There clearly are though. The manager is a factor of course but I don't think it's one or the other.

I don't think the mental issues are with this particular group of players per se but I do think we've been weak and in decline for so long that it "infects" new players. We've been one of the most mentally weak and fragile teams in the football league for years.

The only constant is us fans. We expect better and have zero patience with low standards. This tells.

    Haven't had one since Milner

Spot on. Feels like we've finally replaced some key players from years ago.

Absolutely, totally, utterly ecstatic with these signings! What a window.

Ugh that explains it. Do players seem to think they can go to villa for some sort of well-paid extended vacation? Wtf!

I think so. But there's a new sheriff in town.

So nobody on VT got a call from Yorke and Platt... Get a grip. RIP Graham Taylor. I am sure his players are thankful for what he did for them and let his family know.

Hopefully. But a public tribute goes a long way. GT certainly deserved it.

  5. Came here to write something but it's all been said, and better. It's Interesting what isn't said about Mr Taylor, and speaks volumes. To a man, people have spoken of his decency and of being a gentleman through and through.

A top man. Rest in peace.

Damn it's sad. Wolves Villa will be emotional.

  6. This might have been mentioned, I'm playing catch up, but these signings are also good as they're Bruce's. I like it when the boss is accountable, rather than making the best of someone else's choices. True shaping begins, and summer can't come soon enough.

Just to add my thoughts on the Gabby thing, i can't help but feel that with Ayew, Kodjia and Adomah all away for the ACON, he's trying to give Gabby as much of an opportunity to get fit as he can, should be need a play a big role in January.

    This, squared.

Also, it shows Bruce is a man of his word, to fans and players alike. He said clean slate, and that's what it has been. To do otherwise when Gabby's kept his end of the bargain - by getting fit at least - would've been unwise and bad for morale.

Is Gabby the future? Of course not. But he can help us now, and Bruce is enabling that. Fine management.

  8. What I like about the Gabby situation is that it shows Bruce to be a man of his word, a strong signal to send. Adds to the all-in-it-together vibe we've found. It was also great to see how properly chuffed Gabby was for Baker after scoring - there's good stuff in this team, and bags to come.

As for Bruce, I just think there's something very, very special percolating at Villa and he fits us perfectly the way Big Ron did. Calderwood will bolster us no end.

    Lovin this.

One quick look at the Sheikh of the Muscle's website and it already tells me full on that he is world-class quality, and that even clubs like Inter are lucky to have him. He is using techniques only discovered months back by close partners (whom are professors), and is definitely unique from most other fitness coaches. See here: http://www.maxmarchesi.com/new-methodologies/

Oh, yes, and welcome Robben De'Matthias

Think only getting Gym Jones in could be more exciting. Top stuff!

  11. I can't remember the last time I finished watching a game in a good mood, I'm feeling a lot more positive about the season already.

And if we feel like that as fans, imagine how the team feel. Cannot underestimate what this result will do for us. Tonnes of training time to come and to improve further. One step, but a big one.

  12. I have to tell my son we lost - again - in the morning. Depressed beyond tablets. Time for bed. Talking of which, how can Lambert sleep? No amount of money can compensate for performing poorly at work. I'd have thought he's ok for a few quid, so resigning, giving us a chance to survive and taking a load of pressure off himself seems a win for all concerned. There's bravery and commitment, then there's just being stubborn and evading reality.

  13. Any else remember 2006 when Sky got hysterical about their "scoop" that Lerner had bailed out of the Ellis sale and was flying back to the States and how everyone (well, me anyway) thought Ellis had somehow **** it all up for us and what a **** he was and blah, blah, blah...

We know nothing about what goes on. Even info that it's off would be suspicious in light of the above. It's only fun to speculate if you accept we know absolutely jack shit about any of this.
