I'd just like to say that I have no problem with how long it's taking and I'm not having a tantrum I just don't enjoy my club looking foolish and being hammered nationwide by the media. And again we're still ignoring the fact Martinez didn't even want to talk to us. Martinez didn't have the chance to talk to us. We just lined him up as a potential candidate but we obviously now have bigger plans.

They have proven how bad they are this week. It's hilarious.

Just someone pretending to be the ITK who used to be here and is now at H&V. Just after some attention and I'm not going to give it to him. Anyone who has read MM's posts regularly will know straight away that he does not write in this juvenile style. MysteryMan is a proper gent and deserves some respect on here. This. The real Mysteryman is a legend and I for one am grateful for the information he has given us in the past.

Mysteryman has been made to look like a total tool and a mug in this whole saga so I think it's safe to ignore anything he says. I still reckon it'll be Hughes on July 1st and this is all a smoke screen. How has he? All he has said is that he doesn't know who it is but does know who it isn't. And he knows it is not Hughes or McClaren. How exactly does that make him a mug?

Mysteryman said they other day that Hughes will not be considered and hell would freeze over before we appoint him. I really don't think it will be Hughes.

Why are people saying Martinez rejected us or wasn't interested? He wasn't actually offered the job or even spoken to. Whelan said we contacted them 9 days ago. We were obviously spending that time lining up targets and Martinez was one of them. However, Whelan obviously knew yesterday that there was no way we would be getting Martinez. We had obviously told him yesterday that we would not be following up our interest. That's why he spoke to the media. He made it seem like his manager was on the way out but knew all along that he was going nowhere. Now look at the Wigan fans. They love Martinez for being loyal and Whelan is a hero for convincing him to stay. We obviously feel that we have a chance of getting a manager who is higher up the list than Martinez. Trust Randy, he knows what he's doing!

I think the backtracking comment might have something to do with the 'I want to take a year out' comment. Well when I say think, I mean hope but it's still possible. :winkold:

Didn't he win the league with Swansea? I know it's a lower league, but you can only win the one you're in. Yes, it was his first season in management and they absolutely ran away with it, finishing with 92 points. He then won manager of the season too.

I think we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves. It's far from confirmed, in fact it sounds like Whelan expects him to stay. It also might be our plan B in case plan A doesn't come off so I think we should at least wait until an announcement before having a go at the board. And for what it's worth, I think there's every chance he could turn out to be a good appointment if given enough time. Sadly I don't think he will be given much time.

Why do people take Sky Sports' word as gospel? They actually know nothing :!: Benitez is no more likely now, than he was yesterday. He might even be less likely because all these reports are probably just a smokescreen.

I think it would be positive. The bold bit makes it seem like he wants the meltdown to happen.

Sky Sports don't know what they're on about. I really don't think it will be Benitez.

This Benitez talk is just the same as the McClaren talk from a few days ago. I think both stories were leaked by Villa to put everyone off the scent of our real number 1 target.
