  1. Moyes is the one I want, he was the one I wanted last season. So long as we stay in the division we are equally as attractive a proposition as last year, and the manager would come in knowing that things couldn't get much worse.

    But I don't think we'll get him.

Lambert looks a bright prospect, and we'd be in a decent position to get the likes of Coyle, Hughes and Jol come the summer.

Overall the managers market isn't looking too bad, but unfortunately I think the most likely person to be in charge next season is Houllier.

Once the fans have turned against you it is only a matter of time before the axe falls. If Deadly was in charge I think Houllier would be out on Monday. With Randy I just don't know if he has it in him to show Houllier the door.

  2. I love what Houllier is doing with our club.

Loving what he is doing - 6 wins in 24 with 10 defeats. Interesting. I have come across other fans like you though but they have on the whole been supporters of West Ham, Wolves, Blackpool, Wigan, West Brom and Sha.

If he continues to do what he is doing we will be sailing very close to relegation. If that's how you get you kicks mate fair enough. Enjoy.

Perhaps Darrenm is enjoying the excitement of our relegation fight rather than the fade out under MON for the last couple of seasons.

  3. I'm really confident about this game. We have far too much quality for them and should comfortably win.

The obvious strongest team should be:

                    Friedel

    Walker Cuellar Clark Young

    Albrighton Makoun Delph Downing

                     Young

                     Bent

Quality all over the pitch. No weak points. I love what Houllier is doing with our club.

Apart from the fact that Clark is suspended for two games.

  4. Friedel

    Walker Cuellar Collins L.Young

    Albrighton Makoun NRC Downing

    Young

    Bent

That SHOULD be enough to see us take three vital points off Wolves BUT this is Villa and the way things are going I can see us dropping points AGAIN!!! If we do then.... oh shit!

I think this is our best team but the lack of height worries me. We have only got Cuellar and Collins who are good in the air so we will be vulnerable to set pieces again.

  5. they have almost £40m burning a hole in their pocket - £15m for Ireland?

If its the country, then yes.

    The player?

Nah, and besides, Ashley will collar most of that cash.

    or £4m and José Enrique

    Yes please!!! :D

If we do manage to get shut of him I don't think anybody will be willing to pay more than £4m for him, not even Newcastle.

Then there is the problem of wages. Who will be willing to pay £65k per week? Villa will probably have to pay him off like Man City did, although he did break his confidentiality clause.

Has any club ever wasted more money than Villa? Collymore, Curciic, Balaban, Alpay, Harewood, Shorey, Cascarino and now Ireland.

  6. I don't think we will struggle. I think we will create plenty of chances like we did against Bolton but we will actually put the majority away instead. Besides 3 points I would really really really love a clean sheet!

What worries me about our team when Makoun comes back is our lack of height. This is contributing to conceding at set pieces as much as zonal marking or Friedel's impersonation of Dracula (he doesn't like crosses either).

  7. And team wise the only problem against bolton was the set pieces.

    -------------------- Friedel----------------------

    Walker----------COllins-------Clark---------Young

    ----------NRC-----------------Makoun----------

    Albrighton------------Young------------Downing

    -------------------Bent---------------------------

This team on paper is top 6 without doubt. we can beat wolves and when we do we will be a head above the relagtion fight and nearly home and dry

As Clark is suspended Carlos will come in if he is fit. I agree that the above team should be not be in the relegation zone, but when you are down there things go against you and nothing can be taken for granted.

We should beat Wolves but I have a horrible feeling that we will end up drawing or losing. We should have beaten Bolton but we didn't.

  8. Christ Houllier has far less backing than I thought he'd have on here especially as many posters have stated they've voted stay but that they'd like him to stay for now then piss off at the end of the season.

I am surprised that he has received the amount of backing he has after two defeats on the bounce. It would be interesting to see what the results would be like after a victory.

I voted for him to stay for the following reasons:

    1. He has signed good players in the transfer window.

    2. He has good conections in world football.

    3. We are playing good football.

    4. Lack of realistic alternatives.

    My reservations are:

    1. He seems to have a great knack of upsetting people such as Carew, Warnock, Ireland, the fans, Bruce and Hollaway.

    2. He has had most of the season to sort out our defending at set pieces and has not managed to do it.

  9. -------------------Friedel--------------------

    -------Walker-Clark--Dunne--Baker----

    ---------------Bradley--NRC------------

    --Albrighton------Young---Downing----

    -------------------Bent-------------------

    What I want to see.

I like the above team but would not play Bradley as I have not yet seen what he can do. I would replace him with Bannon, who was terrific in the cup game against Blackburn.

Unfortunately, I think Houllier will play Gabby on the left instead of Albrighton.
