Brum mail latest on striker situation. Seems we are after Adebayor but not Austin.

Also very interesting to read about the loans signings, good to see that Sherwood seems to share the same view as a lot of people on here

"“Also what we can look at is we have two Premier League loans in the bag there. That is an option to us.

“There will be players at other clubs where they want their players to go out and play some games. We can be that club.

“I have been contacted by a lot of those teams over Europe and offered us some really attractive younger players because they know I am a manager who will give them an opportunity to play.

“I want to make sure first and foremost that I’m not developing players for other teams, though, if they’re not going to help us out.

“I always weigh up whether I am helping their club out more than I’m helping us out. I wouldn’t do it if I was.

“The good thing is I’m being contacted.”

  2. Just got a text off my mate. Tim Sherwood was on his flight back from Italy to Birmingham this morning. No idea if it was just him on holiday or villa related business but thought i'd post it on here and see what speculation it can cause.

Scratch that. Additional info that he was with his wife and had multiple suitcases so probably just a holiday. (But now he's back maybe we'll start to see some more activity)

  3. One of my favourite game series. Upon seeing the trailer and now some of the gameplay demos I've fired up fallout 3 for another play through.

I can't wait to see how the base building and armour/weapon customization works. looks very promising.

    Also, Dogmeat!

  4. Loved this game. The really enjoyed the story, gameplay and visuals. There's a scene on one of the final missions where a certain something crosses the road and it is one of my favourite moments I've had in a video game. Exceptional.

  5. I've managed to persuade myself that Richards, despite being a sicknote, can do a job for us.  Is def a risk, but could well improve on what we've got.

I might be able to persuade myself that Huddlestone, if he can be got fit and into form, can improve things, but also is a risk.

I'm really not sure I can come to terms with Townsend at anywhere near that price. Seems just to run fast without anything coming from it and what we desperately need is good quality delivery from crosses (and from dead balls / set pieces - we don't score nearly enough from the opportunities we get).

    I completely agree

Richards was class when he was first broke through and has been unlucky with injuries and the form of Zabaleta. However I think he can still get ack on track and I think it will be a great signing (if he stays fit)

Huddlestone I've seen enough over the years to know that he is a decent player, the problem is he is inconsistent. however Sherwood knows the player and I feel will hopefully be able to get the best out of him rather than the Tom huddlestone we saw last season.

Townsend is just a no for me. The guy is a one trick pony who is very frustrating to watch. Law of averages states that if he shoots enough he will score the odd screamer from outside the box but its not worth the 100 odd times he's cut inside, shot and missed beforehand. Not worth the money being touted and there are much better options out there!

  6.

I'm glad to see most of the comments on here are supportive / don't seemed fussed by the event, however a few of the comments on here are utter ridiculous.

He's a teenager, enjoying the summer and his youth with his friends. Admittedly it may seem like he's enjoying it a bit too much, but he's not the first and wont' be the last to have one too many.

The press theses days go to such lengths to reveal every little detail about a celebrity or sportsperson's life that we as a nation now feel part of that life, and that they should live their life to the rules and philosophies that we as a (intruding)public set. I genuinely feel for Jack.

I will concede that he is under contract by the club and so should act in a manner that represents the value of the club etc. etc.

But Jesus Christ, let the guy live a little.

This sounds very hypocritical Gillz. In one breath you're calling people utterly ridiculous, noting how he's enjoying his youth with his friends.... then next you say that he is under contract so should act in a manner that represents the value of the club... ?

Well what is it? Is this behaviour acceptable or not?

If you think this is just a lad having fun, and we should be supportive of that, then would you be happy if another photo comes out tonight of him on the floor again? And how about on Friday again.... and then on Sunday..... and next Tuesday also.

That's fine right? Because it's normal behaviour and most lads his age will be doing the same thing?

If that isn't acceptable, then why not? As you've said: He's on holiday, he's young and he's enjoying the summer.

Upon review I can see how you may view my post as hypocritical so let me clarify.

Yes, it is not the best behaviour but I feel people's reactions are disproportionate to what has happened. With regards to acting as an ambassador for the club, he obviously isn't in this particular situation but its not worthy as the front page news article it currently is on the BBC.

Does It damage his reputation? yes, slightly, but that's his own choice

Does it damage the clubs image? Not at all

Will it have been forgotten about it in a week? By most people, probably.

Furthermore acting as an 'ambassador and role model' is becoming increasingly hard for players these days. These players are under constant scrutiny and so any mistake or negative news is ballooned out of proportion, whilst any good behaviour/activity isn't reported because it doesn't sell papers.

As for you question of would I be supportive "if another photo comes out tonight of him on the floor again? And how about on Friday again.... and then on Sunday..... and next Tuesday also." Obviously not because that would pretty much be alcoholism - However there are no photos or proof of that, so can we get off the lads back and not label him as a drunk and irresponsible because of one photo from on night out!

Mellberg and Laursen CB pairing, oh how id love to have them now, worldclass

Keep Mellberg at RB and bring back Cahill then you're laughing

But Cahill was never great for us because he was sold before his time.

    This.

    Mellberg and Laursen all day!

Im well aware that the word 'Great' or 'Legend' gets banded around too much these days....

But any CB that scores a simply ridiculous bicycle kick as a winner against SHA which contributed to sending them down goes is a great in my books....

  9. Full quote from Sherwood on the Villa website:

"We're playing with two No.10s in N'Zogbia and Grealish, who play infield a little bit more.

"I think if we go back to wide players then Scott will be an automatic choice to play there.

"It's horses for courses at the moment. That's the way we're choosing to play.

"That's not to say we will play that way between now and the end of the season.

    "We may well change.

"Scott has been training, he's still a good lad and a good player.

"He hasn't become a bad player or anything like that.

"Sometimes we will play with wide players."

Doesn't make it seem like he doesn't want him, just that hes using  a differently tactic atm

  10. Decent Singing. Looked very good when we first got him in (Under Sherwood) and knows where the back of the net is.

Slightly surprised by some of Tim's comments but wouldn't be surprised to if N'Zog is off this summer an Sincalir is a natural replacement and £7m cheaper than he was!

Either way, he's a great option to have if we do start using wide players again or just as an impact sub!

You won't find much better for £2.5m!

  11. I'd be more than happy with that.

Stick a claret body on that and take the red and green off the sleeves (maybe replace it with yellow) and there you go

  13. I really like Sherwood and how hes turned things around.

However he must be absolutely laughing. He's being hailed as a genius for (hopefully) keeping us up and will be a legend if we (potentially) win the fa cup.

Realistically, with our team and with players like Benteke and Delph we should be nowhere near the drop. Granted hes got them playing so much better and he deserves credit for that but its not the miracle its sometimes being portrayed us.

I cant decide if Sherwood's ability is making Lambert seem absolutely useless or if lambert's incompetence makes Sherwood seem great.

Either way, keep it up Tim!

  14. Jack's Form rating since  he's been brought in. Quality and consistent.

    Premier League 07-04-2015 Aston Villa 3 : 3 Queens Park Rangers     70' 7.47

    Premier League 11-04-2015 Tottenham 0 : 1 Aston Villa     63' 7.33

    EFC 19-04-2015 Aston Villa 2 : 1 Liverpool     84' N/A

    Premier League 25-04-2015 Manchester City 3 : 2 Aston Villa     90' 7.29

    Premier League 02-05-2015 Aston Villa 3 : 2 Everton     90' 7.16

    Premier League 09-05-2015 Aston Villa 1 : 0 West Ham     90' 7.42

  15. League form may dip but for me you can't put a price on European Football.

Away trips around Europe and midweek home fixtures under the lights. There's nothing better.

  16. First things first we need to make Cleverly and Sinclair permanent.

A new goalkeeper would be good as Guzan needs competition and Given isn't getting any younger. Id be quite keen for us to go for a younger keeper (Horne) rather than experienced.(Green) as they will probably be on cheaper wages and can hopefully develop to a standard better than Guzan (which is pretty high so to buy someone better would be very expensive!)

Luongo from Swindon would be a decent signing but in that position i'd prefer us to get Cleverly instead and also to properly give Gary Gardner a go as he's been class at Notts Forrest during his latest loan .

A New CB to replace Vlaar is essential. Micah Richards on a free is tempting but could leave us short if his injury troubles continue.

A New LB would also be high on my list. I quite Like Luke Garbett from Everton as he's on a free and is very promising although they might be looking to resign him.

Another consideration is if(when) we win the FA Cup we will have European football so will need a bigger squad and hopefully will be able to attract a higher calibre of player.

All in all I think it will be a very interesting Summer ahead with a potential takeover and Sherwood's first ever transfer window.
