  1. Current betting situation:

Lost money on Villa to win both halves.

And look like losing money on Villa to score 3 or more goals.

What was that golden rule again? Never bet on your team! I'll never learn...lol

  2. As a big India fan I must say this series has been an embarrassment, the team has been battered and looks like they want to catch the next plane home.

As for England, at present they look a mighty fine side and seem to have all boxes ticked but I'll wait to see how they go in the subcontinent before declaring them as the best team in world cricket.

  3. maybe it is but i never watched Tendulkar and felt like i was watching greatness like i would when Warne was playing or watching Messi play

Late 90s when he was taking apart Warne and the Aussies on a number of occasions were where he was at the peak of his powers. It can also be easy to forget that he was averaging high 50s in an era where some of the best bowlers (McGrath, Akram, Waqar, Ambrose, Walsh) were bowling.

  4. Tendulkar is not overrated. To say so is an insult to him and his vast amount of runs

maybe its just me but i think Dravid has been a better player for India and if he was an earlier bloomer would have more runs than him

This series is probably clouding your judgement I feel.

If your lifes on the line and you want a batsmen to go out there then you'd probably opt for Dravid but for a mixture of flair, technique, consistency and raw talent Tendulkar is a notch ahead.

  5. It is fair to say the board have now identified AM as their man and are now in a lose-lose situation.

If they appoint him, the fans have already decided his fate.

If they don't appoint him and choose another candidate e.g. Grayson or someone, the media will continue to have a field day about the ineptitude of the board.

Bad situation they have got themselves into.

  6. I think that clearly is the General's comment, but I think his response is as a result of anger and disappointment with our fans.

McLaren's name got put around and received huge uproar from forum posters.

A young, promising manager like Martinez was revealed to be a candidate. Yet the reaction was of 'we are the mighty Aston Villa, how dare you even consider appointing a manager who just managed to save his team from relegation.'

    Now more uproar with McLeish.

Unfortunately the rise of the internet and social network sites means that keyboard warriors now believe they can actually influence matters in a football club.

  7. Dress it up how like - this appointment is a disaster for Aston Villa.

Yes he will have access to better quality players - but the flipside is that these better players are more difficult to manage. I think a bloke with only 4 years management experience will quickly crumble under the pressure.

Like he crumbled in arguably the ultimate pressure cooker situation, relegation?

And our team is hardly filled with egoistical players like Ronaldo or Tevez that he would face such difficulties managing them...

  8. Not at all. Di Matteo is another young manager who plays nice football.

I don't think you understand the point that some people are making. You say that Hodgson did a better job at West Brom? How did Hodgson do at Liverpool again?

There are two sides of this:

    1) Get an average/good manager who will establish us in the top half by playing kick-n-run football. Yay. We'll all be loving it. Until we realise that we can't get higher than 7th by playing that style of football.

    2) Get a manager who plays with a footballing philosophy, give him time to build a team and instill this philosophy with all HIS players. Then this team will be able to push for greater honours - even if it takes time to build that team.

Unfortunately football fans, especially at our club don't have the patience for that and it worries me. We could be 10th 10 games into the season and the fans would already be on his back.

10 games? You're far too generous. 3 games, 3 points would see a vocal minority begin their campaign to oust him from the job.

Re: Who Should be Aston Villa Manager ?

Just had a text that says confirmed interviews are Curbishley, Hughes and McClaren, Ancelotti isn't interested as reported, Benitez has been told a polite "no thank you"

Only joking, get a life saddoes!

    Don't do that!

Just got in and this is the first post I've read. Please someone tell me MM hasn't said that?

  10. Software update for Galaxy S II, connect to kies to get it.

Also this tasker profile is amazing. When it's on it gives unbelievable battery life. I mean we're talking 3/4 times here. I'm testing it out at the moment but started it this morning and it's still going with near full battery.

Trying it out and it's a huge improvement on what I'm used to. Been unplugged for an hour and a half and I'm normally down to about 60%, with this profile I'm on 90%. However I'm assuming it works by switching off 3G while the phone is on standby. If so, will I still get whatsapp messages for example immediately?

  11. The pitch side presenter (female one obviously) for the IPL is stunning.

    Can you remember her name?

    There are two;

    Archana Vijaya and Shibani Dandekar.
