  1. Unless you earn a shit load of money, London is frankly amongst the worst places to live in the UK because your quality of life will be (relatively) shit. It simply costs too much to rent even a room, let alone an apartment. I'm about to be shelling out around a grand month for something that is shite. For that I could rent a 3 bedroom house in Bournville. Suffice to say, I hate London.

You're clearly living in the wrong part of London. Born and bred in Brum, apart from 3 years in Sheffield at Uni. Now live in London (13 years I think), wouldn't move anywhere else in the country, oh and I don't earn a sh1te load of money.

Wife an I toyed with the idea of moving to Bristol for a while, but knocked on the head, for a number of reasons, but mainly because we love London.

  2. Bit of light hearted fun, to see us through to the end of the day. Apologies if it's 'Bin Dunne'

Halal, is it meat you're looking for - Kebab Shop in East London

E4 Eyes - opticians in Chingford

Crops and Bobbers - Hairdressers next to New Scotland Yard.

Prize for the best, special bonus points for photographic evidence ....  Over to you.

Looks like you been listenin' to Dave Gorman's podcast, yes?

Not guilty M'lord. Although that doesn't preclude other people from my office from listening to it, which is sortta where this thread originated from

  3.

Typical politician really, he's known he's been guilty for how long now? But decides to plead guilty at the last opportunity and then obviously resigns (only because he has to). He knew he was guilty but hung onto his little bit of power (and wages and expenses... ) as long as he possibly could. Bit of a metaphor for the Liberal Party really, desperate for power...

Shame we can't ask for all the money back for that length of time.

    I totally agree.

But still, I can't help on another level feeling sorry for a man who has ruined his life so badly that he receives text's like that from his son.

I'd be interested to see what the son (who does also seem to be a bit of a prick, jusging by the texts) thinks of the Mother. There's no other words for her actions than spiteful and vindictive. She's prepared to but herself in trouble with the law simply to get back at her ex husband. Revenge is seemingly a dish best served very cold.

There's a lack of class all round in this. It's lack an episode of Jezza Kyle for a 'higher' strata of society

  4. Christ, wouldn't like to be in the trenches with most of you lot!!!!

I think that Wet Sham, is a big game, win that we continue with forward momentum. They've not won in ages away from home.

That well known fact is the curse bestowed upon us. Every player or team that has had a real shit record since god knows when is almost guaranteed to end it against us. Wet Spam will know this!

Whilst I have a tendency to agree with you, as it does usually seem that way - but, how'd it work out against QPR this season. No win all season, the great 'Arry installed as manager - Nil nil IIRC.

I still believe - we all need to believe. Recrimination can start 20th May, but until then we need to carry the team over the finish line!

I think that Wet Sham, is a big game, win that we continue with forward momentum. They've not won in ages away from home, and we've got goals in the side. There's been an improvement in the teams performance from the 2nd Half of Newcastle, through the Everton game, need to keep that going.

We've still go to play lots of teams that are towards the bottom of the table, I believe that we can still win against, WHU, Norwich, QPR, Reading, Sunderland, Wigan & Fulham, Yes it'll be difficult, and yes we need to improve defensively, but we can do it.

  7. My wife claimed about £3k back from a loan from her bank. She down-loaded a couple of letter templates from somewhere like moneysavinexpert.com (I'm sure there's a plethora out there) and sent it off. She had to wait for the outcome of an OFT investigations/court cases, but the bank coughed up, in a rather curtly worded covering letter.

  8. 4-2-3-1 for me.

    top 4 pick themselves :

    Benteke

    Gabby; Nzog; Weimann

    Midfield:

    Westwood; A N Other

    Back 5

    Lowton; Vlaar; A N Other; A N Other

    Guzan

So need to select someone to play in Center Midfield with Westwood: Delph, KEA; New Signing (Ha Ha); Clark??

Centre Half: Clark; Baker; New Signing (Ha Ha); Dunne.

Left Back: Bennett; Lichaj; Stevens; Clark; Baker; New Signing (Ha Ha)

Assuming no new faces, and Delph and Dunne are still injured then you're left with Hobson choice really - KEA in midfield, Clark - Centre back, and Baker or Stevens at left back.

  9. Reports in the press suggest that Blackpool inquired as to the compensation BCFC would want, should they approach them for Clarke.

Could be win-win, if he stays, he continues doing the spectacularly average job he's doing. If he leaves, who else is going to join that shower of ..... or the verge of administration.

  10. Not beyond the realms of possibility of picking up 3 points at the Baggies - They're on a little bit of a poor run, local derby 'n' all.

Take that into the Bradford game, win that 3 or 4 nil and get to Wembley.

On to Millwall, lower league team, again it's not fanciful to thing that we could win that one also. Suddenly that 3 wins on the bounce, Fans feeling better, Team more confident.

Newcastle at home, on the back of 3 wins, again it's more than possible to win that.

Feb looks a tough month, nothing away at Everton or Arse, but again, beating Wham at home is achievable, we'd be on 28 points.

  11. Long post, sorry.

I think that we can all accept that January is a notoriously difficult time to buy players, as the "desperation" of the buying club encourages the selling club to drive up prices. I still believe that the rhetoric coming out of VP is an attempt to limit those price rises for players that we are trying to sign.

There could be any number of reasons as to why we've not signed anybody yet (that we know of).

    (1) RL won't sanction the spend. Think we can discount this on the grounds that everyone can see that financially it would be better for AVFC to not get relegated. I know that RL and PF are accused by some of being financial cretins, but I can not believe that this is the case.

    (2) PL doesn't want any new players - we can discount this as he's as good as said we need a couple more players.

    (3) Players, of the quality required, don't want to sign for AVFC - don't believe this for a second. Are people trying to tell me that there are not players anywhere in the world that don't want to sign, nah, not having that. Even in times of austerity at VP we'll still pay larger wages that most other teams around the world, plus there the exposé that the premier league brings, which should be alluring to players (ie if they play well for AV then they'll get a move to Manure or whoever).

The following I would suggest are more likely.

    (4) Deals have been agreed in principle between clubs, but players agents sense an opportunity to inflate wages and sign on fees. Call it the Reo-Coker syndrome, the agent has told the player 'don't sign yet as Barca or Inter or whoever are also interested, and they pay bigger sign on fees and wages/ champions league blah do blah'. Until the player sees through that or it unsurprisingly does materialise then, then PL must sit and wait. He can always do things to speed this process up, but if it's a player he really wants, then he has to just wait.

    (5) the selling club have asked time to find time to source a replacement for the player that is leaving to join AV, not entirely unreasonable, and probably prudent for the club not to burn any future bridges by playing hard ball.

    (6) because of the tactic of pleading poverty, we're not going to complete on deals until deals are in place for all PL's targets. If we were to sign player X on 02/01/13 for £8m, it's quite difficult to argue we've no money when we go in for player Y and Z.

I know things are crap at the moment, and it's been crap for a number of seasons now, but we have to keep the faith. It's hard, particularly for you guys living in Birmingham, having to go in to work on a Monday and having to take all the piss taking from the baggies fans and noses. What else can we fans do? Not a lot! We just have to ride it out, wait and see, and trust those in charge of the club.

For what it's worth, I don't believe that sacking PL is the way forward. That's not because I think PL is not the right man, or doing a bad job, which I'm still undecided upon, but based on the fact that the club needs stability.

Keep the faith lads and sing your hearts out on match.

  12. Did u read anything in the papers about DS?

Did Chris Powell spend question after question at PCs asking about why he wasn't been played, were there any clauses in his contract?

    Bla bla bla bla.

Was DS salary printed in a Mirror Article alerting any clubs to his availability & the actualy salary he was on at AVFC?

Alerting any potential bidders of his worth

No he hadn't even spoken to this teammates - they suspected but he'd kept it all to himself.

On Jan 1 one of his team mates got it out of him.

There's a difference.& I know which player I would like at my club if I was Lambert.

Wouldn't Bent's agent(s) let potential bidders know of his availability and what sort of salary he'd be looking for? Would seem more plausible than leaking a story to a journalist.

  13. Well he asked for the debate to end however many joined.in Proud Villain being one

& what's more he NEVER answered any question put to him - How had he tweeted said players wage structure ie £65K per week + bonuses

up to 2015 if he or his representatives wern't somehow involved as the supposed source in quotes? Hmm funny that!!

OK then guys - let's just imagine in the world of #JulieBTwitchcraft (JBTC for short) - like VT's version of Fantasy Football 2013 -

let's for a minute imagine that this fantasy journo on JBTC MIGHT be near the mark

So then £65K per week equates to about at least £3M a year basic without bonuses until 2015

In my book that's about £6-9M at the very least....

Now just supposing said player wanted out - that means it could cost the club up to £9M if they sold him

Flip surely in JBTC world we could buy another player for less than that...who actually looks better for £7.5m Rumoured?

And supposing said player demanded to move or receive a PAY RISE to stay but refused to put in a transfer request

Hmm what would you do in Fantasy world of JBTC?

don't get the question, but is the answer the "star-spangled banner"?

  14. Steveo@10:28 (don't seem to be able to quote on this phone) got to disagree. He was no worse than anyone else. but I like the way he'll collect the ball off the back 4. He's confident, and always looking for an incisive pass. With the little experience that his got you are going to get miss placed passes, but there some thing there is
