  1. Did you know Jon Fear was BANNED from the press conference tonight?

    Why?

    One can only presume why.

I'm a big fan of JF, but he had no place at today's press conference and it was right that he was refused entry.

If JF was allowed in, I should be allowed in.

It won't be a popular view, but JF is more effective when he's not trying things like that.

  2. RL jet update.

it's been busy this week. Yesterday it flew Green Bay to Cleveland, and then when I switched off around midnight it was heading to RL's home. Given that it's Friday I didn't expect to see it move but it appears that Santa Claus is coming to town. It is currently en route to another airport in the UK than Birmingham that would put him in position to meet Rothschilds

Unless there is any major sporting event, movie premiere etc in London that takes the mans fancy, it looks like today could well be the day.

All I can say is this man appears to be working damned hard to fulfil our dreams.

Mr Trees, you are a gentleman and a scholar.

Is there a "wheels down" time? :)

  3. if there is a press conference today (and there is no guarantee there will be) then it seems highly unlikely that Doug will be anywhere near the place while it is going on.

They making him stay in the car again? :)

  4. I would imagine that, given the leaks this week re Martin O'Neill's appointment and MON's subsequent discomfort, Rothchild's initiated a meeting with MON to try to assuay any fears he may have over the takeover process.

    Possible?

  5. Does an official bid have to come in? Could the club have agreed with the interested parties that they would choose one from the informal offers on the table to save time? Then the chosen consortium go on to make a formal offer? I really haven't a clue how these things work.

    Thats about right..

The indicative offers that are currently with Rothchild's are probably being examined to see if they meet with the criteria set out at the start, and to see if the finance is in place.

One of those indicative offers will be chosen as the best deal, and it will be converted from indicative to official (probably just a small change of wording) and hey presto, offer is accepted.

  6. VT the site itself has not had a problem, there was a problem with the internet feed provided by a third party.

When the site went down the first time this morning, I realised just how much I rely on it to keep me informed. It was maybe 10 minutes of silence, but it was excruciating.

I'm sure I wasn't the only one to feel so cut off.

So, having realised how important VillaTalk is to me, especially during these exciting times, I have made a contribution of £5 via the paypal link on the left side menu bar. It's not a lot of money, but after a wedding and honeymoon in the last 3 weeks, its all I can afford right now.

Hopefully it can go towards keeping VillaTalk alive and reliable. I'm sure that this site hasn't seen a busier time than the last 3 weeks and there has been a huge strain put on Limpid's resources.

If you can, I urge you all to make a contribution to the upkeep of this excellent website.

  7. I dont know if Ellis can sign someone up in this situation where the company is on its way to change owner...or not.

    Of course he can.

The position of team manager is a vital one, and it is currently vacant.

No official offers have been received by the club; Rothchild's are currently assessing some potential offers but thats all.

Business as usual for the football club must continue to a certain extent.

  8. Gazton Predicts:

Lerner will agree to buy Ellis' and Petchey's shares at a price of £5.63 per share. AV plc board will recommend that shareholders accept this offer for the remaining shares.

Takeover will be valued at £64.75 million.

Martin O'Neill will be appointed by the CURRENT Aston Villa board, with the blessing of Randy Lerner. Ellis will be present at the unveiling of MON as manager, will say it that bringing MON to Villa is one of his greatest achievements during his 30+ years at the club and is glad that someone of Mr. Lerner's stature will be investing in the club.

Expect a typical Ellisian condescending remark regarding Randy being a "typical American businessman".

**THIS IS JUST A FUN PREDICTION, IT IS NOT A STATEMENT OF FACT**

  9. Following the statement this morning, should we expect another statement from the club later on saying that member of the board have been contacted and deny all knowledge of this purported "statement"? :)

  10. I think this is as close to the apology that Lerner was reputed to be seeking from Ellis.

I think it is a signal to Lerner that Rothchild's are now in the driving seat, and that he should feel comfortable dealing with them if he wishes.
