  1. I think there are big differences between Di Matteo and Garde; Garde came from french league having managed OL for three seasons, and he was/is relatively unknown. Garde has also just managed one club before but Di Matteo has been in several, so he's seen how different clubs operate and has (hopefully) learned from it. RDM also has some real achievements under his belt so he probably has more of the foundation to build the respect from the players.

@Deisler123 - the AVTV is not very good - needs improving.  Lots of short videos of player interviews, highlights, pre-match shows, press conferences

A good history is available on Youtube.

    Here's another good one:

  3. I've always been kinda underwhelmed by his demeamour in the side of the pitch and in the interviews, and haven't seen him very charismatic nor strong personality. Hopefully he proves me wrong. If he is chosen as our manager, the fans gotta stand behind him.

LVG? Can't think of anyone else who's recently become available...

The list of out of work managers at the minute is very uninspiring

I doubt it's LVG and I implied (or tried to) that someone who wasn't interested before or didn't want to negotiate while season was still going on.

Well, it is pure business. If anyone genuinely believes he is a massive fan of the club and is doing this for reasons other than business, they need their head checked.

I also don't think there is a massive conspiracy because he is Chinese. There is a culture clash and it is obvious that Xia was used to a lack of scrutiny about his finances, and to be fair to him he didn't pull an Abramovich and retreat into decadence - he clearly sees himself as the new public face of Aston Villa and is doing interviews and engaging with the fans (albeit indirectly) about the takeover. Whether or not he is wise in doing this is neither here nor there.

Bad journalists will regurgitate bad journalism as long as it gets views, regardless of the subject, but most of what I've seen (with the notable exception of the Forbes article) has been reasonable enough in asking whether or not the guy is the real deal. There probably is an element of guilt by (non) association given the record of far-east ownership in the English leagues, and that is unfair. But I don't think the media is out for him because there is a grand conspiracy against Chinese ownership. If anything, the West wants Chinese investment because they both have money and a lot of people! When the news first broke, there were some big inconsistencies and a few eyebrow raising statements (and not in a good way) which was enough for anyone to look twice, which is what journalists are paid to do.

He probably saw couple of Jack's videos from AVTV :D

God bless Jack's soul, he is likeabl in his own way but he's not exactly someone I'd have as public face for premier league team.

It was posted much earlier in the thread, also, he said for example, he had over 80 odd similar corporations, and he recently sold one of them for 430 mill, just to show. 430 mill x 80 for example:D

I wonder if he meant to say "eighteen" instead of "eighty", but even if it'd be eighteen, it'd be helluva lot of money.

does this not all look a bit amateurish though?

considering he spent alot of time in the US an also time in the UK, his english is pretty bad

if you look at the other big takeovers like man city an chelsea, these guys breezed in with their management companys doing all the talking and didnt need to do any trying to convince the joe public, this poor guy seems stressed as hell having to dea\l with all this crap

an where an why is samuelson an his mate banhill hiding while all this is going on?

there are still questions that need answering in my opinion

Could be just that the takeover isn't completely rubber stambed yet, as it has to go through PL and FL.

  8. When it comes to his Harvard records being made private, or secrecy around his wealth etc, it doesn't mean he has anything to hide, it could just mean that he likes privacy. If I'd be rich, I'd certainly do anything I could to minimize any public information you could find about me or my wealth, why should they be open for public anyway?

The less info there's about you in public, the better, for anyone, doesn't matter if you are poor as **** or rich as hell.

  9. I'd still like to see Bernd Schuster as our manager, he likes to play attacking football and he is kinda crazy so at least it wouldn't be boring. Besides, he looks like my old phys.ed teacher from elementary school who was mean S.O.B. :D

One of the reasons why I wouldn't want british manager is that in my experience they're not the most tactically astute managers, and we need someone with strong personality, and who knows how to deal with the players from different nationalities. Not sure Pearson is that man, although my friend who's from Leicester, used to praise him before this season, haven't asked his opionion since the last summer though.

So, I don't recall any other club buyout ever being subjected to this level of scrutiny from the press.

Why are we so deserving? Is it because finally something good is coming our way and they won't be able to ridicule us for much longer?

Words removed the lot of them!

Clickbait, it's pretty quiet on the footballing front at the moment I think, beside the LVG/Mourinho switch so they have to fill up the columns somehow. I have very grim view of the so-called "journalists", especially in the british media, and it's easy to beat someone who's already down.

From what I've gathered, there's also a LOT of regional politics between London/Manchester/Liverpool vs. rest of the England, so that probably plays the part in this too.

  11. Not too bothered about Moyes not coming, he feels a bit too much of old-fashioned and "old school" manager for modern football. I'd still prefer someone from abroad with enough experience, and who knows english football. I wouldn't actually mind Quique Sánchez Flores coming to Villa as he had surprisingly good season with Watford.

  12. Regardless of his intentions / financial background it is so refreshing to see him respond directly to fans.

Looking back on the Letner era, the total lack of communication with fans was surely the most damaging aspect of the whole thing to the point that we ended up with fan disinterest and revolt.

Dr Tony would do well to overhaul the PR department in his own image.

I agree, our PR-department is shockingly poor. Just the 'small' mistakes like "Remy" debacle should not happen.
