  1. I can understand why they have gone with this badge re. cost of re-branding, etc.

I would also admit that I think the yellow on blue, which I hated at the time, I find is quite easy to pick out.

My main gripe, which was AVFC, has, thank god, disappeared, although I agree with others that it would have been better at the top.

If we can get top 4 or better on a regular basis I can live with it.

I’m warming to it tbh. It feels more us than that round one did. And I’m happy for them to sack off fan consultation tbh because I’m just tired of it all and the fans will never agree and everything the fans have been consulted about in the past has not ended with positive results.

The uncaged lion looks good and will remain consistent with our existing brand, the drop shadow has everyone shitting themselves but I can see how it makes the lion stand out a bit from the blue (and it is a solution to a difficult problem because tbh the claret in the crest on a claret kit doesn’t look good), round badges are boring and all the same, like it or not the round one does just look like Chelsea, this is a bit more unique and identifiable, I personally don’t care about the alignment I think it looks fine.

If they’d have just put Aston Villa at the top I wouldn’t really have any complaints but I’m happy to just rally around this badge now and never, ever talk about it again.

    This would have been better.

Spare a thought for Stevie “Chelsea should be wiping the floor with Villa” Gerrard, gents. Makes the day just a bit sunnier, doesn’t it?

The pundits have had to accept that he is a shit manager, and I like that.

I wonder if 10 years from now we will look back at this season as a breakthrough in an era that has become to be known as the "Big Top 8" (hard not to see Newcastle in there with their state backed resources) or was it just a successful blip for us. Hoping for the former 🙂

That looks like the future right there.

In finance we'd call what we did a contingent repo.

We needed cash to satisfy FFP, Sheffield needed a striker but knew they couldn't afford the bill if they dropped.

So we sold with an obligation to buy back at a fixed price if they dropped.

And so we monitized 16 million for him, then buy back at slightly less which we now amortize over however many years he signs for. Cant remember what the exact $ buyback number is, say 13:

23/24: we recognize 16 million pure profit on FFP

24/25 (and 3 more seasons): say 3.25 million a year for 4 years of FFP cost

Its all financial engineering, but isn't the whole world these days...

Thanks for that, CV,  sounds like a clever piece of work.

We are obligated to buy him back as part of the agreement when we sold him to Sheffield United in the summer. So he will most likely rejoin us on July 1st when the new Premier League registration year opens. Whether or not he stays with us during next season or not is up for debate, but I imagine he will have suitors in the Championship.

What the obligation buyback fee is, it's not been made public.

Surely he was sold to Sheffield with an option to buy. That's not a loan. Nor an obligation.

  7. The plethora of young players we have, but not one we can call upon with confidence to come into our midfield, or indeed in goals.

We will need to buy for those positions, and indeed in other positions, for instance up front.

So what is our youth system - an expensive hobby? - a sop to FFT?

A solid enough display from pretty much every player. Odd sky repeatedly blamed the only wolves shot as a miss and not a save.

Bizarre in fact, not at any stage in the entire game was it called a save, only a miss.

Watkins off is hopefully precaution or protection rather than an injury.

Duran looked decent and caused them some issues but some poor decision making or execution, zaniolo was good when he came on and could have grabbed a couple goals but for their keeper, was disciplined in attack and defence.

Digne brought some stability to the left side and played well.

Great goal by diaby and a fluke by konsa but from a good passage of play from winning the ball back the drive forwards the pass to diaby and then onto konsa.

Very happy with the win , we just need to keep picking up the points.

Yes. Apparently it was because of that `miss' that they lost the game, totally ignoring the number of `misses' that we had. What is wrong with these people?
