I am going to be at VP for the Man City game (back in England for two weeks) - I want to see him back then, for purely selfish reasons :-) 

Anyone else think the fact that United lost today could make them less likely to bid for Vlaar? Don't get me wrong, I think he's good enough for them in their current state and would greatly improve their defence but at the same time I don't think he's a big enough "name" and a lot of United fans would be unhappy about it because they'd just look at our defensive record from the past 2 seasons and assume that he isn't good enough rather than actually looking at it closer. They'll be going all out to sign big names now I think.

Unfortunately no, I think LVG has probably had a bit of a shock and needs to fix it fast. Their defence is so crap and LVG knows what he s getting with Vlaar and knows he can cope with the PL. I d rather they d won and their defence had been brilliant tbh. Their own fans are even arguing about it with a fair few asking for LVG to get him in.

I really am a at a loss as to why Gabby is playing. I'd rather weimann up top and bacuna/grealish at wide. Although I can see why lambert would be reluctant to bring grealish on against Stoke - they'd kick seven bells out of him.

It's incredible how many Bents we've accumulated.  Benteke, Bendtner and Bent simply have to play at the same time at least once. We could call them The Killer Bs.

This Australia team is depressingly woeful. I really can't see them even scoring. 

So my bets are as follows:

$50 on a win-draw-win accumulator - Chile to beat Australia, England to draw with Italy and Uruguay to beat Costa Rica - pays $322 but if either Australia score, or just one of the legs fails I get the bet refunded.

$10 as above but with Kun Aguero thrown in as top scorer - pays $800, no refund

$20 on England to win world cup - bet refunded if we go out on penalties

$5 on Australia to be lowest scoring team

Cheeky $5 on Italy to be lowest scoring team at 67 to 1.

I think my best bet is the first one, plus the aussies to go out.

Pretty normal tbh - I'd say he was the real deal. 

I got the impression he was legit and I used to be a journalist so my bullshit detector is very finely tuned.

It was the piss poor job he did of disguising who he was. Also he seemed to share a little bit on impulse, but seemed to think he was protecting his identity/job by not naming the actual buyer. This is what normal people do all the time when they're leaking and you normally have to tell them things like - mm maybe we'll just disguise your voice, because afterwards the shit hits the fan.

Anyway I feel a bit bad because when I read his original post I was going to PM him and tell him to take all those posts down because he was risking his job, and i didn't. Now he hasn't been back on, which isn't a great sign for him.

On the restaurant subject - has anyone considered it could be owned by Randy and closed for a wedding?!? Shock horror. 

Before anyone mentions the tbar numpty's phone call, consider this. I manage a very nice upmarket restaurant, we have a private function on, on friday - someone calls up, saying they're a 'Mr Faulkner's assistant' and basically could they have the address. 

Would you

a - have memorised the name of every single person coming to said function and respond with 'There's no Faulkner here, nor will there ever be!'

or 

b - think 'for god's sake' put your nice business voice on and say here it is, do you want the parking code. 

I'd be more inclined to think RL, PL and PF were going there, if she'd gone with option a.
