A fair point, but could also be other reasons? (c'mon lets keep the conjecture bandwagon rolling its fun and hasn't been rolling for so long the wheels nearly fell off !) Do you not think its probable we will make at least one more quality signing ?
Nope.
Will be squad fillers now, people who can do us a job for the next few years. Not great exciting talents like Carew and Young.

I would be delighted if we sign Matty Taylor!! But isn't this the same as the " Defoe in a Brum's hotel" story? And why would pompy want to sell him, they are just as loaded as we are.
Can somebody make calls to all hotels near by and see if we can speak to Taylor himslef?
Are you being serious? :?
Matt Taylor is in Portsmouth, not Birmingham. No inside info, just a hunch :winkold:

I posted elsewhere that MON was "spotted" about two three weeks ago having lunch with reo-coker. In the same post I also mentioned that I had been told by a "friend of someone in the know" had said that a press conference would be called on about wed/thurs of this week and an announcement would be made concerning a player not under general discussion. Although I did not particularly read too much into this I posted as an interesting possibilty as we all do. The two players connected with this info were ( and I know this is gonna be shot down) were SWP and Bellamy. It seems the press conference call was good, only time will tell on the other !
Well, seems SWP doesn't want to come to us so forget that one.
Bellamy is needed at Liverpool, he'll start most games now. Didn't play against Chelsea because Rafa wanted the big boys up there. Bellamy won't be leaving Liverpool.
Put those two to bed my friend.

He's a fairly non-descript looking bloke, are you SURE it was him?
Good player for the record.
My best mate who was with me, is a Pompey fan, he was convinced, I am 120% sure it was him.
Lol so your mate happends to be a Pompey fan too. Haha, what d'ya know!!?! lol.
Lets not be silly here boys, it would take us £8m or so to take that boy from Pompey and it ain't like they need the money
This is BS in my opinion.
Also don't think we particularly need him.

Toon confirm Davies interest
Glenn Roeder has confirmed his interest in bringing West Brom defender Curtis Davies to Newcastle.
The Magpies chief has seen a number of moves fail to bear fruit this month, as he attempts to beef up his options.
Roeder has made strengthening his defence one of his key priorities and Davies would appear to be high on his wish-list.
"Getting top-class young English defenders like Curtis Davies is proving a tough nut to crack," he told the Evening Chronicle.
"I have to say he's one of the players we have targeted in the January window, but if we don't get him he has to be a possibility for the summer."
Roeder also confirmed an approach for one of Arsenal's young guns had fallen on deaf ears.
"We have asked Arsenal if we could have one of their young players on loan, but Arsene Wenger said he wants to keep him at the moment because he is not ready to play Premiership football week-in, week-out," stated Roeder.
"We have accepted Arsene's decision and, as far as this player is concerned, that is the end of the matter."

Not sure if we would need this fella now. I'd say Cahill is just as good as him, if not better. Mellberg, Ridgewell, Laursen. The ability of Bouma and Barry to play defence also.
Shame though, think Toon will have a new CB come the arrival of Villa next week.

'The fridge', would be a good signing I think. Basing that on what I've been told, must admit I've not seen a lot of him. Isn't he rather injury prone?
Isn't he called the 'wardrobe'? lol.

Fulham just had an offer accepted for Papa Bouba Diop Clicky
If he was able to stay healthy he would be a good option IMO.
You mean Wigan have had an offer accepted?!
About £1m they reckon, absoloute bargain. Why would he want to go there though? A shit place to live, in a relegation battle? :?

A rumour from tonight on the BBC website says we're going to sign Steve Sidwell on Monday. Would be a pretty good player to have in the squad.
Would be a quality signing.
-
Hasn't been in Manchester United's squad since November, so it does make you wonder what's going on there?
Still revovering from the leg break? Or is he just not the same anymore?
-
Just on Neill - from what I have read in the papers it may not be a done deal to WH. The deal Blackburn made with Liverpool was cash plus Warnock. Hughes will need to find a new fullback if Neill (note the two "l"s, just like O'Neill) goes to Hammers.
Hughes has always said unless the deal's right for Rovers Lucas will have to wait til summer.
Don't start his name again, just read 3 pages about him
Forget Lucas 'flippin I'll break your leg' Neill!

Seconded.....'?'Villa agree fee with Man Utd for Alan Smith?
Thirded.
Fourthed !!
whats going on?
I think Lukeavfc has some explaining to do!
Didn't Wigan have a £7m bid rejected for him last week?
So if this is true, which it most likely isnt. How much are we offering?

Hey?! Have I missed something here?

West Ham have just signed Davenport for a supposed £3m fee.
Think we've just lost out on Young guys! They wanted to give Davenport and someone else for Young, but they didn't wana go to Watford. Looks now like Spurs will offer cash only.
£3m for Davenport - he's shit!
I think Young is a gonner now. Ah well.

Another fun day of seeing who we'll be signing today.
My prediction: Nobody
-
With Chelsea seeming open for busiess again with the news that it seems Tal Ben Haim will be signing for £2.5m in the next week, does this mean that the SWP bid could be resurected?
Mourinho stated that nobody would be leaving and nobody would be coming. With Bain Haim going there, that goes against that philosophy.
Who knows.
-
Don't ask me why, lol, but I feel a signing coming on today.
Hmmmm.
Why?
Complete guess.
We're due one.

Frank Lampard having a medical seemingly. Haven't seen this anywhere else.
Sums up this whole thread!

I'm not meaning to be a word removed, but just some people on here are expecting wonders just because we've got a bit of money now and a great manager.
Football doesn't really work like that, I mean look at West Ham. They've gone for Ashley Young and SWP and had bids accepted, but both players have apparantly rejected the chance to even talk to them.
Okay, we're not in the bottom three, but we're in the bottom six - FACT.
It's going to be hard to attract any kind of players right now, especially with how we're going in the league, because ultimately, that's what the RIGHT sort of players look at, at the end of the day. Those are the players MON is after, I genuinely believe that. These players won't even consider coming to Villa until the Summer I'm afraid.
People need to stop stressing themselves out over the transfer window and just get on with their lives. I love villa etc, but at the end of the day, Villa doesn't know or love you, so you need to just get on with it. In terms of me - lol, Villa doesn't care If I fail my Uni exams. I'm just coming on here to check any transfer news, but I'm not gonna allow myself to get stressed.
380 pages nearly of transfer rumours and suggestions - who's actually signed?!
-
 at this whole transfer thread.
Wait until the Summer. Nothing is going to happen this month.
We'll probably get a few in towards the end of next week, but they won't be anything exciting, just stop gaps until the end of the season.
-
Well I've seen Joey Barton in Liverpool town centre enough times. There's a guitar shop that he always goes to. So he can't be that scared of coming here because I've seen him many times.
He'll go to Everton, he's a scouser. Get over it, he won't come to Villa. Why would he? As a City player, he has just seen his team beat us every season, it's their easiest game of the season.

Some people have short memories!!
What short memories are those? Did he not score yet ANOTHER wonder at the weekend?
Why don't you go and ask Liverpool fans if they want to see him go, because believe me, in Liverpool, the lad is a LEGEND, and it's easy to see why!
As for his Villa days, yeah he missed some chances, what strikers don't? But i remember goals he scored against Bolton and Boro before he left, quality.
I'd love Crouchy back. £11m would be ridiculous, but LOL, who gives a flying fu*k!!
It ain't your money, the club ain't gonna do anything silly. I back MON 100%!!!
-
I reckon if Crouch was 7 inches shorter, he'd be a lot more popular.
7" shorter, 10x as skillful, able to head a ball and have instinctive striking insincts.
But then again, he does have a good touch for a big man
The guy is loved in Liverpool.
I'd love him at the Villa! Don't care what the rest of you think
Legend!!
