  1. If I redo, does anyone want me to add anything? I know my grammar is crap so a word for word thing? What do people think of the banner?

Not so much add. I'd like you to delete everything. The whole campaign of 'McLeish Out' has been an embarrassment from day one (and I'm not just talking from the point of view of trying to get a message across that looks like it's been written by Harry Redknapp). Who remembers a handful of Villa fans charging at an unlocked gate?

Experience shows that protests don't do anything. Look how long we were trying to get Doug out for. Liverpool's protest against Hicks and Gillette was also futile. They only went because RBS called their debt in.

I urge you to put your bed sheets away. We're appearing incredibly small time.

  2. What worries me is Bolton want it more than us without a doubt, and the match hasn't even kicked off yet. I think our manager and players will still be in a state of mind that we're safe and have nothing to play for. A point at most for us tonight, can't see us winning at all. How the bookies have us down for 10/11 is beyond me.

IF we fail to win or even draw I can see the media throwing us into their 'relegation battle' bollocks with the rest of them.

Surely no one can be this insanely stupid?

  3. Its just dawned on me if we do get relegated its going to screw up what should be a cracking summer what with the Olympics, the euros, the golden jubilee and the latest series of Big Brother

No fecking ginger tosser will be ruining my summer. 8)

  4. i think the following will happen

Villa - Bolton - draw (villa 37 points, Bolton 31)

    gameweek 2

    QPR to lose (34 points)

    Bburn to lose (31 points)

    Bolton to draw (32 points)

    Wigan to draw (35 points)

bolton to lose game in hand (32 points)

    Gameweek 3

    Villa to lose (38 points)

    QPR to win (37 points)

    Bbrun to draw (32 points)

    Bolton to win (35 points)

    Wigan to draw (36 points)

    Final game

    Villa to draw (39 points)

    QPR to lose (37 points)

    Bburn to lose (32 points)

    Bolton to draw (36 points)

    Wigan to win (39 points)

    Villa, Wigan, QPR stay up.

in the past 3/4 seasons 36/37 points has normally been enough...I just hope my mystic predictor works. we lose tonight and it is kyboshed!

How do we lose in game week 3 but gain a point?

Sssssh we're going to add them on when no one's looking.

    It's our only hope

  5. Lose tonight and we are well and truly up shit creek. Feelin very nervous sitting in work thinking about it. I am not feeling confident at all. :-(

Bolton are as bad as us and we have home advantage. We will win.

The same bolton that knocked us out the cup? At home - with probably our strongest team?

I hope you are right mate, im bricking it.

We also turned them over at the Reebok, albeit with a stronger team.

I wouldn't stake my life on it but if I was betting either way my money would be on us.

Never doubt Eck to feck things up though.

  7. Just bet on the other teams to win their games then...

Bolton 3-1 to win tommorrow night

That's almost as bad as backing us to go down

In a season that has provided precious little to cheer, let's not begrudge people earning a few quid if the worst case scenario does unfold hey?

  8. So if Randy is so hopeless with money how to people account for our revenue (excluding tv rights) almost doubling since he took over?

Same way you account for record £54 million losses.

Statistics can be massaged to reflect anything you want

  9. He's clearly not very astute with money

    He just inherited a lot

Spot on. It was his late father who had the business acumen.

Randy inherited that and decided that he wanted a new toy. Cars and houses stop being fun after a while.

He bought a football club, and much like a child who gets a puppy for christmas, he is bored of it now.

  10. Who's more concerned by their Blues friends and fans of other teams ripping it out of you than the actual relegation itself?

We have a team of players who are disinterested, a manager who is so negative and one dimensional in his tactics that it's laughable and little hope for future development unless major, major changes happen soon.

Anyone else want to join me on the apathy bus.

  11. 10/1 on Paddy Power, dont normally bet against villa

The bookies love mugs like you............

It's called softening the blow. I whacked a tenner on a couple of weeks ago at 18/1. Makes things moderately more bearable if we do go down.

  12. 3 massive concerns

1/ We have a young, inexperienced team who are facing massive pressure against the back drop of what is now a relegation dog fight.

2/Team below us - notably QPR and Wigan - know how to scrap and have a fighting spirit we so visibly lack. Where are the leaders? Is Agbonlahor really the most vocal, influential player in the dressing room.

3/ We have a manager who has vast experience in snatching relegation from the jaws of safety.

    To use twitter terminology... #squeakybumtime

So we are riding the crest of a slump then ?

I would suggest so. Staggeringly, three or four seasons ago we'd look at our run and fully expect 12-13 points from the last 5 games.

  14. As a footnote, to those travelling to Norwich on the last day.... If your worst fears are realised, maintain a stiff upper lip. No one likes to see a grown man cry.... Except the beeb who would be all over it with the camera.

  15. Roger Johnson will now have 2 relegations in 2 years. No doubt he will join villa in the summer and make it a hat trick.

And Scott Dann. What odds on all three of them suffering the same fate again with different clubs

  16. I'd love to go for a pint with Stephen Ireland and Chris Herd. They remind me a lot of my mates so I think they'd be a good laugh.. The rest not so much though. I do agree in a way though that perhaps relegation will be the "reset button" we need but it is a very drastic move to take, It could work wonders for us as much as it could cripple us so much we never play in the Premier League again.. I personally hope we find our soul while still in the best league in the World though I am quickly coming to terms with a very real possibility of being a Championship team next season.

we will be down for a long time if we go.

We could do a Leeds.... Then again we could do a Newcastle.

At least we'd have some fun along the way, and it does seem the only way to break through the bland, mediocre style of football we've been playing.

  17. I've been a Villa fan for 20 years now, and quite frankly, when I look at things in the cold light of day, I start to wonder how phased I would be by the spectre of relegation. In fact, thinking about it, the worst thing would be the ribbing from my Blues supporting mates and other football fans. Everything else I could live with.

    The reasons:

    - When I look at our squad there isn't a single player I can identify with. Overpaid, underperforming prima donnas sums them up. There isn't a single player in that team that I would want to go for a pint with or spend time in their company (Petrov perhaps the only exception).

    - The manager - His negative brand of uninspiring football is stifling the life out of me.

    - The board - Noticeable for their lack of talking and highest brand of cowardice. The General has disappeared like Lord Lucan and Randy hasn't been seen in ages. It's all very well jumping on the band wagon when we are challenging for the top 4 but where are they now?

Before people say go away part time supporter, I am quite the opposite. If we had a team of players who didn't have the greatest talent but fought for the cause I would be quite happy. Furthermore, if we were relegated it would open people's eyes to the idea that sweeping changes are needed. They won't be achieved if we finish 15th year on year and pocket the TV cash.

For now AVFC has lost its soul. Above all else, we need to bring it back. Whatever it takes.
