  1. I think it's rather sad that even Wigan fans don't rate him. But what's even worse, totally embarassing, is that fans on here are getting excitied by him. You need to look at the Wigan boards then, anyone can find an isolated quote from some clearing in the woods. Look on these boards.
  2. He was actually 15 mins away from relegation. Doubt they would of considered him either. Fickleness. Correct. One goal basically. Say if Villa had won six more games and made the champions league, does anyone think we would have let GH go?
  3. Happy if it's Martinez. He's a class act and he'll have my full support. This is future planning and I like it - you ask the Wigan fans, they loved what they saw of him and his style, they had injuries at crucial times and very little investment.
  4. I'm not a betting man. But I've just put some cash on Ancelotti. So I guess it could be the beginning of a long painful habit or the last bet I ever place.
  5. Rafa's win record isn't particularly inspiring is it?!
  6. Apparently we've already met with Moyes/reps twice already. Who told you that Salifou ????????? Looks like the advert for Hangover II Look at who else is on holiday with Rooney and Moyes..... ` Andy Carroll?? Jesus is reborn! Maybe GMAC is getting hair transplant tips!
  7. Does Jol's appointment mean that Hughes is free to take on a new role immediately?
  8. Ranieri currently at 50/1 is never going to happen, is it?
  9. It seems to me that MM is hinting that a)he is a 'big' name that wont disappoint and b)he's a dark horse that isn't one of the 3 or 4 we're all talking about. The only person I can think of would be Scolari, is that too mental a thought?
  10. Andy Gray made a good point the other day that fans are clueless when it comes to understanding how chairman work. He said that we think they think about these kinds of decisions in the a completely different way and that there's no rhyme or reason and that they're certainly not hanging about to see what the fans think. They think they know best, that's why they bought the club and people like Randy are making decisions involving millions of pounds on a daily basis, the reason they're successful is not because they consult but because they make tough decisions confidently knowing that it won't be the end of the world if they make a bad call - and that's where it'd be different if it was mine or your choice. And sadly that's why I won't be too surprised if it is McClaren. If he gets to sit down with Randy, talks up his credentials and comes across as a good guy who won't be too hard to oversee. Just a thought.
  11. So you'd prefer a man who's kept Wigan up by the skin of his teeth, to a man who took Boro to 7th, won the League Cup, got to a European final and won a Dutch club their first ever title? Can I ask why? Because I like the way Martinez approaches the game, his team play some great football, he was unlucky with injuries and didn't have much of a budget. He'd start with a much better group of players and I think we should get him while we can. He's a modern, intelligent manager on the up, in my opinion, and McClaren isn't.
  12. OK what with whats happened today here's my new list 1. Hughes 2. Martinez 3. Moyes 126. Benitez 678. McClaren
  13. Now is that an umbrella as in McClaren or eyebrows as in Ancelotti??
  14. Because a few think the rest of us are idiots, that's why.
  15. I'm sort of coming around to this way of thinking as well. There are some very bright managerial prospects out there (the three you mention in particular, plus maybe Coyle), but one of these would be a huge gamble that could easily backfire. True but I actually think that the risk of disaster is much higher with a manager who has a big reputation to protect and an ego that splits the dressing room. I've met Poyet and know people who work with him on a daily basis and they all love him because he's so hungry, passionate but also extremely approachable and respected, he's the epitome of the modern manager and I suspect Lambert and Martinez are similar characters. I just think we need something a bit different because, let's be honest, if MON failed to break the top 6 I can't see Moyes et al doing it.
  16. If we can't get a top top manager (Ancelloti) then I'd honestly prefer us to go for Martinez, Lambert or Poyet. I'd rather have a young hungry manager who'd be grateful for the chance and get us playing attacking football. Hughes/Jol/Moyes are much of a muchness to me, I wouldn't be disappointed but I think all three have proven what they can do - pretty much what we've done for the last ten years. Time for a bit of a risk.
  17. I appreciate that Carlo is a long shot and unlikely but please don't let it be him OR McClaren, surely there's more of a plan than that! It'd be like plucking up the courage to ask out Cameron Diaz and if that fails going for Anne Widdecombe.
  18. He also didnt really sign them players as Berlusconi did a lot of signing and selling at Milan A bit like how Faulkner bought Bent eh? :winkold: Let's get this Berlesconi chap in as well then. He'd be happy, have you seen some of the women serving the pies at VP these days, they probably wouldn't even sue.
