  2. The phrase 'Drop the Dead Donkey' has a new found significance for me if this did happen.

Still, we do seem more intent on comedy entertainment rather than competitive.

Saw him a few times for Fulham last season and he was beyond awful. Yea, let's take an outcast from the worst defence in the league last season. Should help improve ours shouldn't it!

Hopefully the rumour is just rubbish. But we sure seem attracted to it..

  3. Seluk is adamant he is not looking to negotiate an improved contract for Toure, saying: "No. Money is not important. He has enough money. The most important thing is a human relationship and maybe this is his opportunity for Yaya to find that.

At last we can offer a world class player terms he'd be happy with. Randy could just love him and shake his hand a lot. Ahh,.. Crap! Why do we have to have an invisible owner! :P

Head of Mormon church Thomas Monson summoned by British magistrates' court over Adam and Eve teaching

Thomas S Monson, president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, ordered to appear before British magistrates' court amid claims that the organisation's teaching amounts to 'fraud'

By John Bingham, Religious Affairs Editor2:26PM GMT 05 Feb 2014

A British magistrate has issued an extraordinary summons to the worldwide leader of the Mormon church alleging that its teachings about mankind amount to fraud.

Thomas S. Monson, President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been ordered to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London next month to defend the church’s doctrines including beliefs about Adam and Eve and Native Americans.

A formal summons signed by District Judge Elizabeth Roscoe warns Mr Monson, who is recognised by Mormons as God’s prophet on Earth, that a warrant for his arrest could be issued if he fails to make the journey from Salt Lake City, Utah, for a hearing on March 14.

In one of the most unusual documents ever issued by a British court, it lists seven teachings of the church, including that Native Americans are descended from a family of ancient Israelites as possible evidence of fraud.

It also cites the belief that the Book of Mormon was translated from ancient gold plates revealed to the church’s founder Joseph Smith by angels and that Adam and Eve lived around 6,000 years ago.

The document suggests that asking members of the church to make contributions while promoting theological doctrines which “might be untrue or misleading” could be a breach of the Fraud Act 2006.

The Church dismissed the summons as containing “bizarre allegations” and signalled that Mr Monson has no plans to attend.

It was issued in response to a private prosecution attempt by Tom Phillips, a disaffected former Mormon who now runs MormonThink a website highly critical of the church.

Under little-used legal procedures, people who say they have evidence that someone has committed a crime can ask a magistrate to issue a summons requiring them to attend a court hearing.

The district judge would then decide whether or not to proceed with a case or dismiss it.

Similar procedures were used by Palestinian activist in 2009 to have an arrest warrant issued against the Israeli justice minister Tzipi Livni, leading to an international diplomatic incident.

Two virtually identical summonses were sent to Mr Monson naming Stephen Bloor, a former Mormon bishop, and Christopher Denis Ralph, another former convert, as victims of the alleged fraud.

It argues that by being persuaded to pay a tithe to the church on the basis of teachings which might not be true, the president could have committed fraud.

Among teachings it singles out as suspect are the assertion that the Book of Mormon was “translated from ancient gold plates by Joseph Smith [and] is the most correct book on Earth and is an ancient historical record” and that the Mormons’ Book of Abraham, was translated from Egyptian papyri by Joseph Smith.

Other beliefs cited include the assertion that “Native Americans are descended from an Israelite family which left Jerusalem in 600 BC” and that “all humans alive today are descended from just two people who lived approximately 6,000 years ago.”

The document then demands that Mr Monson appears in court number six at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Marylebone Road at 10am on March 14 or face arrest.

Malcolm Adcock, the church’s public affairs director for Europe, said: “The Church occasionally receives documents like this that seek to draw attention to an individual’s personal grievance or embarrass church leaders.

“These bizarre allegations fit into that category.”

But Mr Phillips said: “The head of the Mormon Church has been summoned to a court to answer allegations of fraud – I don’t think a judge at Westminster Magistrates’ Court would sign off on ‘bizarre allegations’ – I certainly hope they never would.

“This has been a very serious matter that has been looked at in extreme detail.”

    linkage

We need more of this kind of thing.

Here are some of the reactions here in the centre of Morondor...

"When you think of all the prayers that are said on behalf of the prophet. Does this other person really think it will go his way. Talk about making Heavenly Father MAD!!!"

"Remember how many times we see in the scriptures a prophet of God brought before a judge? If President Monson had to go before a judge, it'd be epic. One does not simply challenge God's prophet to a duel. lol"

"There is no such thing as bad publicity for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, someone is going to become interested in the church and start researching because of this and then they will have the opportunity to pray to know wether it is true or not.

This is our invitation to all, that they seek to learn more about the church, read the Book of Mormon and pray, or ask God, in respect to it's truthfulness. I know that it's true because I prayed and received an answer!"

Life is fun in the rabbit hole! :(

Also a mormon video as gone viral, just not in the way they had hoped though and gained a lot of negative press for em!

  5. I wonder if he'll ever visit Villa Park during match day again, i doubt he will

I just think the guy's a coward. He knows he could have become a target at any moment with the awful football we've dished up for too long. And he's hidden himself away.

He stopped coming about the same time the club changed its policy with players.

  6. Definitely. This club is in a coma until he moves on. Of course, a new owner doesn't guarantee that we'll move forwards, but we certainly won't be under the lost Lerner.

He came, he saw, he didn't have a clue, he lost his passion and he hid from sight..

  7. The future ain't looking too bright for Harry...

Harry would just have an orgasm with that bell too..

"Harry, would you like to sign Jermaine Defoe?" Harry: Ding, Ding, Ding!

"Harry, would you like to sign Peter Crouch?" Harry: Ding, Ding, Ding!

"Harry, would you like to sign..." Harry: Ding, Ding, Ding!

  8. I find the continual booing of Vettel to be pretty pathetic to be honest. Funny how everyone just seems to hate him. Not my favourite either, and always hope to see others win. I just hated the way he demeaned his teammate (webber of course) on the circuit ("get him out of here, he's too slow").

But i see an awful lot of denial from people when it comes to Vettel. I think he's proven he's one of the best and will be remembered as such by history. And people saying hes just a lucky boy in an unbeatable car are letting their hatred of the guy cloud their judgement.

As for the booing. The sport is starting to remind me of football in that way. Who do most football fans hate, the ones at the top get the most vitrol (apart from local derbies). And when the matches are underway, the oppositions top players are the ones targeted by the fans for the boos/chants. I do think fans are getting as frustrated with the domination of the top team/driver in F1 just as we are in football with the few clubs dominating. I think it's all frustration.

If i was Vettel, i would try and take it as a compliment. Because if he weren't a winner, there'd be no boos at all.

  9. Shame they chucked him early on, I was so enjoying the circus. Just comedy entertainment and was looking forward to seeing Sunderland go down.

Funny listening to this ego talk about challenging at the top. He wont even be seeing the bottom of the premier league again now.  Everyone knew it was a disaster waiting to happen. Still at least he shocked the players from the comatose that was MON's relegation trip. Short term i thought PDC would shock the players and barely keep them up, but i knew he wouldn't be there for even a year.

  10. Be surprised if Alonso moved at this point. Seems the Ferrari fans worship him, and he'd lose all that. Talk of strained relationships with Ferrari recently, but a move elsewhere is not neccesarily going to mean a better working atmosphere. I think he'll see how the season goes with Raikonnen for now (probably with the hope that he can still dominate in the team).

So Singapore, God this circuit is the worse on the calendar for me.

  11. stopped reading at Martin Jol number 4. the man is a fraud as a manager and has no idea how to build a squad or teams to defend. to have him ahead of Laudrup, AVB, Pellegrini, even Allardyce and Hughes is shocking

Fulham fans calling for Jol's head on saturday.  Nice to see they have noticed how poor he actually is

Wow, this really has got your back up hasn't it. Relax, it's not important.

As i said when i created this list. I did it mainly based on what they have achieved in England. That is why Jol is high in the list i created. I accept he is no 'great' manager. I'd say he's competent-good these days. I accept he looks out of place in that list. But many of the managers below him haven't proved a thing yet in this league and quite a few have relegation on their CV's. And i also admitted to some ignorance of the foreign managers..

I wouldn't say he is failing with Fulham either (yet). Fulham are a small club and just playing premier league football is a relative success. There are many bigger clubs lower down the trough. Fulham fans should accept mid-table and the lower half as success really.

Anyway, it's really not worth sweating about.
