  1. I said a few months ago that this would happen, but I'll repeat my point again

Daren Bent is one of the best finishers we have had at the club for the last 20 or so years. He is basically a goal machine who will convert 7 or 8 out of ten chances given to him

He does noth else than that.

I said that we had taken his supply line away and it would not be long before fans would say he is poor, contributes nothing and should go. I said that his conversion rate would need to be 100% not 70 or 80% because of the limited chances he would get and inevitably so it proves to be.

One of the few remaining class players we have at the club and his time here is, imo, limited.

    Spot on.

    Yup.

  2. lerner should bow his head for signing ireland without a manager

what a disaster that has been. and i bet ireland is one of our top earners

That transfer whilst we were managerless showed me the light about Lerner. he hasnt got a clue.

  3. Playing devil's advocate:

I have not renewed my season ticket as my own little protest to his appointment
Because you're not keen on the new manager you bailed out before a game was played?

he has been proven right so good for him he bailed.

I hope that Randy either provides AM with the funds to bring in some players that we desperately need
The club's good enough for Randy's cash but no longer yours?

Randy Lerner ignored the fans who told him not to appoint McLeish, he stopped been the "custodian of the club" and turned it into his own plaything with no input from us. Therefore he can pick up the bill.

If the targets for AVFC have changed then I would like Randy to tell us so, if we are no longer able to challenge the top 4, 6 then so be it and I would get behind the team, the manager etc 100% but as it stands today we are still under the impression that we hope to challenge these positions and play in Europe. If this is the case we are clearly failing and something must be done to address the situation. Clarity is what I would like right now...
You'd get back behind the team simply by Randy saying he's given up hope when no other owner would do that?

Randy wouldnt say that though. But he could give us a more realistic assessment of his situation and therefore the clubs. Of course the way he ignores us and fobs us off with PR actually makes some fans want Doug back! The reality would be a "middle point" between Dougs "look at me, look at me" and Randys "im not here stop looking at me"

What we want is to hear what he wants and then we can make our minds up about him and the future.

Now I nor nobody else im sure that posts on here understand the restraints under which he is operating but this said the board cannot be happy with our current performances or position, at least I hope.
I'm struggling to play against this as I believe everyone at the club including fans, players, coaches, manager, board and owner would prefer us to be in a better position.

But only one man has the power to take action on it!

thats my bit of  's advocate played.

  4. I don't know if this has been said, sort of avoiding the forum atm but...

    Apart from Stoke we have:-

    The least amount of shots.

The least amount of shots on target.

    The worst shot accuracy.

    The least amount of possession.

The least amount of successful passes.

:( Scored more goals then quite a few teams though to be fair. Although you'd expect that having Gabby and Bent up there.

Its amazing to think that there are people out there who have faith in McCluesless still.

  5. As bad as Mcleish is he was the perfect choice for Lerner

    1. Cheapish

    2. Just so happy to be in a job in the PL

    3. Accepted the better players would go and not be replaced (even if they stayed he wouldn't know what to do with them)

    4. Accepted no transfer kitty to speak of

    5. Accepted the club was looking for mediocrity (Not sure he can even deliver that)

Mclesih is only partly to blame

    Lerner takes the lion's share

    Spot on post.

  6. ive got to be honest. im geeky enough to knock up a quick Excel Sheet about Prem Manager stats. I will try and update this after every game... (Memory permitting)

So as we know: Mcleish has the worse win Ratio of the lot....

    Mcleish 13 4 31%

Houllier (Full Term - He did pick McAllister!) 39 14 36%

    Houllier (not counting illness) 34 12 35%

    O'Neill 190 80 42%

    O'Leary 131 47 36%

    Taylor 60 19 32%

    Gregory 190 82 43%

    Little 164 68 41%

    Atkinson 178 77 43%

BUT points per game ratio all his boring Draws have helped him!

    Mcleish 1.38

Houllier (Full Term - He did pick McAllister!) 1.36

    Houllier (not counting illness) 1.32

    O'Neill 1.58

    O'Leary 1.34

    Taylor 1.18

    Gregory 1.57

    Little 1.52

    Atkinson 1.55

So there we have it.... he's going to draw us to death!

    Geeky Doc Here

  7. McLeish is the WORST manager we have had since the birth of the Premiership.

It's perhaps a bit early to pronounce on his managerial after only 11 league games but I reckon I can provide 2 names who were worse than him: Graham Taylor MkII and Gerard Houllier. In addition, time alone will tell if O'Leary was better or worse than McLeish.

it may be early but lets look at his win % in context from a article late into last season (maybe 2 or 3 games before the end of the season i think!)

    http://twitpic.com/55e1tk

hes won 4 in 13. So thats 30.8%

So in Comparison he's only "bettered" by Billy McNeill and is by no doubt the worse Prem manager we've had.

(p.s. just worked out Hollier reign had 14 wins in 39 so 35% making him the 3rd worse)

Ha ha, I must have missed the moment when we started judging the success of managers by their win percentage but, even if I accept that method, your stats are distinctly dodgy.

First, Houllier didn't manage us for 39 games. He only managed 34 before his ticker gave out and he won 12 drew 9 lost 13 - NB only 8 of those wins were league games.

Also, if you judge a manager to be the "worst we've had" on his first 13 games, your stats need to compare the first 13 games of all the managers you are judging him by. Otherwise the claim is misleading if not meaningless. :)

    And, spookily...

Houllier's first 13 games rendered him 4 wins (but only thanks to 2 cup wins).

Ok. if we count that then he got 35% whoop de doo..

Im saying we can only judge but what theyve done... and hes done jack

we should judge by wins as they are what count in football....
