Bye baz. Had a lot of potential and I must admit I thought you were going to make it here but just couldn't really make the step up. Championship is probably his level.
-
Lose 4-3 against arsenal, draw with Chelsea 2-2 and beat Liverpool 3-1.
-
Don't see the issue here. Yes he saved us from relegation and for that I'm grateful but now he's an expensive benchwarmer. Unfortunately for Darren we signed this bloke called Benteke who turned out to be amazing and it doesn't make sense to keep one of our highest earners as cover.
I'm sure if he was on 20 - 30k and Bent wasn't desperate for first team football then we would be keeping him.
-
Stream lasted 45 mins, not bad. Good job team, lets get ready for the next one. We might be able to bring you 60 mins against crewe.
AVTV = Improving all the time.

Eh fine. I'm going to bed.
This is why I stay out of the Bannan thread.
-
I'm not saying Delph is a goal scoring midfielder. I don't expect him to be in the top 10 midfield goalscorers. What I do think is that he can chip in with a few goals. Do you believe Bannan will ever score from open play in the prem?
-
But you've already alluded to Delphs dribbling ability which would make him one of the better bets to score from midfield. I've seen time and again that Delph has the ability to go past players which means he's actually pretty good at making space for himself. Oh and as for his miss against QPR, if someone misses a penalty does this mean they will never score one again? What has Clark and Baker got to do with this? My point was if Vlaar can score a prem goal, why can't Delph? You've already said that Delph is good on the ball so he has as much if not more technical ability than Vlaar.
Interesting question.
Answer is, Vlaar had more time and space to score his long range goal because he was a centre-back bursting forward from the centre of our defence.
Delph, can only burst forward from middle of midfield. Big difference.
Why?
Nobody plans for a centre-back bursting forward. Nobody there to mark him or close him down.
Time and space is something the goal scoring midfielder needs create for themselves because they don't get much of it in the Premier League.
Delph can't score without it. Or with it, if you consider the effort skewed wide from 12 yards against QPR!
-
you think Delph will score as many goals this season as Ramires scored for the Chelsea team last year? his place in the team doesn't rest on him being able to score goals. don't know why you want to put that pressure on him. Delph is our non-defensive outfielder who doesn't score yet still can deserve his place. teams always have one of those.
No, two different players.
The point we were discussing was, Delph might as well be wearing boots made by Toblerone, he won't score in the Premier League.
You can have a much lower expectation of Delph scoring than Bannan and the fact he doesn't matters less than Bannan not scoring because Delph's game is a defensive one, a modern defensive midfielder with some ball skill.
Ron Vlaars game is a defensive one yet he scored from 25 yards against Sunderland but you're right Delph will never score in the prem.
Ron Vlaar is almost a playmaking centre-back. He's from Netherlands so is more technical than the average British centre back. Baker doing that would be spectacular. The fact that Clark can and has scored long-rangers for Villa shows the kind of player he is.
What has Clark and Baker got to do with this? My point was if Vlaar can score a prem goal, why can't Delph? You've already said that Delph is good on the ball so he has as much if not more technical ability than Vlaar.

Fair enough then. Anyway this is the Delph thread so I'll stop talking about Bannan now.

Wait wait wait I may have been thinking of weimann scoring that goal. Come to think of it HAS bannan actually scored in the uefa cup?
-
I may be completely wrong but I remember bannans Europa goal was a bit of a scramble which he sort of just stuck his toe out and poked over the line.
-
Smart free kick from Westwood. Still a little concerned about our defending at set pieces although it is still early in pre season.
-
" And if you missed...well obviously you did miss it, Lowton and Westwood the scorer's" lol good job Jack.
-
At the ground.
First was unlucky, not Guzans fault. It deflected off Clark and over Guzan. The deflection wrong footed him.
2nd was Clark being utterly shit per usual. Really shit performance from him.
Can you get your'e phone out out and find a way to stream to us. Be better than anything AVTV could serve up.
-
"GET IN WHAT A GOAL!!!" - Is what I would say if I could see what's happening.
-
Just remember guys, it's as Jack says - it's more frustratiing for them than it is for us
Yeah I suppose your'e right. Let's all take a minute and spare a thought for them.
-
This is the first time I've ever got AVTV. Not only can I not watch the game but Woodward sound's like he's commentating whilst white water rafting.

Is it too late to get a refund.

"The best coverage, of course, on AVTV."
Except there is no coverage.
The best coverage is coincidentally the only coverage.
-
I can't find it but the pass from Westwood to N'zog who then set up gabby against wba. Although not technically an assist it was definitely a killer pass.

Great news. Get rid of Bent, Ireland and Given. Bring in Kiyotake and job done, best summer since time began.
