Sheffield and Burnley is as close to a guaranteed 6 points as you can get
What happened to us then? Full strength on the back of a million home wins.

He continues to get better and better with the ball at his feet by the way. He's absolutely key to the way we play at the back and it's priceless.
It's a big reason why it's such a step down when we have to play Olsen. No disrespect to Olsen, he was good the last time he played. But he's simply not capable of passing the ball like Emi
It's 100% a tactic we played yesterday. We baited their press with Emi having the ball so deep (almost in the goal a few times) and then he released the pressure with fast accurate passing.
FWIW it's also why it was so key Tielemans had a good game yesterday. Baiting the press with quick, accurate passing is super rewarding to watch.

Timing too, spurs play 28th April, we have 2 games before then
Big if but if we win both games that's a 9 point gap, all kinds of pressure on them going in to a 3 game run of arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool
Conversely I think if spurs come out of that 3 game run with 9 points they'll be flying and mentally on it but that's an even bigger if than ours
If we're 9 ahead at that point, they could win all 3 and still be behind us on GD which would be a pretty deflating

He looks really really good. Big strong but great on the ball. Like a stockier JJ for sure

19 goals and 10 assists for lowly Aston Villa. POTS

How are we still playing European games and 1 game ahead of everyone else? Have they just had prolonged rest periods?
With injuries and suspensions too. Mad.

Maddison gets away with murder honestly. No idea why because he isn’t likeable. He’s a rat.

We could feasibly be 6 ahead of spurs before they even play Sheffield United or Burnley

‚Independent panel’ say Carlos should have got a penalty against Brentford. Great. But they also unanimously said that VAR was right to not get involved

People a few weeks ago was talking like 5th giving cl was a given
Not sure they were? Only ‚given’ posts I’ve seen are about us finishing 5th. 5th being CL has been up in the air always. Especially with the CL draw.

Throw the game

If we needed to sell Ramsey for example, Rogers looks an almost ready made replacement.

30m for a 5’11 uncapped 29 year old centre back certainly was a choice

Despite the sort of negative post I myself have posted, and the majority of this thread have too, we’ve just won a home leg of a European quarter final 2-1 lads
drink it in

From the moment their left back kicked through the back of Bailey nowhere near the ball I thought we were in a for a long night of no yellows from the ref
looked like we wanted to conserve energy apart from a 10 min spell in the 2nd half where we were lively
so vulnerable in the transition, next week will be hell
Carlos just astonishingly bad

Never seen a positive why he cost 30 mill , lacks awareness and switches off his always got a mistake in him.
Also not strong, not good in the air, not defensively sound, not good on the ball

Still plenty of ties to go guys. Even if Bayern win and arsenal lose then its directly city vs Bayern. Also dortmund don’t look like winning

Unai Emery

What's also amazing is the team spirit he's instilled. Not in the sense of cheerleading the players and making them feel good (a la Bruce) but in the way every player knows their role.
Bailey today, starts on the bench. No huff, knows he's a key player, comes on at 60 minutes and scores. He's loving life.
No prima donnas, no attitudes, just every player in the squad knowing their role, and performing it to a high standard.
Zaniolo the same. He could have sulked; instead he talks up Emery in the press, gets his chance today and puts in a MOTM performance.
I've never seen anything like it.
