The club have made his job hard yet again. Hopefully if we stay up we make a few more sensible decisions when it comes to transfers.聽

    Pretty much my feeling.

Short of something amazing happening it has been a 6/10 window IMO, and that maybe being a bit generous. He can only work with what he's got and money hasn't been spent that well in the summer and certainly this window hasn't delivered the players we needed to really push us forward.

    I disagree

Yep Maddison is several levels above McGinn. McGinn is absolutely not a stand out at this level and has in fact struggled at this level more than he has shone. Maddison is one of the best in the league in his position. I don't think I've ever seen such a blindspot for a player than McGinn. Sure he's a good player for us, but in the scheme of things he's nothing more than a decent centre midfielder.

You can't make this shit up can you!?!?

"What does the club mean no other strikers....ffs we are doomed!!"

    AVFC poised to sign Baston!

    " Nah....shows desperation!! Don't want him!"

Ffs....4 hrs in the life of a Villa fan! 馃槖馃槖

    Very simplistic.

We can spend and still get relegated, and then we're really in the shit. This gamble is far less risky.聽

Don't buy this. We're in trouble if we go down regardless, staying up and thus giving ourselves the best chance to do so is the best thing we can do.

same here, never heard of him.

15 in 36 in La Liga shows he isnt bad (and 22 in 36 in Liga 2 the previous year), but obviously struggled the last 4 years, wonder if he can find some form again!?

That was like 5 years ago and a career one off.

We've not struggled for goals this season. With Davis in the team I think we'll score even more, even if he doesn't get too many himself. Samatta, Davis, Baston is about as much as we could have hoped for after Wesley's injury imo. The club is just not going to be splashing the cash this window.

I think it could be a tactical error not to spend more than we have.

Definitely lacking quality in the forward areas, not just a striker who at least we have addressed but our wider players. Gonna be a tough few months.

    Any good?

    I'd say 'not really'.

He looked a good player 5-6 years ago. In particular scored quite a lot of goals for Eibar (in La Liga) in loan spell. He was pretty prolific at Segunda level (pretty shocking standard) where he scored a lot for Zaragoza. His performance at Eibar earned him a fairly big money move to Swansea and since 2016 he has scored just over 10 league goals, including two loan spells at La Liga clubs.聽

I'm personally happy to give Davis a go. We've done just about alright this year either with no striker, or with one still coming to grips with this league. We just need someone who can do a job up front. They don't need to be spectacular.

For me it's the pressure of staying up. A good striker would guarantee us surviving. Samatta and Davis don't really fill that gap for me. Samatta could be good but he's an unknown and looked very much off the pace. Davis for me won't score enough.聽

I think our work this window is not really going to come close to guaranteeing us survival, it's going to be very tight.

We literally just need anybody relatively competent to be third choice. Samatta and Davis should be enough but if it gets hairy as it did at the start of the month, we won't have to bring out a teenage midfielder to play up front.

Well I don't know. No one can be confident that Samatta is the man, appears to have quite a way to go.聽

  10. 6 in 19 in the Championship, better than nothing? Probably but I'm massively concerned at the quality we have brought in this window.

For a comparison I'd say he's somewhat similar to聽Joselu who had a stint at Newcastle.聽

Fair enough, I see where you're coming from, even if I see it differently. However, I don't think that writing an article about the 'accidental brilliance' of Donald Trump on a right wing website, quoting rubbish talking points from right wing thinktanks funded by the Koch network, is something I can possibly consider 'unbiased'.

Sorry I'm being a bit lazy here but is that actually a 'right wing' website? Just scanning it didn't scream 'right wing' to me but stand to be corrected.

No there's a knowledge of what the role is

There is no knowledge of what suso is doing on a day to day basis

No one has any knowledge of what he's done with regards to bowen聽

OK let's be super dumb and not make a reasoned inference as to what the DOF here does based on what we do know. Cool.

    All eyes on suso...聽

A man that we don't know what he does all day聽

He could be currently 95% through a deal to sign messi but when it hits a snag and falls through tomorrow its "nah he's **** shit mate"聽

Fully expecting a meltdown if bowen signs for Palace when in reality we don't know if we bid, if Hull said no to us but yes to Palace, if Palace offered silly wages, if we offered higher wages but he still chose palace

I'm not overly defending him I just don't see how you can judge a guy when you simply don't **** know

It's common knowledge what a DOF does, he's there to be responsible for the acquisition of players, it's simple. If we don't land Bowen then I see that as an opportunity lost rather than any major disgrace. However if we don't land at least another striker or inside forward type of player then that's very poor.

While Bowen would've been a fantastic signing, we were never going to spend whatever Hull wanted. If we went down it would kill us.聽

Great bit of business for Palace though.聽

拢16m to give us a much better chance of staying up is well worth it. If we go down this season we're **** anyway.

  15. Seems to be a double standard, small clubs can do it when they do it in cup games but when we do we're taking the game back to the dark ages.

What I will say is that it聽is a little small time IMO but shouldn't be punished.

Won the league and Champions League in 2025, qualified for the Club World Cup. Thought great...

Its scheduled for mid-June! And there鈥檚 about 24 teams in it with all top European clubs! What鈥檚 all that about?! Going to murder my players with that scheduling. Some are off on internationals then straight into that, then pre season it looks like. Crazy!

    Anyone else had this?

I've won the champions league several times and have never played in the world club cup or whatever it's called, weird.

I thought Samatta was pretty good to be honest, but I agree with you that it isn't enough. As we know, Davis has a poor record with injuries as well.聽

For me he wasn't bad but also wasn't good. Fluffed a really good chance in the first half and should have scored in the second. What I did see is decent movement, got into good positions for his chances which was great and a couple of moments of nice one touch play. But he certainly has a way to go for fitness given he pretty much broke down after 60 odd mins and based on his performance there's some question marks about his finishing.聽

I think the point is regardless he could take a while to get going and we really do need someone to just come in a score goals.
