  1. Guys,

Reading the Daily Mirror this morning, which has a larger section on Vassell than the last few days entitled 'City to end Vass-Hell'

Speculation is mounting about the relatively young speed machine.

Vassell is touted as a possible trump card for a smash and grab move for Sylvain Distin.

However .. given this is speculation so far, Can we do without Vassell?

Also What do you think of his pace? his finishing and technique? Do you think we as a team will lose pace? or do people see this as a chance for a new star in the form of Luke Moore?

Use those buttons and submit your views....

  2. It very much depends on how his pre-season goes.

    Our midfield is absolutely packed!!

Given that DOL talks about GAV like the legend he is.. Gavin McCann will be centre mid most of the time...

leaving one place for Lee/Stevie D/DJ2/Berson

Berson, DJ2 and Gav are to similar for me leaving only Stevie D and Lee and I think Stevie D has done well and DOL will bring him in most of the time.

  3. That is hard to say, I am looking forward to seeing phillips play in claret and blue.

It really depends on how many starts / appearences kevin gets I suppose.

This is crazy ... but what i'm about to do is vote James Beattie... reason being that most of the time I'm wrong and therefore if I vote James Beattie then there is a better chance of phillips scoring more for us :) Don't worry VillaTalkers no need to thank me

  4. Welsh git for me - he has the speed and the finish.. DV only has the speed.

We can't get emotional because Darius is from Birmingham... this is a football club and it needs moved forward.

  5. My cousin is on the books at Glasgow Rangers and this morning in Murray Park (Rangers' training ground) recovering from an injury he was intoduced to a gentleman ( remaining nameless) who is the agent for Craig Bellamy. SHOCKER if it comes off, Bellamy to Rangers.

  6. The recent statement by the agent of the lad has given me a small piece of enthusiasm.... however.. mine's a maybe.

If someone else comes in for him we are done for. However, there's been no real talk of Everton or Celtic yet.

When his agent says "it could change, he has not turned Aston Villa down" then I'm keeping fingers crossed.

  7. I went for Doug Ellis.

At the end of the day these guys are the same inside with two very opposing approaches to making money.

Both greedy.... except one spends to earn (Glazer)

and the other saves to earn.

  8. 43% of people so far think Ang"hell" will be back to class form next season. Even though the only evidence that he is any good has come from 1 season where he scored more than 20 goals. ONE SEASON out of FOUR/FIVE.

Compare that to "class" strikers who do that EVERY YEAR!

  9. Even DOL has had enough of him now

Talk to me next season... we'll see who is right at the end of it all when he gets sold abroad for little over 2 mills.

  10. competition and cover...

    thats what he needs...

He needs a slap round the cakehole ... and needs told to wise up to himself!

A good forward still scores goals when the service is not up to scratch.

A good forward has the know how to get into good positions.

A good forward makes something from nothing.

Angel is finished at this club and at this level. Sell him before it becomes even more apparent to other managers and try and get as much back on the 9.5 million wasted on him in the first place.

  11. Good strikers don't need excuses, good strikers can feed on scraps ... and villa aren't providing scraps anyway. he has no excuse .. he's not consistent. SELL HIM!

  12. Recently we have seen the return of Darius Vassell, quite rightly, to the starting line up. Quite frankly the lad has returned bigger and better!!

I've been encouraged mostly with the performances of two key figures recently, those of Martin Laursen and indeed Darius.

The reason i'm especially pleased with Darius is the way in which he puts himself around and makes himself a nuisance to the opposition. Not only this but recently he's been challenging EVERYTHING in the air. I couldn't believe it yesterday when he steamed up behind robinson. .. ran all the way round him, goal side and won a header, consequently winning back posession. He fully deserved his goal and on the last few performances I think he can earn his England place back very soon!

  13. Even though I like Steve Davis ( Not like that ) I think Martin Laursen has been quite excellent in the few games he's played this season.

He's filled many gaps and gave Olly good support in the backbone of defence.

Olly hasn't shone recently as much as he'd like and having Martin Laursen's ariel prowess in there has ensured some good results of late.
