  1. Lord knows why, but I still like Lambert. Tactically, he has turned our defense from a shambles into a half-decent, organized unit. We've started to keep a little possession, as all of us were dying to do. And on a shoestring budget, he has amassed some talent: Benteke, Sanchez, Vlaar, Okore, and Gil (based on early returns), and even lesser buys like Westwood and Bacuna have been at least half-decent. That's a lot more quality than we could've reasonably expected from our meager spending. That said, this means our squad is fairly decent. We shouldn't be struggling for goals, and we sure as heck shouldn't be in another relegation fight. So the ball is squarely in Lambert's court. Time to turn in some points, or even I will reach my limit.

In fairness, you know why you like Lambert - you just outlined it in the following sentences!

Yes. I was hedging against what I had feared would be an unpopular opinion!

  3. Could it be that the money for Sinclair (inc wages) was used for Delph's contract?

Doubt it. They're two separate issues, and we've been negotiating with Delph for a while. As best anyone can tell, we've told City the amount we'll pay them (or Sinclair the amount we'll pay him), and it simply isn't enough.

  4. To think that Sigurdsson reportedly cost around the same amount, and he has been very influential for Swansea.

I would love Sigurdsson here :(

    This ^^^^^^^

I would have loved him here, too. But he was always going back to Swansea.

  5. Would not touch him at that price.

Remarkable how dynamic our midfield was yesterday with Delph, Sanchez and Weimann (not even a midfielder), and with Cleverly and Westwood not involved.

    Coincidence? I think not.

    I don't think thats true.

  6. I'm itching to see a midfield with Delph, Cleverly, and Sanchez together. I quite like Cleverly, and the rumored price doesn't bother me. I wouldn't say he is vastly superior to Westwood, but he's superior. Westwood is remarkably inconsistent.

  7. It's wrong to presume that this was based on a four-game unbeaten run, as if our front office is so reactionary and compulsive. Fox said that--before he even started--Lambert and Lerner were working on an extension.

  8. Still don't understand why we would pay 7.5 for 6 months of his service in Jan, either us or United are insane.

We would pay 7.5 million for him in January only if he signed a multi-year deal with us.  I can't imagine any other scenario.

  9. I was quite open to the move beforehand, although I would have preferred a more attacking player instead but now I'm against it. Even though we don't know the full details, it is pretty clear he wasn't exactly jumping at the chance to sign for us last night, either holding out for Everton or someone else.

Football fans are fickle and if he does well for us, that will soon be forgotten quickly but I think it is more likely that if he did do well, he'd look to move somewhere else after his loan.

By all accounts, he would've happily joined us for £60,000 a week.
