And Huntelaar is nowhere near as proven as you appear to be making out.
As we've said, he's no less nor more proven than Van Nistlerooy was when Man Utd paid £18 million for him.
-
- I don't think Huntelaar holds anything near the value of £18-20million. OK perhaps £7-8 million is a little optimistic but he I doubt he'd cost more than £12million.
Ajax will see him as PSV saw Van Nistelrooy. And rightly so.
-
But we don't need another centre half Rich and it would be (IMO) detremental to Cahill's progress.
I'm going to suggest some realistic signings because it's fun.
LB - Bridge (£5-6million) or Chiellini (£4-5million) or Baines (£5-6million)
RB - Young (£5-6million) or Volz (£4-5million)
LM - Richardson (£4-5million) or Boa Morte (£5-6million)
RM - Milner (£4-5million) or SWP (£8-10million)
ST - Huntelaar (£7-8million) or Ashton (£10-12million)
Where does Barry fit into this if you want a new LB and LM?
And Huntelaar is more £18-£20 million than £7-£8 million.

I definitely think that Bent is gettable and a marked improvement on what we currently have.
-
Appiah would be very gettable, apparently he's desperate for a move to Portsmouth.
And we're definitely a step-up from them.
-
It would take the best part of £40 million to assemble Maz's lineup.
-
I wish we'd got Bresciano before he went to Palermo
-
Same as the above two IMO.
We're fine for goalkeeper and defence, I expect Milner and a powerful striker. Possibly a defensive midfielder as cover for McCann.
-
If O'Neil is going for a big striker in the transfer window i'd like to see us go for Rasiak from Southampton. Didn't really get a chance at Spurs but i think he'd have something to offer in the Prem and shouldn't cost more than £3 million.
Jesus god know, he has tired and failed in the prem, he was so bad for spurs it was almost Titus Shambles like!
Or worse. Rasiak is barely a footballer.
I'd say he was a decent enough lower-level striker. Certainly not a Premiership striker though.
-
I'd expect him to be capped by England by the end of the season, and almost certainly the person to take Neville place off him for the future.
-
Richards will not go for less than £7 million.
And it would be £7 million very well spend in my opinion if we were to be interested.
-
I'd be happier with him at right back than either Delaney or Hughes.
We'd need to keep Hughes on the bench ready for when he gets sent off though.
-
I cant wait till the January window, were going to be linked to a host of players!
We're always linked to a host of players.
I'd like to actually sign some.
-
have we ever had a proper out and out winger at VP?
I'm a big fan of wing play - teams who play that system score lots of goals
Morley? Daley?
-
"I've always had to work hard to establish myself and be successful. I don't think that would be any different at a top club such as Real Madrid or Barcelona," he added.
No matter how good we are getting, I'm not sure that we're quite on his radar at the moment.
-
i heard that bloke on SSN mention Lucarelli from Livorno, does anbody know who this is???
He is absolutely superb.
Fairly old (early 30s), but one of the best strikers in Italy. I'd happily have him for 2 or 3 years.
-
this is a transfer rumour thread, not about the legend mcgrath!! open another thread to talk about legend.
lets talk about sutton getting linked!! or anyone others players
Alrighty.
We've got a maximum of 17 games (league and cup) between now and January 1st (if my maths is correct).
If Sutton starts half of them and scores 3 or 4 goals, then he'll have been a success. Then he can move on in January.
I'd say that O'Neill has pretty earned our trust of his judgement.
-
McGrath is known as one hell uf a player amongst Villa-fans, especially on here.
Other than that, I don't think many people in general would even pick McGrath for the top-30 list the last 20 years in the top flight.
Sorry to say it, but winning the Coke-cup twice isn't high regarded.
Yeah, they should pick someone who has won lots of proper trophies like Phil Neville or Pascal Cygan.
It's hardly our fault that thick people don't know about football.
-
I reckon he'd take a pay cut given the fact he's one of the richest sportsmen in the world
Well he's demanded a pay increase at Real Madrid. And refused to sign a new contract without it.
-
it would'nt suprise me if MON gets players who we don't expect and who we won't be thrilled about but will want to play for the team
That would thrill me far more than signing a player for £10 million who won't fit into our system or our style of play. An Ian Taylor over a Bosko Balaban if you will.

Playing a completely different position on the other side of the field? Why not just suggest he takes Ridgewell's place or Sorensen's?
He can play left or central. Davis is central.
How many Man Utd reserve games have you watched? I'll assume it has to be a hell of a lot, as Phil Bardsley has started 12 games in his career thus far. Half of them for Burnley.
Which of his three performances for either Man Utd or Rangers has convinced you that he will walk into our team?
Ferguson says he's going to be great. This comes from the person who has a little know-how when it comes to youth-players.
Let's not make a big deal out of this please.
I suppose it was a fairly silly thing to say.
"He’s quick, aggressive and a good passer of the ball, and is the kind of athletic footballer we are looking for. In the last few months he has shown his development playing in a very good Cameroon team, and he looks like a Manchester United player in every sense.“I'll let you guess who that was about. He's hardly infallible.
-
No no, Bardsley would never take Mellberg's place. He'd EASILY go before Hughes and Delaney though.
Do you really think Mellberg is going to play right back for the rest of the season? Think again, he hates it.

Richardson has been pretty poor this season, and Barry has been pretty good. Richardson would in my opinion walk intoour team taking Davis' place. Davis has been poor concidering my expectations before this season.

Are you rocafella in disguise?
Picking Average Man Utd players
The funny thing is they would both EASILY get into our team.
Now I know that you've said some silly things in your time, but come on....
Bardsley at right-back over Mellberg in the new formation?
Richardson over Barry?
I'd hardly call that EASILY getting into our team.....

shame we didn't get robinson - prone to the odd gaff but solid overall
The problem is that you've just described Sorensen.

I've heard it from a semi-reliable source as well.
