  1. It would be good if Lerner managed to get Ancellotti to join Villa before speaking to Young. That way Ancellotti could speak with Young and Downing and comvince them to stay. He can give Young his raised eyebrow look :-)
  2. Actually Rijkaard and Voller are best of freinds now, so I beleive. I do know it was totally out of character from Rijkaard. He is supposed to be a very nice person. Used to love watching him play, when I lived in Amsterdam and was a season ticket holder at Ajax.
  3. He's very welcome to try that on Steve Bruce next season, or MON if a Premier League club is mad enough to hire him. You'd really be happy with the manager of our great club going around spitting at other managers. Its the lowest of the low and absolutely disgusting and says a lot about the people that do it and those who condone it. I'd rather be spat on than raped/murdered, personally Still not a nice thing to do. Personally, I hope that any Villa manager/player had more respect and professionalism than do something like that to another human being. Well if I remember right (stand to be corrected), Voller was being rascist to him and he just lost his rag. Not condoning his action, but Voller seemingly was totally out of order.
  4. Whats a short link? Thanks mod's got it now Anyway here is the wiki on Frank de Boer Frank de Boer
  5. Well if anything, I would say that the style of football eminates from the Ajax academy. They produce so many class players. Rijkaard would help develope players considerably. Frank Rijkaard
  6. I dunno, but I think he would make a very good manager in the PL I wouldn't mind Frank de Boer coming in as his assistant.
  7. Only posting what the Times said. Are they more reliable in reporting such things?
  8. It was the Sunday Times that reported that Rijkaard has let Aston Villa know of his availabilty to manage Aston Villa.
  9. Frank Rijkaard may well be the next manager. I beleive he has indicated that he would be prepared to take the job at Villa. I was half asleep, but SSN mentioned it this morning and I didn't catch te source of the rumour. Worth a bet on him. UTV
  10. There are 289 people who want ancellotti. How many supporters are there in this world and what percentage is 289 of that. Does anybody really think that Randy is going to listen to 616 votes on this Forum. I think not. So everybody chill out and wait to see who we get. A bit like waiting for your christmas presents :-)
  11. I doubt if we will have a new manager in for at least a week. Lerner and the Genral have to interview them. Whoever comes in, has to beleive in Lerner's philosophy and be able to work with the General. It doesn't matter what we think. It's Randy's call. I wish I could block out all the press crap and all the bookies odds for the next week. I will support whoever Randy employs. He is the boss. As for the players, they work for the manager and should respect that and do their best to pay back their handsome salaries for our beloved club and the supporters. I have had enough of some of our supposed players who are overpaid and who diss our club by trying to use player power to diss the manager and who can't be arsed to earn their keep. Nuff said and UTV and here is hoping for a great season next year.
  12. This is going to be my only post on this biased thread. GH took ever from our former manager, who resigned with 5 days to go to the new season and dropped us totally in the fertiliser. That manager spent a fortune on average players. When Lerner did not want to fund him anymore unless he did something about the high wages and solvency, he didn't want to know. GH was brought in to sort the issues out that Lerner wanted from our previous manager. He was faced with an incredible injury period. He had to deal with player power and players that did not want to give their best for our beloved club. He maybe tried to change the style of football too quickly for players who were too thick and lacking in technical capability. However under all those issues, he managed to get players to pass the ball to each other and retain the ball, instead of pumping the ball up the middle and losing possession. He suffered very badly from not havig a good goalscorer for half a season. He got Bent in on the first opportunity to buy players. Bent made a big difference to the team. He got Walker in and he did a great job for us. Makoun is a very imtelligent player who is too good for some of the average players that are now being shipped out. Had he not had his illness, I am convinced that Lerner would have spent the money on players for him, and I am certain, he would have got us some excellent players in. I am convinced that if he was well enough, he would have got us into the top 6 next year. I am a Staunch villa supporter since 1956 and I feel ashamed that so many Villa supporters are so blinkered and so vicious about the man. He did a very good job under very difficult circumstances. Enough said and I certainly do not agree with the moderator who started this thread, who I think is biased. I genuinley wish GH good health and am so sorry that he has been forced to leave in such a difficult situation for him. I think Lerner had no choice but relieve him of his duties for health reasons and I respect that. I support the club and all who sail in her. That includes the Directors, Manager, Players and whoever is involved in our beloved club. Anyway. enough said and you can now say what you like, but I will not be posting back on this thread, but I feel it is only fair to put my side of the coin. I just hope whoever comes in as the new manager, you do not treat the next manager in the same disgusting way. UTV and remember Randy is the person funding our club and you should be supporting him and the people he employs.
  13. I agree about Macumberellalaren. The worst thing that could happen to us. UNfortunately for Gh, he didn't have what I thought was a very good coach in GM. I hope he gets the boot.
  14. Secret Squirrel, GH if he hadn't been ill, would have come good next season. He was managing to sort the crap out and move players on. His ability to bring good players in this summer would have seen Villa up in the top six without doubt, next season. GH managed to get the players to pass the ball to each other, instead of aimlessly kicking the ball out. I think many Villa fans were too impatient and should be ashamed of the way they treated GH. Unfortunately he became ill. I will always thank GH for having to come in and try and sort things out for Lerner after MON threw his dummy out, without having the luxury of a summer transfer window. Injuries, Player power and rubbish players (bought before he became manager), caused our problems last season, after MON dropped us in the fertiliser.
  15. John Terry would welcome the reappointment of Guus Hiddink as Chelsea manager and believes the Dutchman's return to the club would provide some much-needed stability. So what does that say about Ancellotti! Is he implying that Ancellotti wasn't bonding the players just as Gh has been accused of.
  16. pete165 said :- If Moyes leaves Everton for us, I'll wine, dine and shag the donkey, then ride it round Villa Park, waving a claret and blue banner with 'I shagged this donkey because I doubted ITKs' emblazoned on it. Well maybe Pete could sing this song from a friend musiscian of mine, whilst he is on the donkey http://bigalwhittle.co.uk/id27.html
  17. Dion Dublin on about the umbrella man is probably the most suitable. However, he says that if Hughes were to come to Villa it would suit everybody all round. Please Dion, stop mentioning the umbrella man. Nadal 2 -1 up in first set.
  18. Hi General I am so sad that GH got ill. I felt that he had the club going in the right direction and next season would show a vast improvement on last season. I do hope that Gh will be OK and would like you to pass my best wishes on to him. All I hope is that you select a manager that has the knowledge and ability of GH in European football and may I thank you and Randy for buying Darren Bent. Whatever decisions you make, I will be behind you both and look forward to the new season. My question is, have you settled over here well and do you like living in England? I lived abroad for 13 years and I know how difficult it can be to live in another country away from all your freinds. Have you got past the home sickness by now? :-) Anyway keep up the good work. UTV Staunch Fan since 1956
  19. What I don't understand, is why we want him. Fulham finished 1 point ahead of Villa, which suggest that there isn't much difference between them and us. Gh has been downright insulted by Villa fans for not being good enough. So why do those supporters want Sparky? I consider GH much better than Sparky, and it's just unfortunate that he wasn't able to continue for another year. Sparky is no better than MON and I don't think MON was ever going to get us any higher than 6th. Small thinking IMHO and well below my expectations for Villa if we ever want to get into Europe.
  20. Just seen this on BBC sports News website Aston Villa contact Premier League rivals Fulham to assure them that they have not been in contact with Cottagers boss Mark Hughes despite speculation linking him with their managerial position. So what do we read into that :bonk:
  21. SSN news says that Sparky has a win success of 32% with Fulham. That's not very good. Too many drawers. Boring manager in my honest opinion.
