  1. I was brought up and have lived in Small Heath for the last 32 years (unfortunately). However there has only ever been one football team for me, which I've supported since the age of 9 and that's the one from B6! Amazingly, in my first and second years at secondary school I was one of very few Villa fans, even though we were doing really well in the league at that time (1992/93). Bloody place was full of Liverpool fans. Anyway, I couldn't give a stuff about other teams.

  2. His workrate is as good as Holman's, if not better - except for the fact that Weimann actually does have an end product to all his running and chasing. A very important addition to our first team.

  3. He can't be 6'2 surely... :D

He's 5'10" at the most. I'm 5'8" and he was barely taller than me when I met him. His height has always been wrong online! Compare him with Benteke and you'll see how short he really is!

  4.

Surprised Collins' pass accuracy is that high.

    HOOOOOOF

I know yeah! If you look at chances created as well 6 out of the 7 are classed as 'key passes'. I guess some of those 'long balls' have got to find their man sooner or later.

They're probably all aimed towards Andy Carroll anyway and he's fairly good in the air.....

  5.

I love Gabby and I think he took his goal very well. And he really deserved it too as he kept on running for the whole game and created chances. Sure, it was Cuellar who passed the ball to Benteke for the 5th and it was a poor deflected shot that set up the 3rd, but he was still involved and forced those errors.

But I don't like this "highest PL scorer for Villa"-thing. Don't missunderstand me. It's a great achievement to score so many goals, it really is. But I think it's a bit unfair on Yorkie as football started before 1992 and Yorke played for Villa from 89 and scored quite a few goals before the english league changed its' name to Premier League. To me it's just a Sky promotion. Having said that, if we stay up and he goes on like this for another few years he'll probably pass Yorke anyway.

But Yorke wasn't Villa through and through.... He didn't have his heart in the club... He showed his colours and they weren't claret and blue by a long shot... He left us for United then went on to sign for the Blues...

Gabby is a true Villa legend. He grew up supporting Villa unlike Yorke and has proven that he is the biggest local hero since the early 80s. Also, I don't think he would ever sign for the scum.

Two goals today as well! Might not be the best player but he does wear his heart on his sleeve.

  6. One of my closest friends is a huge Spurs fan and has been recommending us to get some of their youngsters in on either on loan or permanently for a very long time now. When I asked him who Dawkins was he didn't have a clue and when I told him he played for Spurs, he thought about it and eventually remembered him.... thought they got rid of him a long time ago because he was crap. Shows how highly he must be rated down there if their fans don't remember him.

  7. When we lost the League Cup final against United in 2010, I believe that was the start of our decline in becoming a bottom 3 Premier League team. I really hope going out to a 4th tier team in the same competition almost 3 years later doesn't mark the start of us getting relegated and becoming trapped in the Championship.

In my mind, this season is a total write-off unless we invest in players before the transfer window is slammed shut. I fear that any confidence we had earlier in the season will not be returning now, after this awful defeat.

  8. Releasing Cuellar was a big mistake in my opinion as he could have played as CB or backup RB, and would have strengthened the defence quite a lot with his experience, allowing someone like Lichaj to play LB in place of Warnock.

  9. The club have finally come out and made a statement about the fact that they are in the process of embarking on an interview process. That to me is very good news, although it doesn't confirm anything of course. But this is reminiscent of when the club used to put out statements just before a transfer was concluded to say that they were in talks with someone and then a few hours or sometimes days later you'd see that they had signed. I predict that there'll be a press conference scheduled for Monday afternoon with a statement on Monday morning to say that he's our new manager.

  10. Lichaj played very well considering his lack of experience, especially at left back.

The MOTD highlights were quite unfavourable to us and ignored all the good work he, Collins and Baker did at the back yesterday. On the evidence of what I've seen so far from him, he is a much better proposition at right back than Hutton and I would also start him ahead of Warnock if the chance was there.

He seems quite comfortable in both positions... didn't he play left back for the USA as well as for Leeds? Shame we don't have two of him, he would solve our full back problems :D
