Because he wanted to cover himself having been very dismissive and sneery around the chance of it previously.

This was when the bell was still telling everyone Grealish was leaving. He knows nothing and comes on here for news

Evans wasn’t the only one that weekend. Ashley Preece (I believe it was him) tweeted something similar that weekend. It seems that someone around the club said something to suggest that a deal was on the cards.

He made a very bad decision for the penalty rushing out of position but otherwise he was faultless.

Mind you, that was a tremendously bad decision that could’ve cost us the match.

German League, not a tinpot league or a fancy league with hours on the ball to display some ball skills.

Check out his goals against Bayern Munich and Dortmund.

    It's not K. V. Kortrijk.

Fair. But then Haller seemed like a no-brainer when West Ham signed him from Frankfurt.

Here's the thing though, the type of player that Benrahma is - a tricky, creative winger - will cost you.  Teams were paying £20m for these types 10 years ago.

So either the figure they want is much much higher or we aren't actually that interested and/or he's our plan b, c or d.

Bums off seats players will cost us 20m - 30m unless you manage to unearth a gem.

I mean, do we want him or not?  Not convinced we do.

    I think we agree?

Concerned at our increasing distancing from our previous targets. Benrahma appears WHU bound, Rashica looks slipping away. Why we are suddenly looking at Eliasson makes me think we are down to option E already.

To be fair, we haven’t legitimately been linked with Benrahma all summer. We seem to like him, but not enough to spend £20M+ on him. We didn’t want to pay it last summer, and he’s the same player now as then.

As for Rashica, we obviously did want him, but we can’t make him love us back. If I were him, I wouldn’t want to sign for Villa either. As fans, we know the club’s history and potential. But to him, we’re a club that nearly got relegated again after several seasons in the Championship—and isn’t in London. It’s a tough sell.

That’s Smith Vs Ancelotti in a nutshell. We aren’t the draw we think we are ( yet )... Foreign players,  if they have a straight choice I reckon more often than not choose to work under Bielsa, Ancelotti than Smith. We just need to be cleverer and remain patient and stick to our plan and we will hopefully get to a position where we are first choice for players.

James is fine. But he’s a 29-year-old who hasn’t played a match in a year and will be on big wages. I can’t say I’m bemoaning our inability to attract such players at the moment.

He is only worth 10m though. Sheff will buy him for 15m and he will be worth 25m next summer but he is only worth 10m.

Out valuations are based on an FM07 save game. It is embarrassing at this point.

How much do you reckon Ollie McBurnie is worth right now?

As an American who has followed his career from the beginning, McKennie to Juventus would be an eyebrow raiser to say the least.

If you’ve followed McKennie closely from the beginning, then this move isn’t actually an eyebrow-raiser. I’m not suggesting that he’ll take Serie A by storm or necessarily start regularly. But he is well up to the standard.

probably unrealistic, but i see that Stoke and Liverpool have bid for Christian Pulisic. Would love to see him come to villa(as an american) and also only 17 years old. Would probably tear up the championship and only cost around 10 million and we could guarantee more first team action than Stoke or Liverpool

I can't think of many worse moves for him than to leave Dortmund for the Championship.

He was crap in Copa America, getting two yellows.

I watched every game he played in Copa America. He absolutely was not crap.  In fact, he was solid, defending well against some top-class wingers. His two yellows were beyond stupid. But he hasn't made a habit of such things, and he's a smart kid who would've learned from the fallout. So it doesn't worry me going forward.

The bottom line is, Yedlin is a solid RB for the price, especially given his age and the level we're playing at. And his skills are still growing. We'd be fortunate to land him.
