  1. Also contender for soundtrack of the year for me. Music this aggressive isn't usually my thing but its exquisitely produced. Pitch-perfect in complimenting the onscreen action and getting the adrenaline pumping.

It's basically Doom 1 just a lot faster more akin to the Brutal Doom mod and has no story just like Doom 1. The game does just enough exposition to make you understand why you are there, but that is where it ends. Very good game.

Most of the time, that exposition is cut short by Doom Guy himself. id Software put across his "no time for shit" attitude with an abundance of self-awareness; they know that no one is playing this game for story beats.

Its the biggest surprise of the year for me so far and fully deserving of the praise its getting.

  3. Its been a few months since I've finished something but I finally got around to it this past weekend. Its more pretend film score but this time, the theme is space. The story I had in my head when I composed it...

"Adrift and alone for weeks, the remaining survivor of a disaster on board a deep space research vessel awakens to the sight of the approaching rescue ship"

Got max level on all classes but I think Witch Doctor and Crusader are the most fun.

I'm playing with Nayson (guest appearance in his video) but my Crusader feels really weak at level 40. Any tips on what I should be doing?

Also, come play D3 on PS4 with us sometime.

I have no idea about the game, but the music's really really good. Excellent.

I teamed up with a singer on Youtube and turned that instrumental into a vocal cover. Here's the finished result which I upload a couple of days ago. It got the thumbs up from the lady who voiced the iDroid in MGSV (and sang Sins of the Father - Donna Burke) which I was very happy to hear.

  6. As someone who really didn't get on with Fallout 3, I'm glad to find Fallout 4 immensely enjoyable. I absolutely love that I can play this game as a fully fledged FPS and not rely on VATS. So after a couple of tweaks to fix the weird default mouselook sensitivity, the game for me has took on the feel of something akin to STALKER with more involved RPG elements.

Also, its nice to see some colour in the world. Fallout 3's brown, brown and more brown visuals and shite shooting mechanics killed that game off for me after about 15 hours. Fallout 4 is a game I can see myself spending 100+ hours in.

  7. Finally got the story finished last night and overall, I enjoyed it. Not really much more to say that hasn't already been said about the games story issues (yes, the second half of the game is a bit of a mess) but the gameplay never got boring.

I suspected the final reveal for a while because of the numerous hints the game kept dropping. The part I really found interesting though was....

(Seriously, if you've not got the true ending yet, do not open this spoiler)

Huey. In typical video game fashion, he's the good guy scapegoated by a salty Miller for everything that's going wrong, suspected of being a spy, tortured and treated like shit and all the while vehemently protesting his innocence. Expecting a Kojima twist, I felt inclined to believe the guy. I found it such a wonderful moment when realising that Miller was in fact right all along and Huey really was a monstrous immoral piece of shit, a compulsive liar and responsible for bringing down MSF in cahoots with Cipher for his own personal gain. Killing his own wife, experimenting with his son, mutating the parasites to kill Diamond Dogs, aiding Eli. He did it all just so he could continue his projects and experiments and never owned up to it.

Characters "persecuted" the way he was usually turn out to be the tragic hero of the piece in video games. But Huey being the snake he was painted as? Loved it - it's just not something that happens much in video games I feel.

  8. Truth be told im about 300 quid up from gambling over the last 7-10 days, I can afford to lose a tenner between buying the game and trading it in a few weeks down the line.

I get the impression all the really low reviews are because of the glitches and unfinished nature of the game, personally that doesn't bother me too much and will probably add to the comedy value of the game. Im sure in the next week or two there will be a few more patches to sort some of the worst issues out.

Read those reviews. It's not getting low scores just because its unfinished. It's getting them because its a badly designed, low quality product and nothing more than Activision meeting a contractual obligation, hoofing a bag of shit out the door just so they can say to Tony Hawk "There's your game we said we'd make, happy? Now **** off." Jeff Gerstmann's review is particularly scathing.

  9. Oh you Mr Guest!

Any Metal Gear Solid fans in off topic? Spent some time yesterday and some time today producing a cover of Quiet's Theme. Here are the results. (sorry for shitting up the thread with huge youtube players, I'll stop it now)

    A Hideo Kojima Game!

  10. If there's anyone here who likes film score and cinematic stuff, here's something I just finished today.

Very impressed.  I work in the audio-visual field and was wondering what equipment you use.  If you wouldn't mind?

I don't mind. I'm all software based. I sequence using Cubase (have done for years). A Past Forgotten was made using ProjectSAM stuff. I usually make dance music but I've been exploring other genres lately to keep things interesting, as well as remaking the original PSOne score from the original Tomb Raider (they're on my Youtube channel.)

Glad to hear you guys enjoyed my music.

Edit: Main theme from Tomb Raider I made below. Linked as I can't figure out how to embed a Youtube video with this new forum software. And it weirdly just worked. How odd.
