  1. Well still no statement from the club. Clearly the appointment is not as nailed on as Sky are making out. Nice also to see Sky are spending Macleish's money on blues players already.

Look how long before everyone realises at the moment this is all nothing but press specualtion and downright lies. He's obviously spoken to Villa but aside from that nobody outside the select few at Villa knows anything let alone what he'll spend if he comes.

    Clutching at straws!!

  2. I mean't in terms of football, Delph will not be able to influence games if the ball bypasses him will it, at the end of the day I'll get behind him, but if we keep Heskey or sign a target man, it will signal what kind of football we are expecting.

  3. Maradonna, its just my opinion is all, maybe my choice of words werent the best, i didnt mean to come across as saying 'all fans at the protest were there because he is a blues man', but i think a large majority were, hence the chants we heard on live television. I think alot of (not all) fans at the protest yesterday were hiding behind the 'ability' reason when inside they dont want him because he managed the blues.

Im not saying people didnt want Martinez or Mclaren, the results from the poll are clear, but when the question of ability comes into it, why would they be any better than McLeish,? i understand they havent relegated anyone but what have they done recently to say they would have been any better than mcleish will?

Because those two would have been eventually backed by the fans. McLeish whether you like it or not will never have support come August no matter who we sign or whatever he says or does? I mentioned this before but last year we had players who underperformed for the manager as they knew the fans would turn on him, the players know this is even worse on McLeish. I just can't see him being a success, obviously i do want him to do as Villa comes first but he has far too much baggage for Villa to see past. Its destined to fail hence why McClaren and Martinez would have been given time to settle in, the first long ball we play he's going to get slated for it, unless we win convincingly on the first game of the season with a Barcelona style, he is going to get slated as someone mentioned he will be praying he gets an easy start.

  4. Welcome McLeish but hope your tenure is not long.

Ergo you hope he isnt succesful, **** awesome attitude and **** brilliant thinking. I dont really want him I dont really like him but I hope he sees out his contract and gets an extesion because ultimately that means he will have been a succes.

The odds of that happening are remote in my opinion. It's all about opinions.

  5. I really am trying to find positives with this but it's really hard, and I consider myself somewhat of an optimist by the way! This appointment just makes no sense. This isn't like last time where the season had just begun and the previous manager had walked out suddenly.

The only hope we have is if he actually learned anything from GH.

  6. Ingram85, read the majority of views before you making blanket statements, yes the Blues connection is an issue for many fans but for most including myself i cannot see for the life of me how he will improve our football, how we will be better as a team. He will stifle our youth development, whats the point of having players like Delph, Albrighton if most of the time the ball will bypass them. People will say well he never had the constraints to change at Blues, yes he did, his board bought in footballers such as Hleb and Bentley but the man didn't have a clue what to do with them.

  7. I don't think there will be a PC for McLeish, I think they'll let the news die down, he'll obviously give his quotes on AVTV, but i think when the board realise we need to publicise the kits, he may have one then.

I would be surprised if there wasn't a press conference. Appointiing a new Villa manager is a massive deal. If Randy doesn't hold a PC it's tantamount to an admission that he's done something horrendously wrong!

Will be very surprised if their is one.

  8. Mantis it will just be a statement followed by videos on AVTV, with Jack Woodward. They will want this to boil over and just let time do the healing and let him rebuild the squad. I will be very interested in his back room staff. Faulkner is getting married this weekend so no way will their be a conference with them parading McLeish.

  9. I'm not talking about me, but some fans struggle to buy ST's, they should be allowed to cheer, boo or whatever in my opinion

    My word.

Can you not see its these 'fans' who boo the team that destroyed our season last year?? Now theyre probably the same fans who want Houllier back!! Unbelievable!

Add to that the fans kicking and screaming over Martinez and McClaren being appointed, its no wonder Randy is saying '**** it' im gonna get WHO I THINK IS THE BEST MAN FOR THE JOB. Im surprised weve even managed to attract aq manager AT ALL with how the fans are behaving. Embarassing.

Whether you agree or not (personally, i dont, but hey thats life) at the end of the day this is Villa and we shouldnt be booing them.

What players will sign for us if there booing at the ground every other week? NONE. THATS RIGHT! Nobody will want to play for us, and its **** all to do with McLeish...its the fans

Lets the blame the fans lark is coming in now hey, do me a favour! So its all our fault of this current mess hey, Randy Lerner could have stopped this and he must be clever enough to realise what reaction this is going to cause, you now can't say lets employ McLeish who by the way is a SHIT Manager, relegated twice in three premier league seasons. If Randy wants out, he can go as far as i'm concerned.

Nobody will want to play for Alex McLeish unless his name is Barry Ferguson or Kenny Miller.
