly let the 5 year plan become an 8 year plan ?

We have to equal previous years as a minimum else we are going backwards, and at the wrong time. As it happens I see no reason why Houllier can't get us at least 6th, I'm sure MON would have progressed from last year.

  10. Voted Happy.

I'll never feel how I felt when MON joined us at the same time as Randy, but I think the Board have done all they can, and got a guy who, to be honest, it is hard to argue against, and from a limited field. (And they saw sense to not appoint Mcdonald).

    Good Luck Jezza.

I doubt he will ever arouse the passionate 'fors' and 'againsts' that Martin did, so it'll be fun to all be on the same side ! (For a bit...)

  11. steve **** staunton? this better be a joke

what an erath ha sthis guy done to warrant assitant amanger at vvilla? flopped at all palces he has managed

not impressed randy if its mac and staunton. recipe for disaster. just do houllier and mac as his assitant

Why not trust their judgement if they have done all the groundwork ? Sometimes certain partnerships work and others don't. No-one would have appointed Clough on the basis of Leeds had it been his first job would they ?

Maybe they've all hit it off in great chemistry with the Liverpool connection of all 3 and the old bootroom philosophty there. Maybe it would work ?

  12. I didn't want MON to go and I definitely didn't want Mcdonald on the basis of a couple of games.

But I think some of the reactions to what may happen are over the top.

Surely all we can ask for is that the Board do all they can to make a good chioice then we should all accept it ? Whether it's 3 man, Staunton and Mac, Curbishley, or whoever, we are all surely convinced now that a great effort has gone into trying to get it right ?

We haven't done a Newcastle and try for populism or messiahism, we haven't simply promoted from within, the Board have done it all properly.

Regardless of who it is, we should back them, and regardless of the seir sucess or failure we should accept it's been done the best way given the circumstances.

  13. Well at least their criteria appears to rule out Mac and see the need for a Top Class Manager.

    Thank God !

I for one will be happy with anybody (except Southgate for historical reasons associated with this Club) that they choose given those criteria, don't understand peoples not happy with Sven, or Curbishley, or Houllier, or anyone. They all have good points and bad points, and as long as the Board apply the criteria they've stated that's all we can ask for.

  14. You dont get to Randy lerner's position without having half a brain.

    And an extremely rich daddy.

Happy for him to buy the club and pump millions in, stop the millions coming in and....

I think there is a word for that.

You've lost me? Randys dad died in 2002 and he inherited a fortune.

Yup i'm aware of that, he should also keep putting all that inheritance into the club otherwise, well he is a bad man!

I have some agreement with you that we shouldn't turn on Randy, but most the money he has spent has either been in loans or in Capital spending upon which the returns will be greater if he sold. The General keeps saying they bleed Claret and Blue. I consider myself a fan, if I had £500 million I know I would happily spend (not loan) on the Club.

Mind you, I know Robert Plant wouldn't buy his own local to save it (as it would've made a loss)so these rich folk aren't like mere mortals!!

Thats probably why Randy is wealthy and I am filing for Bankruptcy !! :?

  15. If KM is appointed manager its because he wants it, Randy wont be forcing him; so all this talk now that it doesn't seem like he wants it is immaterial.

After the West Am game people were quite happy to have him as manager to give him a chance, with another person along side for transfers etc...

Now after one terrible performance, one that MON had as well he is suddenly not the right candidate.

well I wasn't happy after one game, am less so after two, and couldn't care if we win the next two 10 -0 he is not the right candidate, he should not even be a candidate.

Would anyone want him if he were the reserve Team Coach of any other Club ?

No. So he gets it because he knows the players ? Since when did that ever ever ever matter in football ? One example off the top of my head, how well did Hiddink know the Chelsea players ?

Whoever we get must, must, be a proper Manager.

I would rather have an unfancied person, anyone, than Mcdonald.

  16. It is wrong to say people don't respect Randy just because they are questioning where we are at as a Club at this moment.

Very few fans would question that we are lucky to have him as owner, based on where we were when he came. Same went for MON.

But now it is now, and people are simply voicing concerns based on what they see (or don't see) as lack forward movement as a Club, various issues.

Particularly in the light of his own (sparse) statements that appear to have changed what was the previous perceived spending policy.

To just say "blame MON and trust Randy" is too blinkered.

We are talking about the ownership and direction of the Club we all love at what many see as a critical point in our history(poised as we are on the verge of being in the top group rather than the middle group).
