Darkys ROM is gorgeous, man and it is unreal fast. I mean it's phenominal. I threw hardcores kernal back on.

It's so easy to flash roms and kernals. Simple beyond belief.

I have to say the Press Read Samsung app on the SGS is fantastic. You can get newspapers from all over the world to view on your device. It's great to read the papers in the morning without even getting out of bed.

Have updated NO LED and WhatsApp recently but now I'm not getting an LED notification for WhatsApp messages. Any ideas?

Don't use swype anymore. The Samsung keyboard is awful, so I've installed the default Froyo keyboard (and now the Gingerbread version) which are delightful to use.

It's out for some people, not for others (including myself). All you can do is just check on Kies to see if they offer an upgrade for you.

Sorry I just read you're unlocked. Just plug it into Kies and it should update to Froyo.

You can just load a non branded firmware on a locked sgs. Check the xda dev forums.

Yeh that all seems fairly complex to me and given that the official version was supposed to be released anytime now, I thought it would be more convenient to wait.

I think the UK rollout has actually started but I guess I should give it to the end of the month as that was the timeframe that Samsung have given.

Actually if you get a silicone casing for the back, it feels a lot better and is much easier to grip onto. Plus it gives it a touch more weight if that whats you're after.

P.S I resorted to buying one of these after dropping my Galaxy S on concrete floor, what a bad feeling that was!

But for CVB and dirk, I would have been buying a Desire and regretted the choice given the new Desire HD is now out (or coming out soon) plus the fact that the Galaxy S is a fantastic phone.

Although I'm annoyed about the delay of Froyo. I understand that there are ways of getting 2.2 up and running but the firmware discussions on the XDA site go over my head quite frankly.

Is there an official date for Froyo? All I keep reading is the end of September.

The reason I asked is that there's serious lag issues at times with my SGS and reading around there's a lag fix that requires rooting first.
