Can someone make up some rumours please? Bit quiet in here.. Would be nice if the club came out and said what stage we are in in the selling process.

Not a rumour though. But as I said here before, Khalid Al-Baltan (Al-Shabab FC former president) is interested in buying Aston Villa, He might be negotiating too. But I'm not sure how far he have gone with that.

The rumour about that was right, He is interested.

The story I read said he was just interested in a Premier League team but it didn't say Villa specifically. May I ask how you know he is definitely interested in buying us?

    Guess work I think

  2. Can guys like that AVFC transfer tweeter be reported and banned from twitter? Or is that an over reaction?

The guys a tool, best to ignore him for now and then batter him with tweets when his lack of credibility is exposed.

The question for me is why would Villa release a story to the press saying Bent or Hutton are back in. But back in Feb Lambert was talking about Bent never playing for Villa again.

For me, Lerner has told Lambert while he is at the club there is no money and that's plain to see. Lambert is planning to make the best of the situation we are in. He is being backed by a chairman who doesn't want to buy players, renew contracts to senior players or put more money into the club. He wants out plain and simple.

I look at this story and think have Villa released this to scare people and throw them off the whole takeover talk?

Frankly, Lambert has been dealt a crappy deal by Lerner and respect to him for carrying on. But, it is a man who said Lerner comes to games in disguise and Bent would never play for Villa again. A big pinch of salt is required gang.

Looks at these 2 articles and let me know what you think:

What idiot agreed to pay Hutton £40k a week? We go from bad to worse

  4. With Houllier on board, Red Bull might have enough sense to keep their hands off of our colours, crest and name.

Can you imagine if they tried to rebrand and replaced our lion with a bull!   :o

  5. they might be on high wages but they need playing, if he cant buy new then he needs to play who will keep us up

benteke needs a rest anyway and only be bit part super sub, lowton is still young as well, and as for LB, well, warnock is still probably the best out of the 3 of them

hutton - vlaar - dunne - warnock, may be just what we need to reduce our goal conceding, with bent having more involvement

other than that, the club need to be stricter with makoun as well, tell him to sort himself out, and get back here, or no more wages for the remainder of his contract, surely the club has rights as well?

[Hutton must never play for the 1st team again]
  6. I cringed when I saw them line up, the only experienced Villa players on the pitch were Given and Bent (both were poor), the rest were ex-academy players and the new signings. 1st Half was dreadful and other than Vlaar and KEA, everyone else looked at least a yard slow. N'Zogbia's play was embarrassing and, KEA aside, there was nothing in Midfield to provide any link up to the forward/s.

Ciaran Clarke had a dreadful game topped only by being sent off. He was at fault for at least 3 of the goals

All round it was a terrible day at the office :(

Randy you need to invest some $$$'s in the team now, before you end up owning the best ground in the Championship

  7. I have a terrible feeling that Villa with be stuck with this pathetic excuse of a defender for the full length of his contract :( which I think runs well into 2014 :( :( :( ...Alan Hutton is a complete waste of space and would be better suited to playing in the same team as the likes of Vinnie Jones, Roy Keane and Joey Barton...

  8. the fact we paid big money for a bit part average Newcastle winger turned him into one of best centre midfielders in England and then he **** off the 2nd he was offered more money

You make it sound like he **** off for an extra £1k a week. The boy probably picked up a £2.4m signing on fee and trebled his salary by making the moving. Milner didn't do anything that any of us wouldn't do given the chance in our own places of work, and if you say you wouldn't you're a liar. Yes, I'd have Milner back no problem, he runs himself into the ground and still carries on running...oh, and not forgetting that although we bought him for big money, we also sold him for huge money.

Not really sure where you're coming from with this, so am assuming that you just hate him?

  9. both Hutton and Makoun already sold possibly as both been replaced?

A mate of mine was staying at the same complex as Hutton in Dubai 3 weeks ago. Hutton was still wearing the protective boot round his ankle so maybe he was in the treatment room rather than out on the turf yesterday?

No, he wears that protective boot so that he doesn't have to kick a ball, have to say that he looks more like a footballer when he's got it on...I hope he **** stays in Dubai for good, it's about his level of football.

  10. Let him manage. If he does something you don't agree with or you can't figure out, you never know, he might know more than you. I'm going to sit back and enjoy watching him re-shape our club.
Quite. Reminds me a little of a certain R Saunders forking out a record fee on a 29 year-old journeyman centre forward named Peter Withe. That raised a few eyebrows at the time.

    My thoughts exactly...

  11. The first thing he can do to be even more popular is get rid of the troublesome Collins, Dunne and Warnock.

    Don't forget HUTTON!!!!!

If he does that - hes pretty much going to have to blow his whole budget on a new defence - or play the kids. I d be tempted to keep at least Dunne

Hutton out first please, we play with 10 men when he's in the team anyway, no loss whatsoever.

  12. I really hope we get him - I know its looks a done deal - but it only takes someone else to pay the compo and we are shafted (luckily no one of villa's stature is looking for a manager)

Norwich played high stakes by refusing to let him speak to us (Randy and Faulkner only have a moderate record of snaring there man) - so when he resigned they lost out on both counts - Lambert and the Compo.

I actually think there was tensions before the villa approach - and Lambert wouldn't have been at Norwich very much longer anyway. That said having paid out on Houllier, and Mcleish - were gonna be the laughing stock of football if miss out on lambert for around £800k......

Robbie Keane, extra £500k, Coventry City

  13. Aston Villa remain confident that Norwich City are not entitled to any compensation as they finalise preparations to make Paul Lambert their new manager.

Lambert resigned from Carrow Road on Thursday once negotiations between the clubs over a settlement for his "transfer" reached an impasse. As he walked out without a formal job offer the 42-year-old technically made himself a free agent – although Norwich, who claim they have "refused to accept" his resignation, may yet test that view at a tribunal.

Villa say there have been no further negotiations between the clubs since Lambert's exit but Norwich beg to differ. What is certain is that talks between the former Celtic and Borussia Dortmund midfielder and Villa were progressing smoothly on Friday with confirmation of his appointment as Alex McLeish's successor expected shortly.

David McNally, the Norwich chief executive, conceded he was searching for a new manager but claimed Lambert was on gardening leave. "We were in a situation where we were approached by another club to speak to Paul Lambert, we didn't grant them permission and we were very clear we wanted to keep our manager," McNally said. "When it was indicated that he would like the opportunity to speak to this particular club the dynamics changed, and then it was about talking to them about compensation, agreeing compensation and sorting out a time frame, and we are still in that process.

"Paul did tender his resignation but we haven't accepted it – that is our right and we will attempt to get to a conclusion on this. The lawyers will be involved and we will see if we can get through this as quickly as possible. Then we can focus on our search for a new manager."

Committed to a brand of passing football – albeit one containing a touch more pragmatism than that practised by another name on Villa's shortlist, Wigan's Roberto Martínez - Lambert possesses a proven track record of radically improving unsung players. In three years at Norwich after joining from Colchester the Carrow Road side won successive promotions from League One to the Premier League where they finished 12th last season.

Lambert, who earned £800,000 a year on a 12-month rolling contract in East Anglia, is likely to be warmly greeted by Villa fans underwhelmed by McLeish's rather more dour brand of football. Meanwhile the club's hierarchy trust they have identified the right coach to nurture the products of their highly promising youth system. A Champions League winner with Borussia Dortmund in 1997, when he famously subdued Juventus's Zinedine Zidane in the final, Lambert has the additional advantage of being able to show Villa's players his medals.

McLeish had been told money was tight this summer at Villa but his successor has received a different message and can expect to be backed in the transfer market by the club's owner, Randy Lerner.

Speculation that Lambert could be reunited with Grant Holt has intensified after Norwich's centre-forward tweeted his desire to depart Carrow Road this summer.

McNally demurred. "Grant Holt is not for sale," he said before denying Norwich have made approaches to Celtic's Neil Lennon and Cardiff's Malky Mackay regarding their managerial vacancy. "We are in a very, very healthy situation – probably the best financial health we've been in for 109 years so we don't need to sell anyone."

It's never straightforward with Villa, is it?

Randy has allegedly wasted £15m paying off the last 3 managers, so what's the problem with spending £1m to get his No1 choice?

  14. There was a reason why Woy took Carroll to the Euros and not Grant Holt.

Not wanting to get into an England debate, but that is flawed logic unless you can explain why 'Woy' has taken Jordan Henderson or Stuart Downing over anyone?

Downing is still the best english left winger and has international experience which is why he was taken. I dont think there is anything wrong with taking him and Henderson is not in the squad.

No, since he swapped his claret n blue shirt for that red rag he's been crap. Not a patch on his last 2 season at Villa...I'm glad its all going so well for him, the glory hunting bastard!

    £20m!!! Bite Kenny's arm off!!!

  15. When they win the League Cup 5 times, the FA Cup 7 times, the League 7 times, the Community Shield and the Champions League then they can say they are our equals.. Until then they will never be better than us. I don't care if most of our silverware was achieved before the 90's it was still achieved and we can achieve that again..

We shared the 'Charity' Shield with Spurs we didn't win it, and you seem to have overlooked Villa won the European Super Cup and the Intertoto Cup...Do your homework on Villa's history before you make a bold statement, it saves embarrassment.
