  1. Judging by this poll so far, it will be very interesting if Lerner doesnt win!

I am not a betting man, but.............

    :D:D:D:D

do you think he will win Mike, and if you do when will it be :winkold:

Fran, I am not at all certain. I am in Italy at the moment so have been out of the loop a bit, but I do not think its as clear cut as everyone thinks.

    What I cannot understand is:

If Mr Lerner is so massively wealthy, why is there no bid on the table and why is it all taking so long? What is the hold up?

His bid was supposed to be the one that would "blow all others out of the water"...............

maybe its something got to do with Ellis wanting some kind of position at the club,it is very odd that there has been know bid all the same :( .

  2. He has to be reminded as fervently as possible, as often as possible that his time is up. He can go anytime he chooses, he could resign the chair tomorrow and let stride handle the sale.

I believe that he knows that his time is up - that's why the club is up for sale. Now, he may want a role as Bates did after the Abramovich takeover - its the beginning of the end for him.

What do we need to remind him of? Whether you like it or not, Villa is a part of his life. As long as he has no actual power, I don't give a **** what they do with him as long as the brand new dawn carries on regardless.

Agree Lee_Av i dont give to fecks if he's still here once he has know power, and another thing that im not to worried about at the mo is the naming of the witton stand it can wait i think.

  3. Pete - if one of his conditions is to stay on - which I would assume is a pre-requiste, and that has been met then I'm not sure that any takeover will have a proper effect.

I think that this depends heavily on the extent to which "he stays on". If for example he is left with, say, a 3% shareholding and some non-executive role like president then this is pretty harmless as long as the new owners control more than 50% of the total and are free to do whatever they like. he can sit in the directors box all he likes for all I care, what matters is who holds the power.

Now if there was a situation where, for example, someone just buys 29.9% of the club, leaving petchey's 21-22% intact and Doug and family with 9%, this is rather a different scenario and represents nothing much changing, as ellis and petchey could join forces to over-ride the new owners.

Perhaps it is too much to believe Doug is on his way out - and perhaps I have huge doubts about any consortium that meets each and every one of his demands, I think this is where my scepticism is coming from?

I dont think his demands are anything like you fear.

can he buy most of ellis's shares and say buy out all the fans then,i know feck all about this so im sorry if i come across thick :?

  4. My source (usually reliable etc.) tells me that there is a Swedish consortium interested and that they would appoint shagger Sven if a takeover was successful.

    Dont shoot the messenger.

god i hope the clearing in the woods dosent get the job we would be better with dol than him.
