You realise everyone comes from different backgrounds, circumstances, environments etc right?

And very often, those from the so called better backgrounds are far more corrupt and evil that the Ravel Morrisons of this world.

  2. Morrison is a lot older now.  He has been away from that environment for a long time.  It is possible, in fact likely that he can see which side his bread is buttered.

If we can tolerate players and their reprehensible behaviour on remembrance Sunday, like that thing at Albion, surely we can tolerate someone who has been punished in the courts and paid his price for his wrongdoings?

Not having a go at you BF but I don't get why a number of people on here keep going on about not having attacking right backs and the lack of wingers.  Through pre-season RDM has played a 4-2-3-1 which uses inside forwards, in the three, cutting in on their stronger foot with overlapping wing backs providing the width.

Why buy wingers or "defensive" full backs if your preferred formation doesn't warrant them?

I haven't suggested that we buy either wingers or defensive full backs.

I suggest we buy a replacement for Gana and a third part of the offensive tio (ideally for me would be Morrison)

The formation is not my favourite, especially in this league.  We are not going to see wingers signed (and there aren't many out there these days anyway).

In this formation though, I think the full backs have a role t play going forward and indeed we've seen evidence of this in the friendlies.  I think if RDM did buy a full back, he would be looking at someone who can play in he opponents half as well.

I want a right back that can defend primarily. Yes we need another central midfielder, preferably one that doesn't have to protect the defence as much because we have a better right back.

Unless we change the formation that has been used in pre-season, we are going to go with 2 holding midfielders.  Gana was obviously pencilled in to one of those two.

I think we all want a right back who can defend primarily.  The point is that it is not a priority over the two midfield berths.

It will be nigh on impossible to find a right back who performs adequately at both ends of the field, especially as a championship club.  There are suggestions of another 4 coming in on permanents and even a couple of loans.  There is a good chance that a right back will be amongst that little lot.  For me though, the team tomorrow is desperate for an offensive and a defensive midfielder. Hopefully by next Saturday, one if not both of those positions are sorted and we can then turn our sights towards a right back.

  5. Put the money towards one of the 3 bids we currently have in and it's a real bonus.

I've no real animosity towards Sinclair, as I have to others from last season.  I just think the time is right to draw a line with him.  It didn't work out for him here.  Ironic but this time last season, I was all for giving him a run up top.  That worked out well I must say.  He had his chance at the start of last season and failed to produce.

Hutton and Bacuna are awful - we could do much better.  We don't need another Amavi, we need a rightback who can defend and offer something going forward e.g. ocassionally get to the byline and cross a ball.

I'm not sure that finding a right back who does that effectively is as easy as you think.

Replacing Gana protects the defence and adding someone creative, for example Morrison will give the forwards far more ammunition than an attacking right back will.

one of those examples where it would definitely be worth subsidising his exit.

We can't even give him away.

    I've long suspected that he's a nose

I agree that it would pay to subsidise his wage for the year-If he stays, we are just going to be shelling out more and not getting anything in return as he won't be involved.

As N'Zogbia showed, these people aren't bothered if they play or not, the only concern they have is how much they earn.

it would be my priority to be honest. success in a football game is all about the quality of the weakest link in the 11 and I think in our squad now that's at right back.

Hutton or even Bacuna is not the end of the world as a temporary measure.  We are two places light in midfield that is our weakest link.  We need to replace Gana and we need creativity.

Visions of another Amavi on the right are sadly just going to lead to disappointment.

Its greedy I know but I really want a good right back, it such a long time since we've had a good one.

There's nothing greedy about wanting player of a calibre that fits AVFC.

The simple fact is that we need a right back.  I think the general feeling is that other areas are priority (namely midfield).  However, a RB is definitely needed.

My concern s that several PL teams have weak full backs-Finding one that is an improvement an also prepared to sign for a championship club may not be as easy as it sounds.

  10. Gayle played.  Richie looked the danger man to me not only will he chip in with goals, he will create for the likes of Gayle.

I don't get all the laughing at Newcastle now.  They are not our rivals unless we consider them to be rivals for promotion.  I only want them to lose in the same way that I want any other top 8 team to lose.  I'd like to think we will be top 8 which obviously gives us a shout of promotion.

  11. I hope he gets a good run at some point, in order to make a real decision on him.

Having missed pre-season, he has a lot of catching up to do. He'll definitely have to start where he left off, ie cameo roles for 20 mins.

A lot of the stadiums are surely better than Bournemouth, Watford, Burnley, Palace etc?

And its that sort of attitude that can lead to a very lengthy stay. Believe me I know.

Your players need to go to Burton, Rotherham, Barnsley and Brentford. In small stadiums, on rubbish pitches, in changing rooms no better than your local school and they can't moan - they need to roll their sleeves up and fight.

All this whilst the opposition fans chant "Your not famous anymore " at you. All their players will give an extra 5% because like Leeds, Wednesday and Forest before you they want your PL scalps.

Then when you've got through that battle you need to do it again on Tuesday, then again in Saturday then again on Tuesday.

its tough, really really tough. And any thoughts that this league is below you will bite you in the arse every single time.

In fairness, not many on here have a pompus attitude towards the division.  Indeed, only 3 or 4 months ago, many were worried that we'd drop down again next season.

We are expecting teams to raise their game against us, park the bus at Villa Park etc, etc.

I don't think anyone is thinking this league is below us, especially when we're fielding players like Alan Hutton.

    I'd quite like

    Defender - Mcnair maybe

    Midhfielder - Jedinak

    Advanced Midfielder - Morrison

    Forward - Hernandez

     Which should enable

    -----------------Gollini

    Hutton-----Elphick-----Mcnair-------Amavi

    -------Tshibola--------------Jedinak

    Hernandez--------Morrsion--------Ayew

    -----------------Mccormack

I quite like the look at that Richard.  Whats happened? Have you had a bump on the head or have you taken some happy pills?  This time last week you were almost suicidal with the thought of a Villa line up.

A weeks a long time in football isn't it?

  14. What were we paying him a week? It won't be much of a profit If it was £60K.

Profit doesn't really enter the equation anyway, given we've just been taken over. The way I see it, its another £4milion towards the rebuild.

We're currently getting rid of the sellable assets. £16 million for Clark Gana,  and Sinclair is OK . We've also got N'Zogbia & Guzan off the books. The 4 that have come in look good.

Another 4  this window would be good.. 2 of Lescott Richards and Gabby gone would be great.

Wouldn't be that bothered . . . Ayew is probably a better footballer, but if Bamford or Kodjia got more goals and more assists I doubt I'd care. We haven't found a system that actually suits Ayew yet IMO.

    100% bang on the money.

I would be, I think ayew is better than bamford and kodja

I have to be honest and admit that I know very little about Bamford & Kodja.  It would be impossible to compare either with Awye.

What I do know is that I don't want any players here who are not committed and are not happy. Little indications are filtering out that Aywe is not happy and if there was any truth in the WHU rumour, he would tear up trees to make it happen.

With the possible exception of Amavi and Adama (who I still think can come good) I am not upset at any player leaving. In fact I want most players to leave. We really do need to draw a line under the last 4 years and Saturday against Middlesborough showed far too many signs of those bad old days.

If pushed, I would like to keep Aywe. If he goes and is replaced by either Bamford or Kodja who we know can score goals in this league, I won't lose any sleep whatsoever.

  17. How disappointed would people be if we sold Aywe and used the money to bring in either Bamford or the Bristol City striker?

How much difference would that make in the grand scheme of things?

Judging on how we're lining up, it's going to be a lone striker and then a number 10. I don't know much about the other players but I personally wouldn't be over upset to replace Awye like for like with either of the other 2.

I find it difficult to believe that any club, even ours, would leave it until the player was having a medical with another club before making their move.

So if we actually did have an interest, you would have to think it was before he went to NUFC for his medical, and therefor that he preferred them, for whatever reason.

I agree with this. Just because the press only just got wind of it, doesn't mean that is when the interest was instigated.

    No

Try working on your adding up then.

    Bacuna + Hutton = 2 RB's, not 1.

Grealish, Bacuna, Adama, Tishbola, and 2 incoming = 6 midfielders, not 3

Better still, try posting your own opinions instead of hovering around discecting other peoples in a childish, pedantic attempt to make yourself look oh so clever.

So you'd be happy with us having 2 centre backs, 1 left back, 1 right back and 3 midfielders in the squad or am I reading that wrong? ...

    Yeah-Only 1 goalie as well. It's good isn't it?

I'll leave you to work out whether you've read it wrong or whether you're just being rather silly.
