  1. Pelle, I agree with your positives taken from the game however:

I hear some on here saying that they were there for the taking, and I can't get how a team with 4 wins out of their 5 last games and the loss being away to citeh with half a b-team can be seen as being there for the taking.

Stoke were there for the taking because they were so poor going forward. Their previous form is irrelevant as on this day they couldn't reproduce it and we should have punished them.

This game was very much not a game to use as a stick against AML. Anyone saying that is just looking for something to to be negative about.

Seeing as it was there for the taking (even by both teams yes) McShitey should have made a positive substitution to go on to win it. IF he wanted to win it. But he didn't want to risk his precious 0-0.

I would have loved to have seen Bannan or Ireland come on for Petrov or Clark and tried to push for three points in the last 10/15 minutes at the risk of losing.. That's what good confident managers do. Like Wenger when he brought on Arshavin and Benayoun for Ramsey and Gervinho in the last ten minutes against us and ended up winning by upping the pressure at the end of the game.

I just remember watching that awful dogshit game on Monday night thinking McShitey will NEVER sub either of our centre mids for attacking ones even though one had been blowing out of his arse for the last 30 minutes and the other wasn't fully match fit.

    Unbelievable.

  2. Well it's time rejoice people. Although I don't wish pain or injury on anybody it appears Heskey is out for a while. Achilles injuries are pretty long term I think?

Also looks like Bent's mystery injury is becoming even more mysterious.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16336051.stm

Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish is facing a striker shortage after Emile Heskey joined Darren Bent on the sidelines.

Heskey suffered a recurrence of an Achilles injury in the goalless draw at Stoke, while Bent is set for more tests on a troublesome thigh.

"Emile Heskey couldn't go on with his ongoing Achilles problem. He might be out for a while now," said McLeish.

Of Bent, he added: "We thought he was ready for this one. He will have a scan in the morning."

Asked when Bent may return, McLeish said: "I don't know. If there is new fluid we will know it is a fresh injury. If not he will be close [to facing Chelsea on 31 December]."

  3. Has Darren Bent managed to score more goals in the Premier League than McLeish has in his entire Premier League managerial career?

Alex McLeish's Prem teams have scored 127 goals and Darren Bent has scored 64 goals.

he's only got 10odd more than gabby? can't be right

    My apologies, I wasn't clear.

Alex McLeish's Prem teams have scored 127 goals whereas Darren Bent has scored 64 goals in that time period (as McShitey joined SHA in november 2007 and Dazza had started before).

However overall Bent has 95 prem goals.

  5. Of course it's a mess. Yes there have been messier times but that doesn't mean things aren't a terrible terrible mess now. And it'll only get worse.

    1. A silent chairman who is selling assets and lowering the wage bill blah blah blah.

    2. A terrible manager.

    3. Too many shit overpaid players on the books.

    4. Lowering attendances that will steadily carry on declining.

    5. Boring matches.

    6. Knowing A LOT of other managers turned us down having been told the restraints they'd be working under and hence leaving the fans worrying about who would even replace McShitey.

    7. Alan Hutton.

    8. Our most exciting young player's great form comes to a sudden drop when he is arrested for drunk driving.

    9. Arguably our best striker in premiership history has missed pretty much the whole of the festive campaign due to injury.

    10. 3 goals in 7 games.

    11. Jermaine Jenus.

    12. Our defending at set pieces.

    13. James Col.... just lost interest in carrying on this list as it's too depressing and I can't actually believe that someone could describe our season as 'steady'.

OOOHHH steadily in DECLINE. Sorry I misunderstood.
