I'd like to have him with a chant using Miss Dynamite's song because I want to hear the Holte sing in the Alto range.

I know i am being a bit greedy here, but to me we need two good players in every position with champions league football on the horizon to be able to use both players in a game for a 45 minute minutes just like we can use bailey and Diaby and then have a Rodgers and Ramsey combo for a half apiece. We need to focus on minutes for players to cut the injury and fitness risks, where by we lose players for a long period of time through and have poor replacements or using Konsa to play in every position. Unai has us on the conveyor belt type of football where having a squad will be all important and we know the man see's the future, what a time to be a Villa fan.

It's not so much greedy as unrealistic. There are so few clubs, if any, that can really do that and it's nigh on impossible to have 2 players of comparable quality in every position.

Jonathan Rowe is the one I want.

Not a Rogers-type signing because he'd cost far more.

Of course we want signings that fit right in and don't cost very much but they're very much the exception and not something that we should expect when we're shelling out relatively small amounts.

surprised not to see him get a run out today, even to close out the game.

It probably suggests his time with Unai may come to a close soon.

Yep. Think that pretty much confirms it.

Couldn’t see from the stands but what happened before the penalty? He went down in the centre circle like he’d eaten a left hook from Anthony Joshua.   Konsa was going mad at him after.  Im guessing he was being a fanny?

Looked like he was fouled on the replays tbh but VAR didn't think so.

  6. Definitely need to upgrade on him this summer. He's not a bad player by any stretch but he doesn't have the composure required to play the way we need him to, sadly.

At least the SiGN sCoTt pArK3r lot have something new to get on. I swear he was the bones of 40 and people were still blabbering on about him.

I am not telling you how to be a fan, and what to be interested in, its ok, if you like that sort of thing.

I trust the club, to manage its affairs.....and don't like drifting in to area's. I feel, don't concern me.....as the saying goes " curiosity killed the cat"

I accept the well being of the club, does impact on us, but it's not in our control.....I trust the management and the owners, to get those things under control.

I really only concentrate on the football.

I was privvy, many years ago, to some of the behind the scenes issues.....and it spoilt it for me as a fan.... so I left/resisted the invitations to the players lounge and the ambience of that.....and went back to the terraces, where I feel I belong.

and that's where, i want to stay.

Some of the behind the scenes stuff, I don't want to know......It spoils the dream of being a fan.....but hey ho.

Fair enough - but wages are an important consideration when you're talking about signings and squad planning, which is what we discuss a lot on this forum.

Disciplinary UEFA panel can eat a d***

Yellow cards should be wiped after the Quarter Finals, right...well that is unless aforesaid d*** eating panel speak French?

Sounds like you need to calm down with a bit of Zhan zhuang mate

  10. Curious to see what the future holds for him.

Wouldn't surprise me to see him sold in the summer because I feel that given the CM issues we've had, we would have seen more of him if Emery rated him.

Another tired comeback in a discussion. Did I say I know more than the manager? It's just my opinion. Like yours or anyone else's.

Well my opinion is that it's a bad take 🤷‍♂️

The ref was standing way too close all pen shootout and even moved forward towards the spot as Luiz was on his run up. Couldn't believe what I was seeing.

The ref really suffered from main character syndrome all night long. Thankfully it worked in our favour for Cash's goal.

No obviously that's not what I meant. I would have played Rogers or someone else. My point was even with Bailey injured, I wouldn't have started him.

It's pretty sweet that you think you know better than a manager who holds our highest win percentage by almost 10 percent. 🤣

you would've risked further escalating his injury and potentially having bailey out for this crucial run in?

This is probably why he's not a football manager.

It is odd that anyone who dares to criticise him is jumped on by the usual suspects. The statistics don't mean much to me because the eye test is far more important. I dont trust him at all in big games or against top opposition. It was mistake to start him last night, even with Bailey carrying a knock. Games like that are not for him. His lacklustre performance was inevitable.

It's because the criticism is often hyperbolic and frankly foolish. He's better than a goal or assist every other game in terms of minutes played but you seem to think he's the next Brett Holman.

At least in 18 league games, whether starting or sub, he’s been played up front or central attacking mid - not his natural position. He’s had his best success as a right winger. I still think he’s been a success for that reason. He was poor yesterday but a lot of players underperformed. I don’t think the rush by some to write players off is helpful.

To put things into perspective, 15 goal contributions in all comps would have been our 2nd most last season and 1st the season before.

As soon as he came on at 2-0, he pointed to the clock and shouted to the team: come on we still have time. His attitude and application has been top all season, really he’s been our MVP along with Ollie. Looks a £90m footballer, exciting, skilful, direct, with plenty of end product. Changed the game again last night as we finally began to get a foothold. His hunger to chase Lille down, put tackles in was an example to most last night that were just flagging. Another Unai Emery masterclass bringing out this beast. What a player we have here now.

I think he's now comfortable within the side. He strikes me as quite a quiet, slightly introverted type who takes a while to fully trust people around him (which makes a lot of sense given his upbringing) but now he feels at home and part of the team.

  18. He's done well in his first season in a very difficult league - one that is far more demanding physically than what he's previously experienced.

He's played 2605 of minutes in all comps and chipped in 15 goal contributions. That's not bad at all.

We paid a lot of money for him, so I do get that there are additional layers of expectation on him.

I think the bigger issue is that he's having to cover the whole of central midfield because whilst Tielemans and McGinn have plenty of positives points, defensively they are pretty bad (or more correctly they're pretty bad when they are defending close to our own box).  He looks so much better when Kamara plays because it lifts that burden off him.  So he's doing more of the dirty work and less of more eye-catching stuff.  The midfield is less balanced and I think that puts more pressure on Luiz.

We seriously need another DCM to cover for Kamara and at times to play alongside Kamara and Luiz so that we can absorb more pressure and then hit teams fast on the break.

    All of this.

I think it's clear that Emery doesn't think Tim is up to it either, so we definitely need at least one CDM and possibly an additional youngster in that position.
