I'd be heading there in the morning to rescue Snodgrass if I was Dean Smith. Even if he doesn't play he'd be a great squad option and a top lad
Too old surely

Looks better already.
No reason to play 3 at the back and there are better players that Batshuayi. Smith will continue with 4 1 4 1 or 4 3 3 with 2 dynamic wingers

This is actually a very valid point.
I don't think our defense is great, but it's nowhere near as bad as the stats suggest because I think we are being hit too often from positions we shouldn't be. Ask yourself this, how many times do we have the ball in a decent position around the box, only for all of a sudden to be defending on the edge of our own 18 yard box? A lot of these scenarios come about because our wide men or strikers seem to lose the ball when they shouldn't and we get countered.
I think we're the only team in the league where I shit myself when our wingers have the ball! And on top of that we didnt have a quality central defensive midfielder to stop those attacks.

Is McGinn droppable though?
Everyone is droppable! The key is having replacements on the bench. People breathing down the first 11s neck.

I reckon we need:
1 top class striker - Dream signing: Abraham (40m)
1 LW - Dream signing: Benrahma (30m)
1 RW - Dream signing: Sarr (30m)
1 player to play where Hourihane has been playing in the midfield lately - Dream signing: Buendia or Eze (25m)
1 experienced CB - this one can be cheap/free.
That's at least another 125m spent again. We might be able to save money on the striker and get a backup fullback too.
If we're in relegation trouble with this team next season we might as well pack it up and be a Championship club for the rest of time.
Abraham
Benrahma Sarr
Grealish McGinn
Luiz
Targett Mings Konsa/New CB Guilbert
Heaton
Subs: Steer, Elmo, Konsa/New CB, Buendia, Wesley, El Ghazi, Nakamba, Hourihane, Taylor/new FB
That is, in a nutshell, the perfect transfer window.

They both provided crucial goals and assists throughout the season, we paid £9m for El Ghazi and £8.75m for Trezeguet. That is nothing in today’s inflated market.
We’d be incredibly lucky to sign someone better than Origi in my opinion
I agree they didnt cost much, happy to have them as cover.
As for a striker, there must be better. Mitrovic Abraham would be preferable.

El Ghazi also scored goals, 4 in the league including winner against Everton, a goal in win against Newcastle and a goal in a draw against Burnley...
Not a great contribution then. He has been very poor in terms of Performance . He actually has a lot of ability but it just didnt work last year

I think he is, he’d be a big improvement on what we currently have as our striking options but he’d cost a lot and would want big wages.
We’ve got Trezeguet and El Ghazi, they both played a big role in us staying up last season in my opinion. In order to improve as a team, we will need a winger to challenge both of them in my opinion
I'm not sure what you thought El Ghazi did to help us stay up, Trez obviously scored goals but his.overall quality is not good enough. I dont want them anywhere near the starting 11. We need another striker. There must.be better than Origi

Origi. Im shocked so many would love him. Did anyone see his performance against us at anfield?
Our priority HAS to be wingers/wide forwards. I would put most of the budget on two pacey, creative players. In the mould of benrahma, buendia, rashica etc
Absolutely this. 2 wingers are priority as we havent got any! Striker needs to be better than what we have. I'm not sure origi is

All of those players I listed would easily go straight into our first 11, without any worries.
It's all about opinions but normally players take 6 months to adapt to the premier league as we saw with Luiz and many others. I personally would not take a risk on too many players outside UK. Maybe 1 if they are top drawer.

I was just giving examples of players based abroad who score goals and would cause a meltdown if we signed them. I believe all of those would cause meltdown level excitement on here. All signings have an element of risk. Even Messi could break his leg in his first game.
Yes. Fair enough but I'm not interested in fan meltdowns. I just want players who can fit straight into the first 11 and do a job. So not signings like wesley and luis and nakamba

Benrahma
Albrighton
Lolley
Buendia
Smalling
Abraham
I think that is a realistic list of what we will get, I would be very happy with that but I'd change smalling for a box to box midfielder

Ben Yedder, Dembele, Eduaord, Poulsen, Weghorst, Volland, Belotti, Berardi, Schick, Willian Jose...
All of which will probably need 6 months to acclimatise . One of these and a proven premier league player could.work but not these alone

There's lots of proven goalscorers overseas that would be a meltdown level signing.

Been said many times. Last year we need quantity of players, this year needs less so we can buy quality which obviously costs more. I think we’ll spend probably the same amount but for half the number of players.
I agree completely. Someone said recently, maybe Purslow, it's the wages that cripple the clubs. I hope we go 100k plus. I cant see it!

Good point. We didnt last year. Why would we this year

We have one of the lowest wage bills in the premier league, we have spare space
As a club who has just come up that's obvious. But to suddenly sign a 100k player. No chance

I think this is an extremely narrow-minded way of recruiting players. Just because we've recruited poorly from overseas doesn't mean we should limit ourselves to buying locally. Wesley, Trezeguet, Nakamba, etc are poor footballers; it's nothing to do with adapting to the league. Drinkwater, McCormack, Baston, etc had experience of the leagues they were bought to play in. It doesn't mean they should be signed.
We are unlikely to be in the market for the best overseas talent. So if we did go down that route we would be buying players who might need 6 months to settle. Not a good strategy. We need premier league ready players!

If we want to move to mid table we are going to have to get better quality and that means more money on wages. Wilson is on 110k per week at Bmouth. If we still at top of sixty grand then we will be fighting relegation every week. I’d rather pay an extra 40k a week for Tammy than Wilson for example.
Yes. But it's not monopoly. I'm also sure that with FFP we cant just go out and spend money. I read it takes 4 or 5 years of being in the premier before you can do that.you can. Honestly, I would be surprised if we sign anyone at plus 70,000 a week. I expect 3 or 4 signings around that mark.

All this transfer talk is interesting but let's not forget wages. Doesnt Tammy want around 150,000 a week at Chelsea. Isnt Grealish on around 60000 a week. We have to be realistic and I dont think we will pay more than 60,000 a week.
Forget the defence we are fine. Give me Benrahma, another striker, a winger and a central midfielder.

this is bulls@hit if you ask me for a team that struggled so much last season we need to get ahead of the game we should have signed one or 2 of our targets in the next fortnight not sit around and talk about it
Pretty sure they are on it right now!

Interesting how this will play out but I understand they are desperate for defenders. Money could be invested wisely
