    Sounds more like Dja-bee 🤔

Dja-bee is definitely how I interpret it. Watching stuff on the bundesliga YouTube channel is jarring as the narrator says Deearrbee followed seconds later by a commentator saying dja-bee

Love that video, finding all the players say their names in their native language really interesting until it cuts to Jeremie Frimpomg in a borderline cockney accent "JEREMY FRIM PON"

I was asking because Diaby doesn't do a whole lot of the defensive side. But Cash is a decent defensive fullback, so you'll be grand.

Still think there's legs in the Wan-Bissaka rumours too

  3. Would anyone take a punt on Kamada or is it an open secret where he'll end up? Great player on a free.

Lots of players in previous years I'd have loved us to go for, Zaha springs to mind. Kent going to Turkey seemed strange too as lots of English clubs seemed to want him a couple of years back.

    Looks like Olsen will

be staying but there was a lot of goalkeepers available on frees/cheap who are better. Begovic and butland were available earlier in the summer, I would have been a lot more comfortable with either of those as number 2

Said it in the summer window but if I was replacing Olsen I would be looking at Vaclik. Won titles in 3 countries and the Europa league, of a good age for a goalkeeper.

  5. I would think he has good potential and also fills a hole in the under 21 squad so that we can consistently put out an XI of players in their correct positions. I wouldn't expect to see him in the starting line up or loaned out. Hopefully he can really impress the coaches though and then get a loan out to a lower league club in January.

Maybe I'm projecting how I manage my youth teams in FM

Haven’t we loaned Sinisalo out? If so I think Marschall will be kept as 3rd choice keeper due to the European squad requirements as we are too light on club home-grown players and it doesn’t make much sense to waste a non-home grown slot on a new 3rd keeper

I'd rather keep Zych as 3rd choice and get Marschall out on loan. He's proven he's ready to be first choice in professional football at an early age and so it would be a shame to go from that experience to occasionally sitting on a bench in Europe and playing under 21 games.

  7. He's done well in consecutive seasons with Gateshead, in the vanarama north then the national League. 14 clean sheets across 39 games is nothing to be sniffed at for a teenager. Hoping we can get him into the football league now with the next loan, there must be some admirers other than Gateshead out there.

  8. My gut feeling based on the start of the pre-season is that we haven't quite cut our losses with Sinisalo. This loan seemed sorted quite early on, if we genuinely thought he wouldn't make it and we could sell him to a lower league side then I think we'd have waited till later in the window to see if a deal could be reached with a different team.

We've got Marschal and Zych still at the club so be interesting now to see if either of them step up to be second choice. I think a new 2nd choice coming in without Olsen leaving would be damming for the younger lads.

Be watching Sinisalo with interest and really hope he gets himself a clean sheet nice and early in the season

Tim Iroegbunam didn't go to the states and didn't play last night - he could be next?

Be interesting to see where he ends up. I'm not sure I can think of a team in the championship that is desperate for that kind of midfielder.

Full disclosure, I do have PNE links and there has been a former Villa academy graduate at the club for the last 10 or so seasons, with the likes of Daniel Johnson, Callum Robinson and of course Cameron Archer on loan with them recently.

With Johnson leaving this summer I really hope we send someone out to Preston for the season. I think Tim or someone like Duran would be brilliant for them. Maybe Chrisene in a left wingback role too would get plenty of minutes.

  10. I wouldn't mind keeping him here, training with the senior side, and not seeing a minute of senior football this season. Maybe we can throw him in against a league one or two team in the cup if we think he can handle it but I don't think there's much point risking it. Let him learn from the seniors and the coaches and put some muscle on and send him out when he's ready to compete mentally and physically.

I'd be very surprised if Man City were really interested in Raphinha, he's about as far away from a Guardiola style of player as you can get.

Grealish was the furthest I could imagine from a Guardiola player even 12 months ago, now he's a key cog in a treble winning side. If you'd pointed out Haaland to me a year before he signed too I'd have said there's no chance of Guardiola wanting a player like him.

Think the end result is Guardiola only has a type of player to fans and media, he's pretty broad with the players he works with and signings he makes.

I follow Aston Villa, not a player, I admire some players for their quality, but I follow Aston Villa.

There's some things that are immeasurable and no amount of money can buy that.

The PL is the best league in the world, but doesn’t have all the best players. The best players thrive under the best managers in the best leagues, who is being naive?

"Younger fans all over the world follow players instead of clubs these days" say football writers, commentators, literature on footballing trends

"Well I don't do that, so no-one else in the world does" says an anecdotal middle-aged man from birmingham, whose father and grandfather also supported the local club and all followed the trend at the time of supporting their local team.

  13. 25 man squad I'd be happy with next season:

    GK - Martinez

    FB - Moreno, Cash

CB - Torres, Carlos, Mings, Konsa

CM - Luiz, Kamara, Tielemans, McGinn, Ramsey

AM/W - Traore, Bailey, Buendia, Philogene

    ST - Archer, Watkins

Iroegbunam, A.Ramsey, Duran are the under-21 players I'd be happy to keep around the club until Jan at least to see if they can get minutes in the cups and perform at the required level now, rather than farming out with the others.

That leaves the below to ship out still:

Wesley, Sanson, Chambers, Nakamba, Coutinho, Olsen, Digne, Hause, Dendoncker, Davis, Chukwuemeka, Azaz - then any youngsters if we can get them a good loan like Barry, Bogarde, Feeney, Young, Chrisene etc.

That is a lot of players to shift. I thought we had a small squad but it is in fact massively bloated and although we need some people in and some of the people listed to sell would be good enough as squad players for another couple windows, it's a lot of players that have no real future on the books.

    Good luck to Monchi

    I read this as

    Archer / Mings / Cash + 20k

As is add Cash, Archer and Mings wages together and then +£20k to that and that's what we're offering him.

It says fee yet to be agreed so guessing it's not supposed to be something/someone +£20mil for Johnson.

    I'm sure it's nonsense anyway

Will be a good investment. We can buy now, develop him further and either keep or flip for a profit.

That's not likely in our new situation. He would be a massive outlay so flipping for a profit will only happen if a bigger club comes in with an offer we can't refuse, eg Man Utd throw £80mil at us in two seasons.

The other scenario is the Bailey route where it turns out they're a useful player but not worth the outlay.

Watkins as an example. We're not going to flip him for a profit now, he'll leave after forcing a move if he goes at all. Someone like Fulham aren't coming in with £40mil

this crap winds me up. it's not like forest have been turning down big bids for him and blocking a move. really bugs me when players do stuff like this to force a move.

would find it kinda funny now if he ends up staying and as good as he is i'm glad it's not us he's likely ending up at

Forest decision makers in a meeting room right now having a meltdown that they've been forced to sell their prized asset because he's removed "#NFFC" from his bio.

They should sue him for loss of earnings now he's done so much to force a move away.

In all seriousness I wouldn't be surprised if this is a heightened version of Chuk for us. They need to get money back for all the cash they've been splashing last year and if they sell a lad from the academy for big money it's pure profit.

If we're linked to him I would imagine there's a release clause in his contract to sell to clubs in Europe that the club has been alerted to.

As mentioned in the summer transfers chat, he's on the books of an agency that has a lot of Villa prospects of a similar age on their books (Ramsay brothers, Azaz, Archer, etc) so we might have been dropped a quiet heads up from them about his clause if they want to help him move on this window.

Forest are in danger of second season syndrome and the owner is volatile so Johnson could be on the bench under a random Serbian manager bottom of the table by September. He's got that to consider whilst his stock is high.

The likes of Romano have said that Diaby has already said yes to us, agreed terms etc and wants the move.

It's the club's agreeing the fee which seems the issue.

I mean, if he is determined to come here, could the club force him into a move at another club which matches their asking price or terms?

    Not sure.

If he's happy coming here then all good, I mean more that I'd rather have him over in England and talking to people at the training ground ahead of a move, with terms agreed rather than the limbo we're in now.

Makes me anxious when someone so good and so in demand is within reach but nothing formally rubber-stamped. There's room for a hijack.

Feels like some clubs use this now too. If Newcastle are smart they'll see we're good at getting a good price for our players, they'll wait till a fee is agreed and then match it rather than trying to negotiate themselves. At that point they've already tried to turn Diaby's head and it's just a case of pulling it from under our noses.

Very negative and cynical veiw I know, but I do worry now we're in the market for below-elite players. There's not another 2/3 Diaby's we can move onto if this doesn't work.

He was just at Leeds lol.

A short lived move to an " elite " club doesn't suddenly make him better than us

He was very clear that Leeds was a stepping stone to bigger things. I don't think he then moves back down the ladder and back to England 12 months later. Pride would get in the way as much as anything else.

  19. Think the biggest hurdle is Newcastle so we just need Bailey in his ear if they're still mates and to get him and his agent in a room with Emery. Think he'd be a fantastic signing for most clubs so we need to convince we're going places, as a financial fight is one we'd either lose or wish we'd lost by the time we come to agree fee and wages.

  20.  I still think we shouldn't sign Boris Johnson

Brennan Johnson on the other hand would be perfect.

Can't help but want us to make targeted signings now, and Chelsea's midfield looks paper thin. If we can hijack one of their moves for a CM or bring in someone like Gallagher we could really pull at the threads of that squad.

If they can afford to fork out a large fee on Chong why not Nakamba!

Athletic reported the fee was £4mil and Man Utd would receive £1mil of that.

£10mil for a player that was signed 12 months ago and had an okay to good season in the 2nd Division. Money's gone mad. Back in the day that money could be wasted on a Ross McCormack.

Interesting shout although it seems he wasn't actually at Sevilla the same time as Unai and Monchi wasn't there when he signed either.

Also I know he was highly rated a few years ago but not sure how I feel about the fact he was 2nd choice at Huddersfield last season.

He only joined them in January and played 13 games, only conceded 16 in that side is a good record I'd say. I think when fit he played.

I saw he won the Europa League with Sevilla so automatically assumed that had something to do with Emery haha.

He's won trophies in Czechia, Switzerland, Greece and Spain in his career and mainly been a first choice so definitely a good experienced winner to have around the dressing room, especially with the absence of Young now.

I know who I'd rather see coming off the bench based on my opinion of Olsen and comparing their careers, one guy has been upwardly mobile and the other has been loaned pillar to post to warm benches.
