    • Martínez: Not his pest game, but for the most part OK, some nice goalkeeping in the ninety minutes. First goal, a really well-executed corner, the second goal a mix-up with Chambers, and the third a soft penalty ... meh!
    • Young: OK game, not his best
    • Konsa: Did he lose Rodri for the first goal? But like I said it was a well-executed corner
    • Chambers: Again OK, then there was the mix-up with Martinez. 1
    • Digne: Again OK, but did not set the world alight.
    • Ramsey: I thought he is starting to come back, still not where he was but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
    • Kamara: Much better game than last week, but still not commanding the midfield as he has been.
    • Luiz: I thought he had a good game
    • Buendía, I still don't get the knocking Beundia gets, he worked hard out of possession and only really had Watkins ahead of him in possession.
    • Bailey: Oh dear.
    • Watkins: My PotM, worked hard like Beundia but got the goal.
    • McGinn: A good first cameo back, seems like he plays in slo-mo., but did what was needed.
    • Moreno: Did not seem to impact the game one way or the other, but was OK
    • Durán: I was impressed, his pressing lead to Ollie's goal, wonderful shot, looking forward to his future appearances.
    • Coutinho: Today was the best I have seen him play in the last six months.
    • Cash: His cameo was fine
    • Unai --- average
    • Referee poor

Wasn’t it Kamara that lost Rodri for their 1st goal?

  2. I have season tickets down Dagenham and Redbridge, just renewed for next season. £250 for me, £100 for my 12 year old, and free for my 8 yo. We love it. Did our first away game a couple weeks ago (only to Wealdstone) which was a good laugh. Can't recommend it enough.

  3. Sorry if this thread already exists but couldn't fine one with the very cursory search conducted.

Do any posters have any stories of their child(ren) playing football? the fun, the goals, the fights whatever.

I have to admit my weekends were usually pretty full up with taking my two sons to their football clubs, either for training or matches, all of which has come to halt as a result of CoVid, and I've come to realise that I miss it quite terribly. Do any any parents have any anecdotes to share? For context, I have two boys, 10 & 7, the eldest is a goalkeeper, I think because he's a lazy clearing in the woods and refuses to run, and if I'm being very honest is hopeless. The youngest shows a lot of promises as an under7 player, either striker or goalkeeper, and plays for very good team.

The story I'll relay is the time the Arsenal scout spoke to me and my youngest and asked if he'd like to come and train with Arsenal. My son, who's a Spurs fan (yes, I'm aware of the parenting fail, but it is at least it's his closest team) replied back "I'd rather die than play for Arsenal", and there went, in a puff of smoke, all of my footballing dreams.

  4. For me, if you're going to play Gestede, then you have to play a formation and players that will play to his strength, so that means wingers in a 433 or 442 formation. As we only have Traore who's a wide play who's not really ready then i would shy away from that.

If we want to play Jack and Gil then you need a striker(s) with good movement, who run channels, and inbwetween centre half and full back, so Ayew, or even Gabby.

Don't think the players for central midfiled are good enough/experienced enough to play with just 2 in the middle, so you need 3 in there. so I would go 4-3-2-1

    GK: probably Guzan

RB: doesn't matter neither are great, would be tempted to play Richards there, but that's not going to happen

    CB: Richards

    CB: Clark (if fit)

    LB: Amavi

    CM: Sanchez/Westwood

    CM: Gana

    CM Veretout

    AM: Gil

    AM: Jack

    FW: Ayew

  5. Better get used to it, this is going to be the way it's going (to have) to be for the next few years. Buying up young talent like Amavi and moving them on for a profit a year or two later, and on to the next one, until we are more competetive.

  6. We should offer to swap Benteke for Stirling, and then for us to sell Stirling immediately to either Man City or who ever, everbody wins.

As Liverpool wouldn't have to give QPR the 25% sell on fee, they'de be effectively be getting £41 million for Stirling. If we sold Stirling to MC for £37.5m, then we'd be effectively getting that for Benteke. MC would be quids in, as they would be paying less than if they purchased direct from LFC. Only people who would be out of pocket would be QPR - and balls to them.

I know it doesn't work like that, but it's a neat solution where all parties win.

  7. Any London villans not got tickets to the Semi? Realised that the game is on BT, so will necessitate a visit to the pub, so wondered if anyone else was in the same position. I'm in Walthamstow, but willing to travel. Any takers? Any suggestions for a suitable venue?

  8. Find my position softening in Sherwood from being vehemently opposed to a bit meh. If Sherwood comes in who would be his assistants? Say it was someone more experienced like Ray Wilkins and some like Ugo, might be a good management team. Pure speculation on my part.
