  1. I've said Lambert from start of last season however he won't leave Norwich now in my opinion.
I also wanted him here last summer, its a massive pity that Randy decided to go down the road he did, Its up to him to now to put things right, if GH isn't coming back i'd like us to go after Lambert, like yourself though i can't see him jumping ship.
  2. I think if we got Moyes he'd make us a top 6 or 7 team but I don't think he'd get us into the top 4, being honest we are miles off the top 4 now.

Out of morbid curiosity. What would you be happy with ?

    6th/7th ?

Were you content with that under O'Neill or did you want/expect more ?

I doubt we'll EVER finish in the top 4 again. So i've just accepted that and realised I don't actually care. As long as we 'try' to aim high i'm ok with falling short

I've never thought of the top 4 as some great triumph anyway. Winning something yes, finishing 4/3/2 = Not really that bothered

I'd love to see compeat, but I just know it won't happen. Like yourself I'd just like to see us play some good football and challenge for the cups, I'm not to interested in the Europa league tbh, under MON we had a chance to maybe get top 4 but we didn't spend in the right areas, plus a lot has changed with city, now Liverpool can get back to challenging. And when you have teams like QPR coming up with massive money it all makes it rather hard for us to be up there.
  3. My other reasons state why our "money" wouldn't be enough to tempt Moyes away. We have some money, but you realise we still have to cut the wage budget and be canny with our money as well? Under MON we spent 120m and got back what, 35m? What happens after we flog the deadwood on high wages? We'll automatically be back to a net spend of 20m a year again? My arse. We're not in financial doo-doo, but as we've seen its not hard to get yourself into it. We are not a club in a position to offer the kind of backing Moyes would want to convince him to join us. In my opinion.
I agree with this, Even though Randy allowed the signing of Bent I don't see him allowing that kind of money to be spent in the summer so I think for any new manager it's going to be tough or for Houllier if he stays.
  4. Whos SGC......if its Sid, it does,nt sound like the Sid i know tbh.

    No, it's a poster on here, sir_gary_cahill.

He's an absolute mental case. Ignore everything he says.

But thankfully the new head of youth development at AstonVilla

hmm really confused at the moment... so your saying SGC is the new head of youth development or what?? lol, :s and for the post earlier no we are not from killkenny. Dublin,Kerry and Galway grandparents are from.

Sorry, I got the players mixed up. God I hope the lad doesn't have a bad patch of form at some stage, SGC will be here to rip him to shreds I'm sure.
  5. also, i've absolutely no idea why we signed drennan, he is dreadful

players such as seb jenkins (the right back), reece caira (the left back), connor taylor (the right winger) and michael drennan (the striker) should never for the club again, even at youth level.

Drennan was shocking, ethan moore is 10x better, I have no idea why we waste our time buying these irish youngsters

He's absolutely shocking, he literally can't run and has poor technnical ability, I'll never know why we signed him in the first place, let alone gave him a professional contract, as I've said before the likes of him, reece caira, seb jenkins and connor taylor should be released immediately, they are nowhere near good enough for this great club

We have no-one to play instead of them, they are all awful players

what on earth makes you think drennan is talented? he can't run

To be honest, I don't care what you think about any player.

However, i think it is really crass to slate young kids who are playing for our youth teams. They are following a dream. They have been closely watched by Villa scouts and they have seen something in their games that impress and they would like to develop. The majority will never make it and that is a fact that i'm sure Villa stress throughout their spells at the clubs.

What if these young lads look on the forum, or their parents? I think at such a young age they deserve to be given a bit of a chance.

As soon as they make the first team squad, then everyone is entitled to an opinion. But as young kids learning each day, surely they shouldn't be open to such negative crap.

I heard SGC is being lined up has head if youth development, he seems to know more than the people that have managed to bring in, Garry Cahill, Gabby, Clarke, Albrighton and many others. I have to be honest though, I thinks SGC has more of a hate of where this lad is from than the type of player he is or could become. Sad little person IMHO.
  6. Graham is the one being scouted, but he's a year too young to sign a contract right now.

Grealish has a few years yet, but as said in this thread he's a Villa fan.

Is he the lad from Killkenny in Ireland??.

No, thats Micheal Drennan, who SGC has slated endlessly and said he should never play for the club again.

Got to question somebody who gets their kicks tearing teenagers playing fo youth teams to shreds. Pretty tasteless as far as I'm concerned.

I'm sure SGC is better than them though :winkold:

he's not good enough for this great football club, it's as simple as that

That's the lad I'm thinking of. I'll trust the people at our club more than I'll trust you when it comes to youth.
  8. It's nothing got to do with who signed him, IMHO he's to light weight for the prem, I think he'll be bullied all over the park. Plus if GH thought he we needed a center mid in Jan, do you not think he should have went for someone that didn't need to settle in. More poor management IMO.

  9. What class player (for example) on the continent is gonna want to sign for Moyes at a mid-table club? He may be a respected name in Britain but overseas he would be just another British manager trying to reach the big time.

We need a big named manager that can attract and work with the type of players that can take us to the next level.

Moyes,Hughes,Coyle,Lambert they will be no different to MON and end up just signing the likes of the Wayne Bridges and Scott Parkers of this world.

Houllier is the man to take us forward, he has the connections and the name to attract the calibre of player required to get into the top 4.

What makes you think Houller is the man to get these players??. Your off your head if you think he'll get these players, and even more mad if you think he'll get us near the top 8 never mind the top **** 4. He's a useles manager that had his time with Liverpool years ago.

I think he is highly reguarded by many world class players both at home and on the continent. He has had massive influences on the type of calibre player's careers that end up playing at top clubs. Players like Toulalan, Malouda, Benzema, Gerrard are just a few that have graced the big stage that he had big influences on.. Words are that there are another batch of class players behind all these that Houllier is well aware of and has the pull to sign. Maybe M'Vila, M'Bengue etc? I dont know.

Only a couple a days ago we have McAllister getting all excited in the press saying that big things are going to happen and there's people/players we want to bring in.

Houllier has moved on since Liverpool and Lyon, does he not get the inside info at the French Football Federation about raising talents? Isnt/wasny he something to do with Clairfontane?

I would hate to throw away a huge opportunity for Villa to reach the big time.

Fair enough, if this is what you think. But there is know way GH with get the players like the ones you say above, all of them players are going to a club that can always offer champs league football, it won't happen here.

    He got Makoun.

Who has been mainly poor, and I don't really see him being a great success.
