  1. General Krulak here:

Re. the new CEO...I did not indicate that you would necessarily "know" the individual although you might. What I said is that you would like the name...particularly after you look at his experience in the areas that are critical to our Club as we move forward. Remember, we have a great Manager who is exceptional at evaluating players, motivating players, and "coaching" the players he has. We have an owner who has huge experience in the Sports arena and has roots in the UK and is well-respected in the FA as the "new guy on the block." What we need now is someone who, on a day-to-day basis has the experience and leadership ability to move the Club forward across a gamut of activities.

    Semper Fidelis, General Krulak

Lokks like it may be someone who worked for the FA, Adam Crozier, Graham Kelly... Mark Palios? Lock up your daughters! I thought Trevor Birch always knew what he was doing.

  2. My first post, I was directed here from another forum.

My cousin plays for Villa (reserves and sometimes the first team!) and has definatley assured me that Kris Commons is on his way to Villa Park. He occasionaly goes fishing with him and there are plenty of rumours. He texts me quite often with the gossip from the training ground and was the first person to tell me Baros was at the club before he signed.

Other names bandied about (by the reserve team, so no definate links) are Bellamy, Richards, Barton and Milner (which should be a definate now)

Other than Milner I don't see any of these happening. I reckon we may bid for Parker seeing what MO'N has said regarding McCann being irreplaceable.

  3. McShane looked good against the Czechs and as far as I know, he is not on loan at Man Utd and is a WBA player but do we really need another central defender?

Robbie Keane is simply not good enough and I think if Villa were to sign anybody from the Irish squad, I'd go for Doyle (Reading) and Reid (Blackburn) even though the latter is injured. Doyle is doing well so far in the Premiership, is scoring goals and plays as the 'target man' for Ireland. Reid was in great form before the injury and would be excellent cover for McCann. Maybe we could get Duffer is the Barcodes go down!

You are joking! A guy on loan at WBA is great but Ireland's best player for years is not good enough? Please explain as I must be losing it.

  4. Smith is a bully............. we could do with one up front, MON seems to favour this he did at Leicester with Heskey and Celtic with Sutton.

Just a strong player up front to offer as the "out ball"......... Smith could be good at this. If we could choose I'd prefer Beattie

Judging on how Beattie played on Saturday, how he blew us out and how he got his face kicked in outside SOBAR, he can **** right off!

  5. I went to the Charlton game with an American client from Washington DC and he wanted the Champions of Europe top but we only had long sleeve so he got a training top at half the price, and we weren't able to get programmes in the Holte Upper! All in all £20 we missed out on as a club and who knows when my client will return but he is a Villa fan now General!

  6. good report.

intersting reports on petrov, i started a thread a few weeks ago and said that the player we say in his first 2-3 games isnt on the pitch anymore, when he first started he run the pitch, created chances and was always available, lately he doesnt.

He aint as good in a 4-4-2 as 4-3-3, the sooner we are back to it the better.

  7. I spend time in Washington DC trying to make a difference in the foreign policy arena...VERY difficult to do right now.

    I don't envy you.

You should have a look at the Saddam thread in Off Topic.

name me another board member in the British football world with this kind of influence .....

    phew !!!

I hear that David Gold is very big in the International Federation of Dildo Producers based in Amsterdam!

  8. Another question for the General is regarding the use of Villa Park as a concert venue. We haven't had many gigs at Villa Park for what appears a long while, I think it was Rod Stewart in the 1990s.

Does the General think that we can make considerable revenue from staging such events or are there or costs to consider such as the local community and the pitch/field?

General, I'm sure you can see that such a forum with the board of our club has been eagerly awaited, please advise Randy, Bob and Michael Martin that they too are very welcome to come aboard the good ship Villa Talk, it isn't all serious though. There is a good totty thread in off topic!

  9. Is that really a redcard offence? I wasn't aware you'd become a mod Oldfart.

You are constantly claiming me to be a United-fan, this is the third or fourth time. Do you have issues or something?

Quit being a bitch and realize there are good players outside Villa Park.

But I would like to raise another proposal though; what about that Darren Bent? He must be a great player when he manages to score that many goals

for such a CRAP team like Charlton.

What was it? 19 last season and 6 so far this season? That's pretty amazing stats for a player in a crap team like Charlton. Cos they really are shit and turds.

I reckon 9M would get him, and it would be well worth the risk.

I would rather spend £5m on Dave Nugent then £9m on Darrent Bent and I think MO'N might.

  10. Mr. Charles Krulak; welcome to the best Villa-forum on this planet.

I would like to share the greatest appreciation from the Scandinavian Villa-fans, although

    praise goes without saying.

    I have some questions though:

    1) Will you bring American players to raise interest in the states?

    2) Will Mr. Lerner conduct the transfer wheeling and dealing?

    3) Will you change our current sponsorship before the deal is up for renewing?

To be honest I think we all believe it's rather poor for a club of our stature and

it sends out the wrong ethical message in my opinion. I mean; a gambling-company?

I'm not the person who cares a whole lot about that, but I reckong certain people do.

    4) We currently field Hummel, a pretty lousy piece of garment from Denmark. Wouldn't

it be nice to wear Nike on the pitch? Even Puma or Adidas.... send the message to Lerner

that the fans would like to change both sponsorship and kit-supplier.

    5) Do you know about any positions Martin O'Neill would like to strengthen?

    6) Have you heard of David Beckham? I am pretty positive he would make us sell some

more kits down at Villa Park!

Again; support is too small a word given to the new regime. Cheers from Norway.

Think I can answer some of theses from a forum I attended with MO'N last Thursday.

    1. If MO'N wanted them.

    2. MO'N will choose the players.

    3. I think so.

    4. Whoever will make us the most money.

    5. I think up front is clearly a position as well as right wing.

    6. MO'N was asked about this and he said he would only sign a player if he felt they could do it for him on the pitch, not his job to sell shirts, his job is to win games. Thats the impression he gave anyway. Personally I think Beckham would be ok for us in a 3 man central midfield.

  11. Just one idea would it be possible to do a AVTV channel - screening reserve games and youth games + interviews and stuff - just like Man U. and Chelsea does? It could be distributed via satellite, i.e. Astra or hot bird and could be sold as an “add on†package for i.e. £5 a month or via web. I mean we have the interviews already on villa World and I guess that most reserve games are taped anyway? Just an idea - I think a lot of fans around the world would like to have an opportunity to follow the club even closer.

Thats a fantastic idea. I'd love to catch our reserve games on the box.

That would be a great idea, however i know the reserves dont get great attendances and i dont know how they compare to man u who show the reserve games on tv. But im guessing we might get just one man and his dog turning up if we were ot show the games. I think the TV channel is a great idea but leave out the reserve games until we get more sucessful.

The TV channel is surely something that the marketing mogul on the board, Bob Kain would advocate!

However I think that with regard to media it is most important that we strike a deal with BRMB to have our away games back on the radio, it was bad when the Villan radio station was on Sky but now it is terrible because WM always have Wolves or Walsall on! This is especially important for the elderly. As a pioneering Brooklyn Dodgers manager in the 20s thought itis imperative that we get maximum exposure to increase interest and would be complementary not a substitute to attendance.

Regarding Bob Kain that I would like to ask the General is if he has been to a game as yet and has he began to implement many of the things that he would think is necessary to get us to where we want to be?

With regards the position of CEO, are we waiting for a particular person or are we looking to conduct interviews for the position.

  12. Making the entire stadium non smoking would be a great idea in my opinion, the concourses are awful at half time.

Yeah i second that. Its great that the stands are no smoking but when you go downstairs at half time you hit a wall of smoke!

£500 for what is basically 4 season tickets, that isnt going to happen, double it and that is realistic.

the point is about encouraging families, this is the way to do it, I would rather see the staduim full and if this means incentives so be it ...

Get the kids in young and they will sty with us forever.

As to the comments about the shop, totally agree on the location points, but credit where it is due IMHO I believe it is superior to the shop at VP and is a quality shop in the wrong location.

Iguess the problem is a cost thing and whilst the bullring would be nice that is probably too expensive, however due to the bull ring opportunites lie in New Street and High street and the footfall there would make a shop viable.

The rent will be more but I think for perception would be invaluable and if you think of when you go shopping, I for one always go to a shop I hadn't planned to go to and normally make a purchase that I hadn't budgeted for. The longer opening hours in the Bull Ring are also attractive because at present I struggle to get to the shop in the week.

  13. No no, I am not an Utd-fan, are you **** mad?

Why do you keep saying that? It's getting irritating. Yes I like Ronaldo (did you see him today), and yes I think Richardson is a decent player, and yes I think O'Shea would be a great central defender, but I'm playing a lot of FM and those players are always on the cheap (except Ronaldo).

    I am a realist, however. Not a **** Utd-fan, you blasfemic bastard ;)

What I was pondering was not his abilities, I was asking you about his personal problems. You mentioned Hendrie and said something about his attitude.

I am bemused because I think you have ****'all to slam in the table. Pure speculation. I'm not saying he's a great player, I haven't really said I would want him either.

He would be a great squad-player, but I have never rated him as a great player.

You forgot Wes Brown and Fletcher. :winkold:

Darren Fletcher is the worst player in the Prem, get your facts right.

Actually I think that you will find that he isn't the worst player in the Prem. If he is then please forward the stats.

  14. Milners good but nothing better than what we have.. assuming he would play in the Gabby/Moore role. SWP would be an improvement.

But we have no backup to Luke and Gabby, I'd take Milner in a shot, a boy who works hard, can play either wing, a decent cross with either foot.

    We need him atm.

I agree.. if a bid for SWP was rejected. Then go for Milner. We have money.. a highly rated manager.. why wouldnt Shaun Wright Phillips come. We would also give him 90 min all the time.

Go for the both as Milner can play both wings and 4-3-3 brings out the best in Petrov.

  15. Re. "big names"...I didn't mean anyone in particular. My point was simply that there will probably be some quality players up for grabs BUT, if they don't fit into the needs of the Team as seen through the eyes of the Manager, we will go with Martin! This is an important fact for all of us to understand. Martin is going to come to us with recommendations...not visa versa. He is the Manager and there is not a single Director who believes he knows more than Martin.

The comment about the AV store in Birmingham. It is a great city but.....ugh on the store. We will do better.

    Semper Fidelis, General Krulak

Don't worry General my previous post was a poor attempt at a joke based upon the guys name being BIG.

With regards the shop, it should really be in a prime site in the Bull Ring. The current shop is so out of the way that my dad didn't know where it was, when looking for a present for me earlier this year! And this is a man who regularly attends games! I doubt that there is much impulse buying going on at the current store and the footfall is probably really low too.

  16. I think it is essential that the club has a major presence at Birmingham Airport, Birmingham New Street and the Bull Ring. Shops in these places would really give the impression to outsiders that the club is a major part of the city.. which of course it is. For the American market it would also be excellent if we opened a shop in Stratford Upon Avon, which as you will know general, is hugely popular with American tourists. How does that sound?

In addition, do you thinkwe should be excited about Rndy's transfer budget for Martin in the January transfer window?
