Beautifully taken Rogers!

Should have scored there. Bournemouth are on the beach. Here for the taking.

As much as I criticise Diaby, and rightly so, I would love him to have a good game today. We **** need him too as well.

Tired or not, the players should be buzzing and well up for this.

Do the thread titles have to say "Cup final x of x"? Its cringey as ****.

The over analysis is wild.
It was just a good save.
Yep, all of that was total garbage. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed.

Thankfully for Diaby whether or not you trust him our manager does.
Thanks for that, I wasnt aware that my opinion doesnt have a direct effect on our manager. Now I know.

Another tired comeback in a discussion. Did I say I know more than the manager? It's just my opinion. Like yours or anyone else's.

Some posters don’t seem to be to understand game state.
Diaby did the hard yards in the first 60 mins v Arsenal and Lille so that Bailey could then come on versus more tired defenders and be a potential match winner.
This is just total bollocks. We were hoofing it long or barely putting two passes together unless it was in our own half. There was no gameplan for Diaby to run them ragged. If there was, it failed spectacularly because he barely saw the ball.
The reason Bailey caused trouble when he came on is because he's better player, takes men on and actually looks for the ball. Not because of anything Diaby did.

you would've risked further escalating his injury and potentially having bailey out for this crucial run in?
No obviously that's not what I meant. I would have played Rogers or someone else. My point was even with Bailey injured, I wouldn't have started him.

Did you see him play ?
Yes so take that tired argument somewhere else.

Refreshing to see a nations media (french) defending their team, despite their fans throwing stuff on the pitch at Martinez and throwing footballs on the pitch to disrupt Ollies penalty and the ref getting in Dougs face before his and him encroaching on the ball in Dougs run up. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour tbh yet Martinez is seen as the bad one.
They're doing their job. Angry Frenchmen will be waking up this morning gnashing their teeth and wanting be outraged by Emi's behaviour. The French newspapers are just giving those fans what they want to read.
Don't hate the players, hate the game.

Cash is clumsy, has almost zero awareness and has a mistake in him almost every match. But you cannot deny that he makes things happen. He was on the end of that nice move for our first shot. Gave the keeper a stinger later on and of course, scored the goal. Beautiful penalty too.
-
It is odd that anyone who dares to criticise him is jumped on by the usual suspects. The statistics don't mean much to me because the eye test is far more important. I dont trust him at all in big games or against top opposition. It was mistake to start him last night, even with Bailey carrying a knock. Games like that are not for him. His lacklustre performance was inevitable.

With the very greatest of respect - Paul was simply the best centre half of his generation and would have walked into any team in the world at his prime.
This just isn't true and a very obviously blinkered opinion.

Just now, useless said:
This idea that we plucked him from obscurity isn't really true
Has anyone ever said that?

Olympiacos it is!! We've fallen on our feet here. Would hate to face Fenerbahce.

That's a different thing, I'm not saying emi is out best ever player but he is the only villa player that can say he is genuinely the best player in the world at his position while wearing a Villa shirt
And obviously world cup winner while playing for us
Mcgrath can't say that, as good as he was he wasn't the best CB in world football
This is a good point and based on what you said, you’re right. He’s the best player to have ever played for us. He’s the best in his position and would get into every team in the world, club or country. No one else in Villa history can say that.

We should cut our losses in the summer. He’s just not up to it.

Poor performance but that penalty was ridiculous. The strategy of putting your best guy 5th looks genius in situations like that.

This isn't going to be a hugely popular opinion here, but I don't see the Conference League as a "proper" trophy worth derailing our progress for.

Enjoy the game lads? I know its an inferior competition and probably too low-brow for you to waste your time with but I hope you had it on in the background at least!

Pretty much all this in the first half. Clumsily gave away the pen. Nearly scored with that shot. You basically have to take him, roots and all, or dont take him.
