  1. Oh thank goodness, thought it was £7.5m and was like wtf

I thought it was Euros and was thinking there is no way Lambert would spend £6.5m on one player like this unless it was Teke's replacement.

    Thank god its Krone.

  2. Probably replace Baker up until the 5th minute of our first game when Vlaar goes off injured.

Leaving us with (right footed) Okore next to Lowton and Baker next to hopefully a new LB.

Until the 7th minute when Baker gets a head injury and is replaced by Clark :D

  3.

Matt Lowton is 27th on that list.

    Nathanial Clyne is 5th.

Sounds about right, I love Lowton (and I also really rate Clyne, wanted us to sign him for a couple of years before he joined Soton) but Clyne definitely seems like the quicker player. The one gripe I have with Lowton is that he isn't quite as quick as I would like a modern attacking fullback to be. (He does However he usually makes up for this with his impeccable reading of the game.)

  4.

    Wow what great news.

This guy really ticks a lot of boxes for me.

Think this is a superb signing.

    Somebody DEFINITELY stole BJ10's laptop!

Yeah I was wondering if I have some how crossed into an alternate universe.

  5. Have I missed where anybody said it was a done deal and that there would be multiple signings at once? I may have but it looks to have just chinese-whispered through the thread?

  6. Macron Bologna, Wow.....

    Macron-Bologna-Kits-12-13.jpg

I really like that away kit (the white one). The home one isnt too bad either.

The design that is. Cant blame Macron for the awfully huge and ugly logo of the sponsor

  7.

so far being linked with 3 wingers, surely we arent signing them all?

We'll probably end up with none of them. but Belhanda isn't really a winger, a CAM really but can play on the wing or deeper in midfield.

For arguments sake, though, lets assume all of these bids/rumours are true. We could line up:

                       Guzan

    Lowton   Vlaar  Okore   Cresswell

              Westwood   Sylla

    Popov       Belhanda        Tonev

                     Benteke

But yeah, you are right. Extremely unlikely we'd sign them all. Probably 1 out of the 3, using the other 2 to keep the price of the 1 we will sign down. a la bidding for Dempsey knowing full well we wouldnt get him but closing the Benteke sale.

I like how Weimann and Agbonlahor are just cast out here! Nothing I've seen suggests Popov or Tonev would dislodge either.

Of course not. Was just showing how the 3 could fit in together. I think Weimann would lose his place though if the formation was kept the same.

  8. Here is the article

Aston Villa have slapped an incredible £40m price tag on in-demand striker Christian Benteke.

Villa boss Paul Lambert is hoping the jaw-dropping figure will scare off interest from Atletico Madrid, Arsenal and Tottenham.

They are determined not to sell this summer even though there is a realisation they will not be able to keep 22-year-old Benteke in the long term.

Atletico director general Miguel Angel Gil Marin has had talks with Benteke’s representatives and claims he has had discussions with Villa over a potential summer move.

Atletico boss Diego Simeone has identified Benteke as his No1 choice to replace Radamel Falcao who has gone to Monaco in a stunning £50m move.

Spurs are also keen and Mirror Sport revealed yesterday that they are prepared to put Jermain Defoe into a player-plus-cash deal.

Arsenal are also watching developments closely and he would be high on their hit-list as Arsene Wenger looks for a new striker, having admitted previously he considered Benteke before he moved to Villa.

But Villa are determined not to cash in even though they could make an incredible profit on the £8m they paid Genk for Benteke last summer.

Benteke has taken the Premier League by storm and is now a hot property with the Belgian also eyeing another big season approaching next summer’s World Cup.

But Villa are holding firm and if Benteke goes this summer then it will not be on the cheap.

  10. Surely not? I can see Arsenal and Liverpool coming in for him. Him mentioning us by name though is definitely starting to make me think its a possibility. But he's a very very good player. It just goes against everything I have conditioned myself to believe in our transfers! haha.

Still sceptical but I would **** love us to sign him. Would be a great player for some of our youngsters to learn from.

Belhand feeding balls through to Benteke.....oooosh

  11. Yes please. Fits the bill perfectly and is better than both Clark and Baker.

If we have bid £3m then it shouldn't take too much more to get him according to this article in January by The Sun

    OKORE WILL COST £4m

DEFENDER Jores Okore can go to Fulham or Chelsea for £4million say his Danish club Nordsjaelland.

    Okore, 20, also interests Liverpool.

:D Yes. That is the entire 'article'

  12. I know people are thinking that he'd be eyeing a move to a top 4 club here and wouldn't give us a look.

    Things to consider;

The team is now being built with young players that show potential,

We have a manager who clearly plans on being here for a while and building a system,

Our better performers have drawn attention based on their performances, notable Benteke and Weimann.

Coming to Villa would be good for his career as he'd probably get first team football, be part of something that could be special or in failing that, has a platform that he stands out and can command a large wage in a year or two if he performs.

He'd get first team football in a lot of Champions League clubs around Europe. For example, Arsenal build there team (for better or worse) around young players, the manager has built their system up and has been there for 14 years and their better players have moved to Barcelona or Man City about 5 or 6 times in the last few years and even more before that, most notably Fabregas and Henry ;)

But I sort of agree with where you are coming from. Just Belhanda is better than any other midfielder we have by quite some distance, he'd get game time at Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs at least in England, and at a lot of clubs in (or fighting for) CL around Europe.

I'd love it if he came here mind.
