I don't know why folks think he failed at Arsenal, he had one bad run from memory and that squad was shite compared to now. We have managed to get this guy before he's hit his peak, records being broken most weeks, and with our mediocre squad.

This could be a new era to shout about, instead of always been accused of being stuck in the past.

It's crazy, Europa league final and 5th place is hardly failure , only idiots think he failed

    I so agree.

I have a sense of genuine relief , progress and optimism.

Same I'm still in shock the club have managed this one, astounded to get the quality of Emery, the guy should be managing in the champions league and we've convinced him.

David O'Leary - Top four and Champions League with Leeds
Martin O'Neill - Promotion from Championship, three top ten finishes in Premier League, and two League Cup wins with Leicester when they had way less resources than now
Gérard Houllier - Won a lot with Liverpool,
Alex McLeish - Title win with Rangers, top ten finish with small heath, also won them a major trophy
Paul Lambert - Took Norwich from League One to Championship in three straight seasons and then had them comfortably midtable playing relatively good football
Tim Sherwood - Impressive win rate at Spurs, credited with playing a big role in Kane's development
Rémi Garde - Won French Cup and French Super Cup with Lyon, qualified for Europe every season
Roberto Di Matteo - Won the European Cup with Chelsea, got West Brom promoted
Steve Bruce - Four Championship promotions, top ten Premier League finishes with Wigan and Sunderland
Dean Smith - Didn't do much before joining us, but was building something at Brentford, and they owe a lot of their current success to him
Steven Gerrard - First title win in ten years for Rangers went an whole season unbeaten, only the fourth time that has ever happened

Our list of recent managers looks as bad as it does because of how much they failed with us, but before that failure they had all achieved something, hopefully it works out different with Emery, he's got a much better pedigree than most of the others and will have better resources, so good chance it will work out better with him.

Emery is better than all those managers listed, if he can't do anything here, then something is seriously wrong

Man United no mugs now. If Emery starts off with 2 defeats against them, will there be grumblings from the support that he isn’t the man for the job. I am over 50 now and I honestly can’t remember a time when managers are under so much pressure after a few early bad results. Watch this space. Suppose we can always blame McGinn if things don’t go well from the start, even if he isn’t playing.

Ten Haag likes to play a possesion based game, Emery counter attacking style with suit up perfectly for it

  5. The best appointment in my lifetime of supporting Villa, i'm most excited about this one.

I've followed Emery since he was at Valencia, the guy is a world class tactician

It feels like the owners wanted to make a statement and boy have they made one after the absolute disaster of Stevie G

  6. Holy shit this is amazing

we've got a world class manager

Theyre gonna mention his Arsenal time because they don't know anything about football.

This is a massive step forward from Gerrard

Lot of smoke billowing again on this one!

I'm not entirely convinced on the style, but would Villa Park take competence over flash? I guess it depends on the results.

We don't care as long as we're winning
